Morning all,

Just back from lunch. Very Yummy indian food today. Only here they just call it "food"

On the pizza toppings discussion from yesterday...the toppings were just different...we had 4 pizzas (and they don't go for American sizes...they are much smaller) two were veg and two were what they call non-veg...meaning that they have some kind of meat on them. One had chicken and was pretty traditional to what we would have at home. Another, one of the veg pizzas, had corn and other veggies and was very spicey.

So, on the elephant thing. Two nights ago, we passed a truck that was loaded down with some kind of plants. We asked, what's that stuff? They replied with some name that didn't mean anything to us, so we asked, what do they use it for. The reply was That's what they feed elephants. That got us curious, so we said, what elephants? Were are they? How far away? Can we see one?

The answer was that there were some that we could see in a park about 200kms away. Well, we don't have time to make that trip. So, we just agreed that we would go do that on our next visit. Then on the very next morning, on the way to work, there's an elephant on the side of the road. So we were able to stop and get the picture. It was totally cool. They told us that elephants are kept at some of the temples.

I read the rest of the thread this morning after I got up.

I hope KJ is doing well with the surgery.

I don't know if you saw my post from a couple of days ago, but welcome back TimLH.

Well, back to work. I need to edit my presentation for this afternoon.

I hope to get some treadmill time in when we get back to the hotel before we have dinner with the development team leads.

Good morning! And if I don't see you - good afternoon, good evening and good night!

Seriously I hope everyone has a good day and good runs.
Good morning Tim and all who follow. I have running related stuff to post about.

I did my 2.25 miles on the TM tonight after work. The run was tough going at first, but I stuck it out. I knew that I had ran further then my planned distance in the past, so I knew it was mind over body. I turned up the radio and just cruised along at my snails pace. Since it was after midnight I am counting it as my first run in August so that this month is off to a better start then July. I am hoping to reach about 9 miles per week by the end of the month. I know that is low compared to a lot of you, but for me it will be a tough goal to reach. I know I can do it though.

I hope you all have a good Wednesday. I am off to bed now.

Morning, Tim, Kini and all who follow.

I'm supposed to be running now. It's the first morning when I don't want to do it. It's already 67* and I know it's going to be humid when I walk out the door. I just don't feel like hills today, and I can't escape them here in the 'burgh. I'm going to try to do it anyway. Hopefully when I come back, I will have good running to report.

Happy August (rabbit, rabbit) and good running to start the month, folks!

Running in this hot and sticky weather is tough, but you can get some good benefit from it. Over time, it helps improve your body's efficiency at cooling itself, and you'll find yourself more comfortable in hotter weather than more sedentary counterparts. But you'll do a whole lot of sweating anyhow when running in this soup.

No running for me today. I might do upper body stuff after work, arms feel like they're rested up from Sunday night's workout.

morning!

Well, I got in 10 miles last night in 88F temps and sunny. Like, burn my skin off my fair skinned butt, sunny. Run went really well. Best in a while. Finished in 1:33 - about 9:18 a mile. I was going to get up and run this morning but I am being a lazy baggs and didn't get up...I slept instead.

I am now getting some stuff ready for my trip to chi town today. While writing out some info from my email, stupid pen leaked all over my hands. Might not come off in time for the meeting. Nice.

hopefully 6 tonight after I get back or some miles tomorrow MORNING

Mornin' All. Drinking FOGLIFTER coff-ay this a.m. and I. Need. It.

I think I'm catching the summer cold DD has. Which just cannot be. I have no time for down time.

I was just too moo tired to get my arse up to run this morning. I'll walk the doggio and put the run off until after work. I was totally thinking I'd run on the 'mill but after Scratch's post I might suck it up and hit the streets. I so don't tolerate heat well but if this will help me - I'll do it! Thanks Scratch, for the timely informational noodge!

Brandy 10 whole miles in this weather?

I'm getting a little concerned about the heat and the Rochester Half I'm running towards the end of August. Jess! How's your training going?? We're gonna meet up there right?

I'll check back later if I can - I'm finally getting out of the weeds at work.

Happy Trails all!

Good morning, all. Nice runs, guys!

Yeah, bunny bunny or rabbit rabbit, whatever...

I got in an east 3 yesterday evening, followed by 4x100 striders. And fort hose who may have missed it when I posted it yesterday, here is the ever-popular google map from my 3 miles at the track...

Anyway, that run ended my month of July with a modest total of 74.1 miles. (With an additional 79.8 on my bike). That should leave me adequately rested to tackle this next marathon training cycle. I'm guessing I'll be around 130 for August, 160 for September, and maybe I can get my first 200 mile month in October. We shall see...

Philly pholk. Has anyone booked their hotel room yet? If so, where are you staying? Just curious...

I guess that's it for now. Have a great Wednesday, everyone...

Hey folks!!

So another rough PT session and some not so optimistic news. Super therapist told me he was a bit concerned that I haven't progressed farther and he thinks it might not be what we originally though. I asked what it might be and he said "Do you really want to go there?" Um, yeah! So, might be a tear which will require surgery. Not at all what I wanted to hear! On top of the pain I was in yesterday my hand kept going numb so by the time I left he told me to get to an ortho ASAP! Phewey!!!!!

So as of now, no outdoor riding (too much pressure on the shoulder) so I am on the trainer again and pretty much nothing involing weights that will pull the shoulder. It is craptastic, I tell ya!!! I did manage 45mins on the trainer and then did an ab workout I found OnDemand.

Tim I love the reports from India!!!

