Good luck to Voo at the Akron Marathon today.

I know there are some others racing, but my still getting coffee brain can't begin to remember, I can't recall who goes.

I'm getting ready to head out the door and do my first run of 10 miles or slightly more in length.

5K this morning. Abominable Slowmen of Boston debut. Good thing we're wearing our shirts, since I expect we will be really really slow.

Good luck all other racers!

Morning all.

Got in 9 miles last night. The last five were in complete darkness. I was on a paved trail too. Odd stuff. It was so dark at the end I ended up doing the last bit in the parking lot. Just couldn't see. Tweaked my calf slightly so today will be a needed rest day. Tomorrow I have 16 planned.

Got home and watched the movie "Next" on the sofa. Nicholas Cage, Jessica Biel and Juilanne Moore. Never remember it in the theaters but it wasn't a bad rental.

I'm also fully caught up on all my DVRed shows from last week. Didn't really like Survivor this week. Loved then new shows Bionic Woman and Journeyman.

About to head to DD1 soccer game. Today is also picture day for her team.

Tonight is neighborhood gourmet club. The couple who's hosting is from German decent so they are doing an Octoberfest dinner. I'm assigned to make Sauerbraten and braised red cabbage.

I guess that's all from me for now. Good luck to all the runners/racers today!

Good mornin', Scratch, Larry, Moe, Mandy, and the rest of the 30's still in bed.

Good luck in Akron today, Voo!

I hope the debut of the Slowmen is a blast, Moe!

I know there are others racing, but my mind is feeble. Pacer, PTom, Maria? Who else.

I had a dream last night I was watching a new sitcom called Roo, starring, well...Roo. I remember thinking "that's not how I imagined her voice." Weird night for dreams all around.

About to head out for 15. My tummy is unhappy (must have been the goat for dinner last night....really), so this will be a challenge.

Go Sox! Shaping up to be a an interesting postseason. J is happy (w/Scratch, PTom, Theia, Lori and others I'm sure, sorry Litch) that the Phillies have put themselves in position to get in. Should be fun!

Morning Gang

Actually set the alarm and got up early to get a 3 mile run in before heading to the Cities for the Brew Review. B watched me get out of bed, get my running stuff on, heaved a HUGE sigh and said, "I am ashamed. You're a ball-breaker." He's not back from his run yet. Mind you I didn't say a word.

Yes, even I can learn.

Crane - I PMed you my phone number, I'll have that phone with me today, keep me posted on your whereabouts - I really want to hook up!

Morning!

I hope everyone slept well last night--I have a nice cup o' Joe, too (the roasted kind, not the Voodoo kind).

Props to Moe, Theia and Voo have GREAT races today! Anyone else?

I'm out the door for a minute here myself just a medium run: 5-6. I was thinking this morning how much running has changed my life--I have a pretty busy social day but my first thought this a.m. truly was, "when am I going to run?"

I think it comes down to this: having passion for something. Many people run for _______, and I don't know if it sticks. It has for me because (and I would say the rest of us here) because we love to do it and we've found community in it. There are other things in life I feel passionate about, but it hit me today that running can also be included in that group. It has changed me physically, socially and emotionally--other people identify me as someone who runs, too. The impact really is very large.

Maybe I'm not the fastest, skinniest, bestest runner, but I still am one and today I am happy for that--happy that I can run, happy you all can, too.

Perhaps a bit early for that pontification, but it was on my mind so I thought I'd share.

Hopefully I'll see Baggs, Brandy and MerryMary later!

Good morning, guys. Well, I stayed up too late last night watching sports. I watched the end of the Sox game, Yankee game, and Mets game. (All had good outcomes). And then I stayed up to watch the end of the South Florida-West Virginia game. So much for getting to bed early. Oh well.

Good luck to the weeken racers! Seems to be a nice day here in CT; I hope it's nice weather wherever you are...

I'm just about ready to head out for 18-20 miles. It's much flatter here in my parents' neighborhood than it is where I live, so hopefully it won't be too difficult. We shall see.

I'll check back in on y'all later...

YES YOU ARE!! FYI: everytime I see a big branch on the trail I think of you. I hope you do the same when you see a big turtle or a punky anorexic chic

Ok - So I am scheduled for 19 (gulp). This is going to be the LONGEST run I have done in something like 4 years. I will be taking a gel with me but I dunno bout that. they scare me.

After that (whenever I finish) we are thinking about going to Doggie Palooza since we couldn't get tix to Brew Fest. They should really combine the two. That would rock. I think DH and I will be up for tonight if I get a nap in. Beer would make me feel a lot better post run.

Bye all!

Morning. Just catching up on the end of yesterday's thread and trying to shake out the cobwebs so I can go run this morning. I actually had a disturbing dream that I was supposed to be excavating these skeletons and I kept forgetting what i was looking for and destroyed them by digging them up so many times. Then I was giving wine to my students in class (like a wine tasting?) and after we drank, I started thinking about "what if they tell their parents?" Not sure what all that means!!! No Roo involved in mine, though. (Although, at the store the other day, they had Rao's homemade pasta sauce. I swear it said Roo.)
Planning on 5 today. I think I will stick to the trail since it is 100% clear skies with lots of sun. Still in the 60s according to desktop weather widget. Hope it's accurate because that will be such a nice treat!!!! Still been getting hot around here lately. Maybe it's finally changing.

Good luck to all the weekend racers, esp. Maureen as she debuts the AS group!

Beer fest peeps- so jealous! Have lots of fun. I may have my own private beer fest at home tonight while I watch my latest Netflix DVD!

Ok, gonna go get some coffee/food. I've been up for an hour, but just reading the thread. What does that mean? Sacrificing food for the internet?!

Happy weekends!!!!!!!

It's been done. 10.6 miles in 2:02:01.

Now when I was a young kid, me and my family a couple of summers had vacations out in Potter County in northwestern PA. I always remember that time my dad took me and my 2 older brothers on a long hike. It was long. I remember that. I also remember that we were told we had hiked 10 miles. So for that reason it's always been kinda stuck in my head that 10 miles is a long way to go on foot.

I just ran that.

Mary, Crane, Baggs, Brandy, rest of the beer fest people...I am so jealous.

Mary, nice non-verbal guilt trip.

Nice easy 5 miles this morning - first run since Tuesday, lazy ass I am (and not lazy like Baggs) but at least I got it in before I get to go spend the rest of the day covering homecoming sporting events at the college today. Bob, I should make it home in time to watch the game tonight, and no, I don't have any real hopes for a repeat of last year.
