Hi all,

Been quite the busy Duck at work this week. I've managed to get my workouts in despite fighting a throat cold. Tuesday night was swimming for 45 minutes, did some treading water and some long underwater stuff. I was able to swim the length of the pool on one breath in about 16 or 17 seconds and even did it twice for good measure. That's a bit faster than when I started out a couple of months ago.

Happy Hump Day everyone. Healing vibes to anyone else fighting off colds, injuries or fatigue.

Crane - Hope things get better for you and your loved ones soon.

QOD: Do you camp? If so, do you rough it or do you use an RV/Trailer?

My answer: Yes, I love camping. Right now if I go with the family we use a trailer. If I go with friends we rough it and hike in somewhere.

Morning Duck and all who follow.

I just finished up a nice 3 mile run. It felt rather nice and relaxing most of the way through. I think on Saturday I am going to try for 3.5 miles.

Have a great Wednesday everyone. I will see you all after I wake up.

Morning Luvs!!!
Still pouring rain. Ehh...we need it. And its been some great days if you're a duck (not a DUCK).

My inlaws are going to be in Indianapolis next weekend and want to meet us for lunch. Gah. Its already started...."i've checked your drive time and its four hours...don't you think that's too far??" um no...believe it or not i had sense enough to check it too...and it isn't 4 because you can't frigging drive from central ohio for 4 hours and still be in the stoopid state....
All that lovin' wrapped in a big bundle of 'we couldn't be more disappointed that our son married you.' Can't. Wait.
Shit totally sucks out my Roo, man....

Craney.... I don't cry often, but when I do, its like that. My mom says I cry like I love lucy.... xoxoxo

Myron hows the pup?

MCT cool stuff on India...though you all totally lost me with the beer talk...its like why i don't do speed work outs (if i have to combine something i love with math...it won't be something i love anymore). I also don't combine science with beer... the physics involved in screwing off the cap vs working the bottle opener is enough for me.

Donkey Dark, not oily, black, strong. A good kenyan or columbian is money. mostly...i just don't like to be able to see through it. Its my one vice and I'm comfortable with it.

I forgot QODY... what a turd I am.
When I was a kid...the A-team. I wanted to be me. Or wonderwoman. I wanted to be her. I think we all have heard my spinning singing episodes in the backyard where I was devestated to find myself not magically in underoos and hooker boots.
Shows now??? Inked is very very much like my real life. In fact, I quit watching it because of that. However, I wouldn't mind hanging out there too...almost did this last year at Hell City, but I got sick and had to go home. Boo.

QODTODAY
yes, yes, yes, yes, and yes please. have a tent. i keep it real though...
that's a wutang shirt. cuz the wutang clan ain't nutin' to f*ck with....

this is me hiding a beer behind my chair...

Good night Kini!

Good morning Duck!

Good morning 30's!

I am in a much better mood today. I did have to bag my run this morning. I woke up to a downpour. My goodness, we need it, though.I'm hoping it will dry up by this afternoon. DD1 has soccer practice tonight and she is now just getting into the swing of things and enjoying it.

QODI used to. When I was in high school, I worked a summer camp for 3 years. We lived in tents. It was awesome. When DH and I were engaged, we would go camping in a trailer, but DH is really not the outdoorsy type. After one year of trying, we gave up. I have not been since. I do miss it.

Have a great day everyone!

Scratch, love your new avatar. It looks just like you, with the little backpack I assume is full of weights!

Bah. Must leave for work in a moment.

My calf issues seem to be worse than better this week - and are compounding as a shin splint problem as well. I'm not happy.

Went to the gym for 5 on the TM last night - my calf was SO tight, I managed 1 mile, walked a 1/4, ran another 1. Gave up. After what it took to get through 10 on Sunday with the same issues, it seemed I'd probably be exacerbating things rather than anything else if I kept going.

So I stretched a lot and hopefully will be better on my 3 miles tonight.

Theia - hope that ankle's feeling okay this morning!

Maria - anytime you and J want to come up for an almost-Adirondack weekend of patio sitting and/or trying out your HGTV skills on any one of my other little projects (ever want to tile? ), you're more than welcome!

Okay, a few QOD before I go...

QODYY - ran in HS, was middle of the packer. Quit altogether until 2005, my dad and I made a pact to run a Turkey Trot together. Found CR not too long after and decided to keep running, if all these cool 30somethings were doing it too!

QODY - Dunno. My first thought was I'd be most appropriate in My So-Called Life. But I've got to have more fun than that if I'm on TV...I dunno!

