Morning all! Nice and early out here on the East coast. Eating some yogurt now and getting myself together to head out to NJ and get some running done. 22 miles or thereabouts for me & a VRAA teammate, so please send some good weather, good running vibes - won't cha?

Will check back later ...good runs to all! And good luck to Philly Tom @his 5K ...bring home the pie dude!

Conga rats Maples!

Strawberry rhubarb pie is in the fridge!

5k this am unoffically 16:46 or so. 5th OA, 1st >30. I made a move for 3rd on a hill in the second mile and paid the price (prob cost me a pr).

Outkicked at the end by 2 youngins. Happy with the result, will have to think about my tactics.

This was my first run at 5k pace in 2 months, so I am very excited for the fall!

Dom, I would bag. There are always more tune up races.

Maria good luck with the 22. NIce day for it.
Lovely run today. I do enjoy 60*. (Gus does too, compared to what it's been. Ran me hard. heh.)

Type - This is a hard one. I used to say no hair longer than mine, but now they'd have to be about bald for it to be shorter. So that's out. Tall, dark hair, smart (with common sense), funny, likes dogs, non smoker, handy, likes to learn new things, secure enough to give me space, doesn't mind going to artsy/cultural stuff.

DH fits all of that except the tall part (he is only 3 inches taller than me. But he doens't mind when I wear heels and am slightly taller than him) and he has light brown hair. He can be chatty or quiet (like me), likes to build stuff, loves to cook (and bonus, he looks at my food issues as an adventure).

I'd love it if he was into some sort of exercise, but heck. 9 out of 10 isn't bad.

Good morning 30 somethings.

Not a lot planned today. I have to go to the bank this morning, and I have to do an Individual Time Trial-like run of 10 miles this afternoon.

Other than that, a quiet day.

Weather is gorgeous here today.

Maples congrats!

have a good day all.
Voo - Dh and I were talking about something that happened at Pig last May. Crap. Can't remember what/why. Something on the news triggered it.

"How's the big hairy guy?"

Considering he's only met you and Roberto, I figured he meant you.

Bob - how's Maggie doing?

Has anyone heard from Cherl lately?
Congratulations on Completing C25K Maples!

Korbel: Did you go?

Way to go the full 20 miles Timr!

{{{Mandy's Toe}}}

Beth: Beer class? Cool
Maples nice work. What ya got planned next?

Ptom - excellent work. Hope the pie is tasty.

Korbel - no idea if the decision has been made but I'd do it, and like Bob said it will be a great story. And running a race in a jacket even if it keeps you dry from the rain you'll be soaked from the sweat.

Kath - let us know about the PBS thing. And DH is only 3" taller than you? Had him pictured much different.

Mandy - hope the toe gets better, and count me in with the others as being excited for the kids in your class. Keep us informed.

No morning repsonsibilities at work today so I slept in a bit and then got my 7 miles in (beautiful weather here in MI as well!) before I have to be at a scrimmage this afternoon then we're off to a thing at one of Tonya's co-workers tonight.

Speaking of runs I'm not sure if it's the consistency lately (been over 30 miles a week like 5 out the last 6 weeks) or the small amount of weight I managed to shed but east runs really have been easy and at a significantly faster pace (like 10:30/mile vs 11:20/mile). Just really feeling good about all this and feeling good about a chance for a PR in Oct. Plus Tonya is actually considering Philly.

She's doing well, thanks for asking. I think she's finally starting to get the hang of this pregnancy thing. Too bad it'll be over so soon. Seriously, I know she's getting a little freaked out about the whole impending parenthood thing, but for now everything is going well...
Wooo hooo... back home from a spectacular 22 miler in New Brunswick this morning. The weather was/is AMAZING and having Kruss as a running partner was the best friggin' thing that could have happened to me. Plus, I didn't have to deal with a Fuel Belt or a strap-on ...our route had us clover-leaving (?) out-and-back towards our cars for drinks at various points. HR stayed down, legs stayed strong and when Kruss finished with 20 I knocked out those last two at 8:06 and 8:22. You really can't ask for a better LR folks - thanks for the vibes!!

Congrats on completing C25K Maples!! And a big pie-in-face to Tom for his sweet 5K skillz - them youngins are always after you aren't they? Great job man!

Kathleen - love the chicken carcass hat!!! Cutest drummies ever.

So I'm on a bit of a high right now and feel like I should go out and celebrate or something. Too bad my legs aren't feeling exactly the same. Planning to rest up a bit before heading back to NJ tonight to catch Beckham's debut on the East Coast as a Galaxy player.

Good days to you all!

okay gang, DW said, drive by the site and see how many people there are and then decide. as usual DW had a great idea.

Drove by and there are easily 150 people out there (last year thjis race only had 180 people)..no way I can be a pussy if that many other people are sucking it up.

rain backed off a little but was steady the whole thing. I am SO flippin glad I ran...I will post a brief race report shortly.

time was 29:26... goal was 29:59
Forgot to mention the other plus to today's LR -- I hit 70 miles this week. First time EVAH and the bod is pretty damn happy about it.

