About to start take off with Hank who popped me in the chops with his big old head last night. I got a fat lip . That's sex-ay I tell you. Good morning, 30s. Hey, I didn't try to start a competing thread today! I guess that's a good thing...<br><br>
I had me a good run last night: 10.5 miles at a 8:28 pace. It wasn't easy and I'm a little sore this morning. But I'm pleased with being able to cover that distance at that speed. Heck, the distance and pace isn't far off what I did at the New Haven Road Race a few weeks ago, and if I can almost match race numbers during a regular old training run, it makes me wonder if I could've gone faster in the race. Hmmm...<br><br>
I think today will be a day off. I'll probably need the rest...<br><br>

Morning folks.<br><br>
Had to teach a training class yesterday, and by the time I finished up with it, I couldn't keep up with things on the thread. Hope folks are doing well and healing quickly.<br><br>
Tried my little 1/4 mile run yesterday in my 2 mile walk. It didn't go as spiffy as I'd like. I swear I still felt .. not a sharp pain or anything, but a little bit uncomfy, running on the right foot. Same spot that I felt the "piercing" pain a while back, though the sensation wasn't anything like that yesterday.<br><br>
Boo hiss. I am going to try some alternatives. I had new shoes on yesterday, and thicker socks. Next time, I'll go back to "old faithful" shoe-wise, and to my thinner socks. If that doesn't work, I'm going to just try to jog up and down my rather short driveway (in either pair of shoes), as it may be that my stride outside won't be uncomfy, but the TM will be. One can only hope at this point, anyway.<br><br>
Time to find some grub for breakfast.. I'll catch you cats later this morning!

Got an <b>east</b> 4 miles done yesterday. Legs still felt a little tired from the race, but nothing hurts <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.kickrunners.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Smile"><br><br>
Busy day, I'll stop back when I can. I'm in charge of a grade-level curriculum meeting this afternoon. blech.<br><br>

and <b>re: SAD</b> - hugely affected -- I've found that consistent workouts, moisturizers with a bit of tanner (I don't use the full self-tanners), and getting outside at least for a bit each day (even when it's cold) has helped... I also try to take a trip to some warm weather at least once in the winter season <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.kickrunners.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Smile"><br><br>

Out the door soon for a short run. I love running in the mornings and getting it done. That time is usually reserved for DW. That's why I usually run in the evenings. That can get tough, though.<br><br>

Off to work, blech. Did 5.1 last night on the TM, should fit in 3 sometime tonight. I admire and fear all of you out and about early in the day to run...I just can't imagine doing it! I have a good imagination, but this one's beyond me...<br><br>

I actually have a question about my tentative schedule and would appreciate some input...<br><br>
9/30 - 5k (some local thing, haven't signed up yet, just need to get out and race)<br>
11/11 - Stockade-athon 15k<br>
11/18 - Philly HM (8K?)<br>
11/22 - Troy Turkey Trot 5k<br><br>
You might see my question there...I have three races I want to do, 3 weekends in a row. I'm thinking I could manage them all fairly okay if I did the 8K instead of the HM at Philly. I'm pretty happy with the way my training has been going, but I'm not dead-set on a half at this point. I can wait. Especially if it means I get to do my races with my dad up here AND manage to fit in Philly.<br><br>
Am I crazy? Or could this work? (Also, let's say the 15K I just want to make my time from last year, the 8K I'd race real hard, the 5K I'd just have fun)<br><br><br>

I would say that the plan to really focus on one of the races (8K) and do the others for fun is sound. I do not know if I could do that. You might be spent after the 15 K, so if your focus is <i>really</i> the 8 K, make sure you do not get carried away in race day adrenaline.

Back from a couple with Hanker. Saw 3 deer and a giant green frog. many squirrels which makes for an additional weight training/resistance work out with the pup. gah.<br><br>
SAD. yeah. oh yeah. i am prone to depression anyway. my strategy is to stay so damn busy i don't have time to think about it. i like to think of it as preventative medicine. winter sports help (snowboarding, skiing, sledding and drinking vodka (kidding...sort of)) running in the winter, walking outside when I can't run, projects, little trips to look forward to...and i usually work a lot.

Plan to run today. I'm thinking a 10K distance, have a 12 mi long run on Sat and won't get in any other runs this week. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.kickrunners.com/forum/images/smilies/sad.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Sad"> The forecast is for showers and t-storms this afternoon, what fun!<br><br>
Meanwhile, I'm tired, have a headache, and I hate the new contact lens cleaner I purchased recently. Need to go back to my old standby.<br><br><b>QOD2Y:</b> Only race on my plan is Philly HM now that the Crim is over. May pick up a 5K here and there, but I'm not committing to anything else at the moment. A turkey trot would be fun except that would be just 4 days post-Philly and I dont' think my hometown has one anyway.

Morning, all--<br><br>
Got back from a relatively miserable 3.06 miles in ~39 minutes. Lots of heavy breathing and difficulty scaling hills. This makes me very nervous about my 54 minute run on Friday. I think the problem was my ab workout on Monday. I'm trying to go to the gym on Monday and Wednesdays to work on my arms and core, but I was really feeling my core this morning. Also, my bladder and I were fighting this morning. I won but I was nervous.<br><br>
Question for planning ahead: OHR ends next week (yea!), and I was thinking of starting coolrunning's 10k training plan. The only problem with this is that I'll be going from 3 to 5 dpw running, and I will be consistingly running a distance that I haven't even run yet (4 miles). I'm currently threatening 10 mpw (sad I know), and the 10k plan tops out at 25 mpw. I think I'm being too ambitious. Maybe I should do the 5k training program which tops out at 20 mpw (still running 5dpw) because it has shorter distances? Any thoughts?<br><br>
I missed most of yesterday, so sorry if I missed a lot. Today is going to be a crazy busy day, so I'll try to check back every once in a while.<br><br>
Oh, my doctor called, and I think they want to take more tissue today. I'm going to convince them to wait until after I finish OHR. I'm too close to stop now.

What's up with the monkey distaste, if I may ask, <b>Moe</b>?<br><br>
Let me just explain my own self a bit that I think the monkeys and apes are fascinating, and while they have a lot more fur than us (although did you know that we have the same density of hair follicles just that our genes suppress the expression of fur?), they have proved to be some fascinating study for the biologists. Some of the species probably have some forms of culture much like us, although it isn't as polite mannered as ours has become due to the oversized brains we got gifted through evolution. But there is pretty strong evidence now that language skills aren't simply confined to humanity, but that there are apes with some capacity to manipulate symbols like our brains do and they are able to understand that sounds and signs can stand as representative for objects, actions, and concepts even.<br><br>
I don't really know what Mr. Howler Monkey is pondering in the picture I'm using for an avatar, perhaps it's as rudimentary as us guys sometimes, "Beers, boobs, good" or maybe he's thinking of something else. I don't know. I just found his expression an interesting one to me, one that reminds me of my own self sometimes, a tendency to look back and think and think and think.

Baby slept til 8 this morning! She wasn't feeling too well yesterday so I think she needed that extra rest. She seems a lot better today.<br><br><b>Bob</b> when is Maggie due? How is she feeling these days?<br><br>
Took the baby for an hour long walk last night. It's really mild here...oddly mild considering the time of year. But I'll take it!<br><br>

No run last night, it was cardio w/ weights. I will complete day 2, week 8 tonight. Looks like it will be on the dreadmill.<br><br><b>Winter</b> could it be couples therapy with booze??
