Morning All..

Up early for no good reason, (eh, what was that QOD yesterday, yeah me too) puppy walk done, and speaking of which, how screwed up is that "stop chewing on the HOUSE" is a known command?

Myron- EXCELLENT 5k time!!! Woot!

Doc Chris - ARGH (Pirate photo) and OUCH (shoulder) that truly bites. Here's to quick healing.

Craney - <snort> breath-mint diet.. I'ma use that one.

Hey Brandy/Korbels - who WON the bet? huh? Huh?

Daisy - what's up with the littlest sister-birthing?

Ann - Me likey people who screw up lyrics - always makes me laugh. What exactly are sheaves anyway?

I have no QOD, as usual... be back later for it I hope, work is kicking my tail this week.

Good morning. Just got back from a muggy sweaty run. 10 minutes easy, 20 minutes at estimated 10K pace, almost 11 minutes at easy pace again. Tough, but it felt good. I want to do a run like this every 3 weeks, it'll help to keep the training runs from always feeling like slogfests of easiness.

Will check in some more later.

Morning Jen and Scratch. Good work on mixing up the runs. Variety = spice.

I am moving very slowly this morning, this is definitely the worst time of day. If you want my Ibuprofen, you can have it just as soon as you pry it from my cold, dead hands.

One more Boston picture. I worked for 3 years at this ice cream place. On our visit, I got behind the counter and had my friend take a picture. Man, making and serving ice cream. Those were the days!

Morning 30s!

Not sure I'll be running today, but I did get in a walk this morning. a little less than 2.

Tonight is the first rehearsal of Cat and I've got to assume my duties as costumer by measuring the cast tonight. I'm nervous! (Not about measuring, about being responsible! ) Anyway, I'm meeting a friend for dinner beforehand, and I don't know if I'll have enough time to run.

Jen, I don't think "stop chewing on the house" is that unusual. In our house, it's "drop the sock!"

Also, "sheaves" as in "sheaves of wheat"...bundles if you will.

Ann, my husband's family are notorious for using the wrong word for things...or just making words up. DRIVES.ME.UP.A.F'ING.WALL. My favorite irritation is this pronounciation: roth iron. I don't know why they say "wrought" that way, but they all do. Personally, I think it's 1) laziness and 2) disregard for the meaning of words. One time, I said to my MIL as we were passing a subway station, "ya know, that's an interesting T station, because it has an art gallery in it." Her repsonse? "What's a heart gallery? I don't know...because there is no such thing. Good grief. Yes, this is a HUGE pet peeve of mine. I'll stop now.

I should run. It's getting late and I'm making a concerted effort to get to work on time.

Ciao for now,

Morning all.

Did 4 miles last night with hill work built in. It was steamy out.

A rather uneventful day on tap. DW just left for Boston for the day. She'll be home after dinner. Today is going to be an elliptical day. My upper thigh has been bothering me a bit lately. Not sure what to do about it. It's not really painful just feels like it's weak overall. Maybe a strained quad. Hope not.

Great pictures Chris! Sorry about your shoulder.

Myron - excellent 5K time!

Have a great day everyone!

Moe 'splained it really well. I'm still laughing about it...

HighHeat...you'll get used to the Friday stuff. Refer to Crane's post whenever you get confused. And I kinda can't believe I even made that comment, although it was just too dang funny to pass up.

Took an off day yesterday, which would be the same as what I would do on my running schedule. I was supposed to go to the dentist this morning, but they called at 7:30am and said my hygenist was sick so they rescheduled. Now I'm debating whether to go into work early, or take advantage of the extended morning for a bike ride. Got stuff to do tonight...heh. Decision made. I think I'll see if I can get in 12-16 right now...got a 4 mile loop through the neighborhood. That sounds like a good plan! Be back in an hour or so...

Later taters!

Hey folks!!!!

Not much to say today, yesterday was a rest day for me. Went to Kohl's in search of bargains instead. Got some Nike stuff on sale, was happy about that! Uneventful night in general.

Tonight will be a swim, PT consult, then a bike ride.

Moe you look so fantastic in that picture Doc posted last night!!!!!! Hey Doc, you don't look so bad yourself mister!!!!

RE: messing up song lyrics...makes me laugh too! My favorite was from an episode of friends when Pheobe thought it was "Hold me closer Tony Danza", I still sing it like that to this day!

Ok, insanity abounds in the lab, must get to it!

What I've learned so far today:

Dr. Chris spends his vacations moonlighting as a scoop jockie

JustJen is an early bird Starting the thread twice in a row!

And it was humid in Philly (or there abouts) last night too.

I have a feeling it's going to be a busy day here. Hopefully I'll make it back to post some more.

Ack. Back to work after a day off. Boooo!

Yeah, Myron, great 5k! I think I might be able to beat that time in a 5k some day... if I fall out of a plane 5000 meters up without a parachute...

