I'm awake.

I've also got a mystery high blood sugar that I should be able to bring down enough before my 10K race today. The only explanation that seems sensible right now is I must have hypoed overnight and I've gotten a liver rebound spike. Blood sugar was at 90 mg/dl when I checked at 1:45 AM. Grrr. I've should have set another alarm at 3:30.

That's the way it goes.

Morning Thirties!

Drama at the Roo house today. Cats have finally (after 3 months) started to venture upstairs when Hank gone. Apparently, my little 13yo calico, Kama came up to watch out the window last night. This thrilled Hank and he decided to show her how much he loved her by running over to her as fast as he could. Gah.

Anybody know how to make your dog NOT chase your cat????

Good races and particularly I hope your body stops trying to do you in Scratch!

Howdy peeps!

today's my big day. Performing at the Bank America Pavilion. Should be cool. I am wearing the newest thrift shop dress...the short one. I showed the girls last night and they loved it. Now, I just have to decide about shoes.

I'm just about to head out to run a bunch of errands...but I want to wish everyone happy racing and running!

Roo, if you find out, let me know. Miss P desperately wants Trixie to play...which consists of Penny chasing after T, and T running upstairs. Then P sits at the bottom of the stairs (she can go up, but doesn't) and whines. Yeah, it's awesome.

I'll take some pix tonight.
Hey, all. Anyone else thrilled that it's the weekend?

Good luck, Scratch, and anyone else that's racing. I haven't been around much this week, so I haven't kept up. But good luck to you all anyway...

I'm about to head out for 16-18 miles. I should've left earlier, since it's already nice and hot and humid. I won't be setting any speed records today, but I might set a sweat record.

Enjoy your Saturday, everybody...

I'm off to eat breakfast with my sister in a few minutes, then over to my HS buddy's house and off to The Big House for the game this afternoon. Should be a great time regardless of the outcome. I've been looking forward to this game since it was scheduled six years ago. Go Ducks!

Go out and show that 14 who's boss, Kerik!

The insanity continues at work, but I'm dealing. Teaching is fun, but it is also pretty hard at times.

Oh! I have a story to share with you all--something I made is going to be in an art show and am freaking out about it.

The deal is that I know people from the art department at work pretty well, and while in Kauai I picked up a bunch of plastic forks and other trash from the beaches that I thought I could make into something with a message. I got some advice from art profs on how to work with it, and melted and bent and painted all the forks into a crazy looking "fork earth" that turned out pretty scary, but very cool looking. There are messages on it in melted plastic as well.

I found out this week that my project is apparently going to be in a show (probably more because I know people, not because of talent) with other true artists who are well known in MSP! I am freaking out about it because my little project is more like a crafty-thing. I thought this was just a show for my little campus, not for the whole community! I'm afraid it will look kinda stupid comparatively, truth be told.

Anyway, it is fun news, kinda terrifying, but we'll see. So, all you artists out there, tell me about openings and criticism and what I'm getting myself into, please!

Okay, I'm going to run now, because that's what we runners do on Sat. morning!

Morning all,

Just back from 16.25 with my training group. Nice run this morning. Climbed a couple of huge hills and still had a decent pace. 8:43 mm. I'm encouraged for my marathon next week.

College gameday is starting!!! Yeah! I missed it last week.

We'll we're off to the soccer fields for two games before we return home for lunch and some college FB.

Good runs all.
Heyguys,

Haven't checked in much recently - been busy. Hope everyone is doing well.

Moe Good luck in your performance...at most shows I've been to, the crowd really starts to react once the performer rips off her bra and starts sliding down the pole...don't be surprised if they are subdue before that point in your performance.

Scratch Good luck in your race - I can't iagine what a PITA diabetes would be. Getting up in the middle of the night for a poke sound good to me, but not the kind of poke you have to do!

College Football ood luck to everyone's teams...I'm sorry, but I cannot get into college ball. Too many blowouts, too many goofy powder puff schedules (I'm so happy it backfired on Michigan!), I hate sports that involve voting. Give me pro all any day - speaking of which, Steelers open up against the Brownies tomorrow! Cannot wait!!

I RAN TODAY
i'm so excited. Only 2 and then a cool off mile walking with the pup, but STILL i missed the rain, i ran and I have ten toes. Bonus!

BTW, I am openly confessing that I should have had my butt kicked for not getting fitted sooner. I LOVE the running store guy. i wound up with some Saucony Hurricanes (uh, you know, cuz I'm a force to reckon with...). Also he put me in a size/size and half larger than I wear in a regular shoe. felt weird at first, but great after a run.

Craney... that is awesome!!!!! I think sometimes its not about the technical what-ever of art (my mom is a folk artist, studied with Bob Ross and William Alexander) that makes it. Sometimes its how it touches people. I have a painting in the Hale Black Cultural center that got put there because it moved Frank Hale. My answer to him when he asked if they could put it on display was, "oh wow, no way Sir, its not art or anything, just something I had to get out."
katydids are back. fall's not far off.

ohohohoh, melis! congratulations! it sounds like your message has been heard. i've been told that one of the true signs that you've come into your own as an artist is that you start fully comprehending what others have done, and so question your own talent. if what you did was crap, you would have gotten no one's attention, no matter who you know. go. drink wine. enjoy chatting with folks. that's a perfect environment for you...

5.94 this morning in 1:02:32. why do i keep looking at my forerunner to see how f***ing hot and humid it is? i know there's no measure of temp there. but i compulsively do it, just the same. i ran today with one of a handful of compilation CDs that someone sent me a (relatively) long time ago. it was a bit like being paced by an old friend. this morning was all about becoming comfortable with discomfort again. hellllllO, hamstrings! too bad i can't do a nice lil rubiks-cube number and swap out hamstrings for gluts next run. THAT'S where i need to be tighter, dammit.

ms mananda, sister, i'm celebrating right here with you. saucy saucony's, eh? i bet they fit...

puppy went for the whole distance. she's doing great. at my pace, those long legs of hers barely trot:

good to see you all this morning. i'll check in later. DS and i are facing the daunting task of renovating his bedroom. we've been agreeably ignoring it for a long, long time. wish me luck...

Good weekend to everyone. I completed OHR week 3 today. It was raining hard on the drive to the park. I almost turned around but it lightened up when I arrived. The conditions were very nice, a light rain the entire time. When I completed the run and stretched I turned back and walked another lap. I thought to myself that it was such a nice morning and walking in the rain is one of those simple pleasures of life that we don't get to do very often.

I'm ready for the big challenge of engineering the football game today. I have to be there in a few hours. It will be a long day but I really enjoy being a "part of the system".

Anywho, good races or workouts to everyone. Stay cool and enjoy yourselves.
