Good morning, Jen, and all who follow.

Yeah, welcome back, Crane!

Thanks to everyone who answered my etiquette question from page 8 of yesterday's thread. I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't being a jerk to that guy; that certainly wasn't my intent...

I got in a decent run last night in the hot, humid conditions. A little over 4 miles at a 9:03 pace. Considering the heat, it wasn't really east, but it certainly wasn't west either. As I asked last night, does that make it north? south? Do we need a new definition?

If I feel okay tonight -- and the weather holds up -- I may go out for a real west run. I'm planning on doing a 5k a week from Saturday, and it's been a while since I've really gone full speed. So I'm thinking tonight maybe I should do a trial run -- run 12.5 laps around a track at race pace, or something very close to it. Should be interesting. We'll see...

Well, have a good day, folks...

Holy cow, I'm caught up on the thread! I'll have to get in to work early more often!

So I did a quasi-brick workout last night...a baby brick, if ya like. I got home from work after my wife took both girls to swim lessons so I had an hour to myself. I hopped on my bike and checked out a new trail near my house that is nearly complete - it's short but hilly so I zipped around on that for a bit and rode around my neighborhood for a whopping 30 minutes of riding, and then I decided to do a 3 mile run as well. I hadn't ridden long enough to feel the jelly legs but it was pretty warm so I worked up a decent lather. Coupled with 9 miles in the morning, it was a good day! Today will be Baggio-esque as well - I got in 5.3 miles this morning and have another 10 planned for tonight. It's so muggy here that I'm really looking forward to freezing my cajones off in San Francisco in a few weeks!

QOY re: Airplanes - since I typically sit next to large sweaty men, I put the tunes on. On a recent flight I actually sat next to a petite cute little thing and she made me feel quite old - for the record, she chatted to me so it wasn't like I was hitting on her, but she told me all about her boyfriend the cop in San Diego and how she was visiting him and blah blah blah...I felt like saying "Sweetie, you lost my interest at the word 'boyfriend'...now let me just stare at you for a few hours." Once ona Greyhound I took the very last seat next to a sweet, grandmotherly looking woman who said quite loudly to me "I'm glad it's you sitting here and not one of those colored people!" (It didn't make sense to me because pale white IS a color!) I can't confirm it, but I think I saw a white pointy hat, almost like a hood, sticking out of her bag, so she may have been part of the Klan! I got to hear all about her 9 grandkids and entire family and life story and the whole time I was praying she'd keep the racist comments to herself and that people wouldn't think she and I were travelling together!

Have a good day, all!

Morning Chris, Jen, Bob and everyone else who gets in here.

Got 4 miles in last night on the treadmill. Don't have anything planned today. I'm trying to take it easy this week. My legs have been feeling a little worn down and NYC marathon training begins next week so I want to make sure I'm fresh.

DW headed out at o'dark-thirty this morning for Chicago. She won't be home until 11 tonight so it's all day/all night with the kiddies. Hope they behave!

Bob, that 5K sounds pretty cool!

Well I gotta go get the gang ready for camp. At least the humidity seems to have left us. It's only 75 out right now. Nice.

Welcome back Craney!!! You were dearly missed on your trip.

BigG So so cool that they loved you so much that they offerred you not one, not two, but three different positions. And they are paying relo costs. And they upped the $$. Deep breaths and merlot will mitigate the stress.

Winter - Welcome back, and super cool pics of the west coast. And big ups for standing proud for your brother.

People stopping for directions - Guess I am in the minority here, but I will always stop and try and assist. During my train wreck LR a few months ago, I had a very elderly couple stop and ask directions for a church. I had no clue where it was. About 1/4 mile later, I saw the church, and felt guilty (the couple ended up going the opposite direction).

No run for me today, but I do have another chiro visit lined up. Back is definitly feeling better.

Morning all!

Getting a late start - or, a pleasant sleep-in, if you will - so must be brief.

Welcome back Crane! Glad your trip was so great, glad to hear about the simplified wedding plans.

Winter - great pictures...I'm so glad you found the ocean and an appreciation for long runs. And mucho congratulations to your brother and his partner - it sounds like it was a great ceremony and yay to Canada for letting it happen!

Bob - are you the one with the garmin report for past track workouts? Don't forget to share them this time!

Pacer - Your baby-brick is approx 1 mile shorter than my first ever normal-brick...

QODY#2 - I'm a weekly flyer as well, so I have my techniques for avoidance down to a T. Right now my trips are short enough that if I got to talking with a seat mate, I'd manage just fine. But generally, this is my one last bit of downtime before I get to work or get home. So I like to read my New Yorker, listen to some music, contemplate clouds, and not have non-purposeful conversation.

Other than that, my BF can attest that I'll talk to anyone. A lot.

I must run tonight, I'm hoping it magically drops to 70-something here in Baltimore.

Have a good day all!

Hey, it's Wednesday.

I was lazy this morning. All this heatmidity, wake up and it's all foggy outside, and it's hard to get inspired about rolling the bike out. I can do the running, I like running so much more than cranking the pedals.