QOD - In my brother's backyard at his annual pig roast. That's about it. Though most people, upon meeting me, assume I'm a big camper. Seriously - that's something people say they are surprised to learn I don't do. Just because the opportunity hasn't been there, not because I wouldn't.

Have a great day, all!

Roo Jaeger is doing pretty good - he went out with me for 4.5 miles last night at about 7:45 pace. Probably would have been a little faster, but we ran about a mile in the grass which slowed us down some. How's Hank?

QOD I like backpacking - which is pretty much roughing it... I take a tent, sleeping bag and pad, and noodles/rice/dried foods, beef jerky that kind of stuff. My friends and I walk about 5-10 hilly miles then setup camp. Then continue the next day or two until we are at our destination. I'd love to someday thru hike the Appilacian trail. I think that will have to come after DS is grown, maybe we can do it together - I'll let him carry most of the gear since I'll be a geazer

DW and I used to go "car camping" we don't have a trailer or RV, so we would go to a KOA, get a tent site with outlet. Setup a fan, blow up the queen sized air mat, have a cooler full of "beverages", use a portable grill to cook. Hardly roughing it. We always went to the same KOA at the Outer Banks, and we'd walk to the beach. It was fun, but definately not roughing it - although DW still thinks we were roughing it - which I find funny

Again, Thanks for welcoming new comers. I'll just jump right in. Ran 3 miles last night. Already looking for reason not to run my 5 tonight...it's raining...I could possibly melt...ya know.

Roo...Dark, not oily...got it.

QOD: I've camped....would camp again., not a huge fan of group facilities though. I think I'll eventually get a pop up...take the kids. I've never truly "roughed it".

Hey folks!!! Didn't make it to the gym last night, more car stuff!!! I am getting to the point that I don't care what the heck DH gets, just get SOMETHING!!! Though I guess it is a good sign that he won't make a huge financial decision without me, right?!

I see we have another fine 30 from the great state of NJ!!! Wohoo Donkey!!!!

Theia how is the ankle?

Roo have a blast with the inlaws, sounds super fun!!!! I actually did luck out with in laws. I am dying to hear your fun QOD!!!!

QOD: I never camped growing up but started after college. Friends and I would go on rafting trips and camp a night or two. DH loves it, spent spring break one year on the AT. He recently got all new equipment so hopefully in the coming years we can manage a few trips. Though I do like the LLbackyardberg version too!!

Morning Gang!

Happy Wednesday - it's still dark here. BUT!! Did get my first sighting of Orion this morning - so now it's official - the seasons are changing.

QOD - Used to camp. Camped for 3 weeks on our honeymoon, that was wonderful: MN to Wyoming to Glacier to Seattle to Cannon Beach to CO to New Mexico. Then, had an experience in the Boundary Waters and decided (lo these 8 years ago now) that camping should always involve a roof, a bed and a clean flushing toilet.

Roo - I completely respect the not mixing beer with other things. Why mess with a good time?

Second QOD for y'all (notice the correct use of the apostrophe, Beth? ) What is/are your favorite story(ies) that your parents tell about you from when you were really little?

Good Morning
{{Theia}} I hope the ankle feels better

DS#2 went on a field trip yesterday to a logging camp. I asked him if he liked the field trip......"the cookies and cider were really good." I asked him specific questions kept getting the above answer.

QOD not much of a camper...camping for me is a hotel room without a view and room service.

QOD#2 my brother would watch me on Saturday nights. He started smoking when he was 14 or 15. We would walk to the corner store and he would buy me m&m's and a pop so I would not tell my parents. He would then make me mad and I would tell on him everytime. The next weekend....repeat.

QOD2: Right after I was born, my dad was working full time and going to law school at night. My mom is very shy and neither of my parents would ever be classified as really being kid-people. We've often joked that I learned how to read out of self-defense. When I was 3 my parents had another couple over for dinner. I was sitting on the couch reading a book. The husband of the other couple came over and asked me to read to him - so I did. My mom told him that I was really reading it and wasn't just reciting. He didn't believe her. She told him to pick a random page and have me read it. So, he did. He picked a page, I read it and then he believed. The page he picked: The copyright information page.

Thiea - Take care of that ankle.

I know that Nettie gave you some suggestions to stabilize it, but maybe someof our athletic trainer types (kp??) can lend some advice.

A real running question. Well, a running gear question. I actually have something in common with Pacer - We are both vertilcally challenged. As winter approaches (the season, not the lovely Canadian), I have started looking for some running pants, and everything I have is too long. I have some plder pants, but they all bunch at the ankles. Even if I grab something off the rack that is size S. (Which I am far from). Any suggestions.