Great job Korbie!!!!
Great job at hitting 70! Even better that your body doesn't mind.
Congrats Maples, Korbel, Maria and PTom! Great work you guys.

Kath, we'll definitely have to try to make that happen.

I'm bummed right now. I was going and try to pace Hippo for the last 18 miles of his 100k today, but when I woke up I was having an attack that i think stems from my undiagnosed (but I'm going to get tested soon) Celiac disease. Like a dummy I ate some pizza, and I'm really paying the price this morning.

I think I can still manage to get up there and in to one of the aid stations to at least give him some cheering support. If I feel stabilized enough, Porter and I will head out in a little while and make the 70 mile drive up into the mountains.

DW and I mark our 13th anniversary today, but we're celebrating later this week.

Thanks everybody I think for now I will stay at 30 minute jogs every other day. At the same time I will try to do a better job with cross training with the old home gym on the off days from jogging.
Hi Everyone! Happy Saturday...

Some great running out there already Maples, Korbel, Maria and PTom--there are some big distances and fast times already!

I did not 10k it this a.m.; still a little vertigo-ey and it isn't worth it. I did do a nice easy 5 in some very Oregon-esque conditions and cleaned the heck out of the house, though. I think that counts, doesn't it?

This afternoon will be mostly on the couch watching the Godfather. I need a bit of rest; school starts for us this week so it's important I'm over this vertigo stuff and up to the challenge.

And challenge it will be, but one I'm looking forward to with the teaching thing.

Adios, Amigos!
race report here

http://kickrunners.com/forum/showthr...927#post189927

Nice job scratch!! the progress just keeps coming for ya

LH Tim we missed High School Musical 2 last night, was it good?

Way to go Ptom!!!!

healing vibes to mandy's toe

KP when I started averaging 30 miles consistently, I totally started to notice that running got easier...maybe 30/week is a magic thing who knows.

happy anniversary Duck

katholeenie- hilarious chicken thing

bob if becoming first time parents was not freakin ya out at least a little that would be weird if you ask me. it should freak ya out..that is half the fun

big hello to Winter just cuz

Nettie when i read you were on the aerodyne while doing laundry I had this vision of the aerodyne supplying power to the washing machine and you going like crazy to get your laundry done..

nice work Dom...yeah I think it is the mileage too.

forgot to mention earlier - normally on a run out here where I live I see no one else running, ocassionally maybe 1 other person. This morning, saw 14. This wasn't on a path either, this was along roads with no bike lane and speed limits of 45 mph. Can tell that the Grand Rapids Marathon is like 10-11 weeks away.

Maria - nice work on the run...Chi-town ain't gonna know what hit it.
Hi everyone-

Way to rock the 20-milers this morning Tim and Maria (+2M for good measure!). You're totally going to rock Chi-town, Fast Maria P.

Congrats on finishing C25K Maples! You really persevered through all your knee issues and did yourself (and us) proud.

Nice 5K PieTom!

Feel better Professor Craney!

Good race Korbel!

I got out for 14M this morning around dawn. That's a new distance PB for me, and my first 2hr+ run. I started off really uncomfortable, and I was slower than I had hoped, but I got stronger throughout the run and felt pretty good when I finished. It was HOT out there this morning, with temps in the mid-80s. At least it's dried out some (dewpoint right around 60*). My HM split was 2:07:45 this morning, not that that means anything.

I've got The Empire Strikes Back on right now. The chance of me staying awake through the whole thing is basically zero. ZZZZzzzzzzzzzz...

Hello!

Trying to wake up from my nap. This is tough! Anyway, I did the body pump class. Pretty cool. Just a few things I can't do (push ups/tricep dips on the edge of the step). Just don't have the upper body strength for those moves. She included about 15 mins of abs at the end. I have a feeling that it will be painful to breathe tomorrow! I got on the TM for 4. Forgot to start the nike+ until after a mile in (@#$!) so I ended up doing 5 with .5 walk added on at the end. Since I'm doing an online nike+ challenge, I had to get the extra miles!! Gave a few extra points for my VRAA team I guess. Tomorrow: 7.5 mi LR outside then to the gym to meet my friend again but for yoga!! (See, Jen? Inspired!) This will be her first time doing yoga. Should be fun.

Congrats Ptom, Maria, Scratch, Crane, Bob and everyone on great races and runs! Woohoo!

Ok.. time to start getting ready for drinkin'! Hehe... And I should point out, this is not an official class put on by Taco Mac. We are creating our own, but they do have some beer tasting club! It's called the Passport Club! This should be fun....

Ok, happy Saturdays!

Oh btw, glad to hear Maggie is doing well and being a freaked out about being a first time parent. Thats normal. You two will make great parents!

Busier than a one legged guy in an ass kickin contest. I jinxed myself earlier by hoping it would be quiet. But the day is half way over already, thats a plus

Pfast Pie Tom Congrats!

Maria you rock lady!

Duck Hope you get out there to at least be a Hippo supporter and that you feel better
Way to go phillytom, maria and korbel on your runs!

I'm hoping to get a run in tomorrow. Hopefully my back can handle it.