2oh My DH plays in a fast pitch men's baseball league. They clinched 1st place and the rest of the league is B.A.D. this year so we might be faced with another month of games! What do you play?

Solar It is ridiculous, I am always right around your house when you aren't there!! Oh and from what I saw the Keswick rides are almost all men, I am pretty sure they woul dlove to have you join the ride, nomatter where you bought your bike!!!

Trigirl Yep, it's me!!! I did my first tri this year!!!!! So glad you are back!

Ok, that is all. Off to look busy in the lab.

Oh and a little PSA for Philly peeps. I am local so if you need any help with plans or things once you get here, don't hesitate to ask! I think I might be doing some sightseeing with some people on Friday so if anyone comes in early and wants to join us, just let me know!!!

Good morning!

Another day of computer work today, reviewing transfer credits for students. My eyes are going to go buggy from staring at the computer screen.

Have speedwork on tap tonight. I think I'm going to do it solo, rather than going to the track. Most of the group is going to run a 5K race tomorrow evening, so they probably won't go to the group workout. I'd do the race, but I'll be on my way out of town.

OK, time to get to work.

morning peeps.

8K/5M this morning. It started out really great and strong and then about half way through i just stopped. My head is just not in the game. The rest of it was fitful and blah....

Scratch: I am a perfect example of your heat theory. I never could stand the heat in the summer but now that i'm out there running in it and sweating like a woman should, i don't overheat anymore. I'm actually cold most of the time now. Especially on the days that i run.

lori: if sight seeing means hockey...I'm in!

BigG.: Feel better {{}}

Tim: Hi from Canada.

Adam: Are you going to give yourself the civic holiday off? That would make you a good boss.

Good morning peeps!

Speedwork on the TM this morning. We are experiencing the tail end of tropical storm Chantal here in Newfoundland so it's raining buckets with Thumb of God, no make that Both-Palms-of-God-pushing-you-back winds.

Hi Tim, great elephant pic! I know what you mean about yummy Indian food. My DH used to work in an Indian restaurant so he would always bring home some new dish for us to try. Sometimes it was very interesting, but for the most part really good!

Kini, excellent run! As many have said before me, 90% of the battle is mental and the other 50% is physical! Do you have trouble getting to sleep after running shortly before bed? Whenever I do that I'm up half the night!

Good morning, Prae! I am also a huge HP fan. I wish I could have gone to Harry's bday party with you! Hope you have a good run today!

Hi Scratch! I am so impressed with your progress and your ability to keep up with cross training. I have a bowflex collecting dust in my garage that I keep meaning to use again. I'll try to channel your motivation the next time I start talking myself out of doing weights.

Brandy, nice run! Hope your meeting goes well today!

I'll try a QOD today. I'm not sure if this was asked before, but what was the strangest food you have ever eaten?

I'll have to think about that one myself...

Have a great day! Good runs and rests to all!

Good morning. Today is gym day so no running. Biking and weights instead. I missed my run yesterday, had to clean the pool for a little pool party with some other moms and kiddos. Great day to sit in the pool all day, I might add. Tomorrow I'm going to set my goal for 3.5 miles and "just do it".

Tim, keep posting pics! How long are you going to be there? I need to give DH my camera for his trips. He travels 3-4 wks a month all over the world.

Have a great day, all. Stay cool!

Hey, all--

Well, I guess I should feel like NOT running more often. I decided that since I didn't want to do uphills today, I would run all downhill to the office and then take the bus home. I was debating about working from home today anyway, but I promised my new 14 year old friend that I would e-mail her the pictures I took last night (my Wizard Rocker is even cuter than I thought), so I decided to carry my camera with keys and ID on my run, plus my water. Sounds stupid, right? Well, I just mapped my run: 2.75 miles in 30:39! That's 11:09 pace! Granted, most of it was downhill or level, but I was running on a main road through car exhaust and it's super humid. I don't know how all the folks in the South and SW do this every day, or how you big mileage people do it. Anyhow, though I'm sweating all over my desk (thank God for antibacterial wipes and air freshener), I feel fantastic. Now, I'll just catch the bus home and get to work.

Thanks for the encouragement Scratch and the kick in the @ss trigirl.

Beaker--I hope the shoulder is not as bad as your PT thinks it is.

BigG--Hope you feel better, and congrats on ditching the old house and scoring a new one. When do you move, and how is DS adjusting to the idea?

Excellent running Kini and Brandy.

Nice tatoo LLittleMermaidberg.

Good runs/workouts to everyone.

Morning...

Foglifter coffee BigG? is that a brand or just the high caffeine stuff?

Prae - loved your post last night about the HP event. Not too late to try and get in touch with the singer! Great run this morning, you too Kini!

LL - freakin' awesome work man! Still waiting for my guy's schedule to clear so I can start on my next one.

Beaker - sorry to hear about your shoulder. check your email.

first run of Aug turned out pretty good, just an easy 4 miles but it is not pleasant outside right now. Unfortunately will be spending a lot of time outdoors for the next few weeks so running in the soup will do me good.

QOD - octopus sushi. T and I were at a sushi bar in Nashville sitting at the counter. Sushi Chef was slicing some and I asked what was it - he cut off two extra pieces and set one in front of each of us...was ok until I bit down on one of the suckers - like biting down on rubber. NOT a pleasant experience.

QOD. I've never been terribly adventurous with food. Maybe the weirdest thing I've had has been pickled pigs feet. My mom's ancestors are Lithuanian, and supposedly that's a delicacy there. So of course we had to try it. Not really my cup of tea...