I spotted something cool the other day, looks like there's going to be a 5K in September that will be only about 1.5 miles from where I live. By that time, I should be able to jog there to warm up, run the 5K, and then cool down by running the distance back home.

Gotta start getting my day organized.

Hey folks!

So I took yesterday off too. The foot, it isn't good. I took the bandaid off to put some more antibiotic cream on it and the foot is so swollen that the cut has opened up even more. If I had any sense I would be home today with the foot elevated and iced. But I am back at work where I will stand all day yet again and hobble around!!! Good times!!!! Worst part is I have a 64mile bike ride this weekend!!!! So I need this to heal up!

Craney Welcome back, we missed you!!! Your wedding is about the 2 of you, do whatever makes you happy!

Mandy and Nettie DJ Jazzy Jeff lives 3 doors down from a friend of mine!!!

Winter Wait a minute!!! Your brother and his DH cooked dinner for his own wedding?! Did I read that right?! WOW!!! Much love to them both on their new married adventures!

Jen The doggie cocaine comment made me almost spit coffee all over my desk!!

Ok folks, off to the lab. Apparently none of my experiments yesterday were a success and I am not pleased with this!!

Hello all...

Good to see you Craney! Missed you terribly, and I am so glad you found peace with the wedding thing!

Very quick update.
Q'sOY-

Spit-Heckyeah I spit! see below
Mental games- yes

Weird others- When I spit out my gum, or other non typable items, I try to aim for the storm sewers.

Ortho- I think the ortho Dr. did well and took time with me, but the only thing that hurt when he was doing my exam was my groin/hip, same places as last year. So he thinks the knee pain is related to the hip issue of last year. He wants me to have a MRI on my hip, threw around the words Labral Tear and surgery, which scares me. (I have no time for surgery and rehab at this point in my life, I have two little boys that need both Mommy and Daddy to play ball etc with them.) Most everything that I have read about Labral Tears is that there is pain during exercise, I don't. There is a thread over in CR in the MED Tent, I will also start something over here in Sidelines.

I am off to a training!
morning everyone!

Crane - You are back and you found us!! Yippee!! You'll have to catch me in order to trip me

Running - 5 east this morning - nice and cool out! I have to do my long run tomorrow morning - yippee. At least I can go in at 9 a.m. instead of 8. That makes it a little easier. Not that I don't like getting up at 3 a.m. :p

Asking for directions - Is this the QOD? - I get this at least once a week. I try to help if I can and if I can't and then I see said location of question, I feel guilty too like Tim.

I did have it checked out when I got a tetnus shot, she said it was ok, might have done well with a stitch or two but it was too late for it then. She said it looked clean and should be fine. But I think being on my feet all day isn't helping anything, it is causing it to swell up. And at this point I can't take a sick day for it becuase I never reported my injury to our medical office. yes, even though I got hurt on my time, I need to report any injury. Stupid I know! My goal is to pack in as much as I can today and tomorrow and maybe take Friday off for R&R!!!

Yesterday's workout:
35 mins on the elliptical
Upper body weights
45 min Spin class

Then went home and ate outrageous amounts of food, thus nearly negating it all.

Today's workout:
Drinks and dinner after work with folks from a different internet board.

Moderation in everything, right?

It's not a running board! Honestly.
I may not even go. My horoscope this morning said "Don't socialize with people who do not know you. They will bore you to tears." I am totally not kidding.

Good Morning to all my lovely Invisible Friends!!!

Massive wind in Duluth yesterday, I counted 12 downed trees, 6 broken in half trees and one utility pole that was definitely NOT in it's upright and locked position on my way home last night. Power out almost all over the city. We had power at my house but no internet and we only lost 4 trees on the hill by the river. Unfortunately, none of them were the ones we wanted to lose. . .

Did do an hour on the rowing machine last night, and got in some extra ab work, too! Felt like a stud. Well, whatever the female version would be. . .WAIT! I know!!! I felt like a MARIA!! Yep. That's what I felt like.

Theia My bad - tell you what, you come out here, we'll go chat up all my bartender friends together!!

WinterYou were not hoggin' yesterday! Gorgeous pictures. I'm so happy for your brother, too! Not only that he found his Bob, but that he has you for a sister. Looks like a very good time was had!!

YQOD Directions, totally depends where on the run I am, if it's in the middle and I'm doing my damnedest just to breathe and it's a creepy lookin' car, not stoppin'. If it's around my driveway, yeah, sure okay.

Today is the opening day of SIDEWALK DAYS in downtown Duluth. This means tons of great vender food, lots of good sales - including at the fabulous shoe store across the street. . .definitely shoppin' at lunch today!

Hi guys. Bagged my run this morning, I blame the rain I was "hearing" outside. Actually I did here some wet stuff, but I wanted more sleep. And even now I wanna go back to bed. so. sleeep.... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

My MIL emailed me last night. Apparently my SIL and I are in charge of cooking fo our upcoming camping trip. So that's friggin' fantastic in 2 days I have to figure out how to cook for 12 people (6 are kids, ages 1-7yo). Pork roast and tacos sounds like a plan I guess.

Need to go catch up on y-day's thread.