I feel good this morning after my speedwork yesterday. I'm happy I did my last mile in 7:08, even though I was shooting for 7:00. And speaking of 5ks, I think I might have a shot of breaking my 5k PR of 22:23 this coming Saturday. The biggest obstacle could be the heat, since the tarmac at the airport soaks up the heat. Last year, someone told me that the race temp was 120!! But the forecast for Saturday is cool (high of 77) and cloudy. That should really help...

Did I tell you guys that I'm heading out to Vegas tomorrow? I'll be attending a conference all day Thursday. I'll be there barely 36 hours, so it won't be too much time for fun. But it'll be nice just to get away for a little while. And we'll see if I can sneak in a run on The Strip (again)...

Morning, all.

Blanket healing wishes to all those ill and torn and such.

Good luck to those stepping up their training plans for various things. Cripes, Scratch, 'slogfests of easiness'?!?!? That's my new favorite phrase - and something I think I can finally use to describe my runs.

Moe - my BF and family are like that as well - impending apopolypse anyone? Drives me batty. Worse is Andrew knows it!

I woke up with a sore throat yesterday and it's much worse today. No other symptoms of anything, so I'll just try not to talk at work. Blech. We'll see how I feel and then I'll decide how much I'll run later.

DrChris - ice cream maker and server! - glorious sticky mess, I'm certain. Sounds like it was a fun job!

QOY - sleep like a baby, or a cat. I take so many naps that I feel guilty. Anything less than 7 - 8 and I feel wiped all day. Definitely not like the group here! I'm so sorry that so many of you don't get a lot of sleep!!

Have a good day all!

Bob, I thought Vegas was fun if you had at least 2 hours. 36! you should have plenty of time to cause a ruckus. At least, that's what I see in the movie-films.

Good morning everyone!

Got an awesome run in this morning, 3 miles with a sprint at the end. The dog was even panting at the end of this run. I love getting my runs in before my girls wake up.

Scratch, it was kinda humid this morning, but not as bad as a few weeks ago.

Beaker, gotta love Kohl's! I picked up some great Nike stuff there last week. Maybe I should go back this week.

I guess it's going to be another hot one today, I'll probably end up in the pool again later today. Have a good one everyone, and stay cool.

My wife is notorious for effing up song lyrics - some of her highlights:
1. During basketball warmups in high school, she's singing to herself and her best friend asked "What was that you said?" My lovely wife responds "Jump off the bayou. You know - the song that's playing right now." It was Pump Up The Volume. Her friend nearly peed herself.
2. Listening to a Bob Marley song, my wife asks me what the lyrics were - it was "Is there a place for the hopeless sinner?" She thought it was something about an old placenta. Not one of her brainier moments for sure.

She's got a couple of other Hall of Fame knuckleheaded moments - such as being pissed because her Egg McMuffin came with egg on it (and no, she didn't ask them to hold the egg), and wondering how those astronaut pens write backwards - but she gave me some cute kids so I'll keep her.

Got in 8 east miles this morning, about 7:30-7:40 pace with a friend - nice & cool outside. I was a little sore because I had an hour solo last night so I hopped on my mtn bike and rode to the high school to see if they're done installing my new track (almost) and then rode down to this little island near my house. I had hoped there would be some good trail for running but I quickly found myself engulfed by vegetation and prickly bushes, so I turned around and rode home and ran 2 mile in the neighborhood. A quasi-brick, if you like. I think I'm going to broach the subject of a long distance du in Aug with my wife today - hopefully she's in a generous mood! I need to sign up for it to force myself onto the bike - I might even shave my legs to really guilt myself into riding!

GatorBob, PTom and Trevor - I sent LLCoolBeans my training program for NYC - Bob if you're interested in looking at it and getting some ideas for your program let me know. Tom & Trevor - if you'd take a look at it and let me know if you think there's some holes in it, I'd appreciate your perspective. It always helps to have a fresh set of eyes looking at your plan. I really just planned out my 3 key workouts each week so it's not too cumbersome.

Morning All...
Run last night with poochie turned into a walk because along with socks, my dryer apparently eats drawstrings out of work out capris, too. They stay up just fine walking...running however is a whole 'nuther thing. Gah. Found an awesome new path though.

Pup did great though and no pulling. YaY! Although apparently I missed the sign that said 'no dogs' at this park (and was confused obviously since I saw like 8 other dogs there....) and some lady had to get salty about it with me. She then watched me until I took my dog and went home. Grf.

Which leads me to a QOD are you helpful and tell people when they are wrong or do you wait for them to ask?

I am very much into staying outta OPK (other people's koolaid). If you ask me something I'll be happy to tell you. Otherwise...that's ya own business. Likewise you can do something wrong 800 times, and until you ask me, "dude, do you know how to do this" I am not going to fix it for you. In my classes I might say, "how's that workin for you? can you show me how to do that again? can you tell me why you did that? or why did you choose that?" That said, if I have some kind of issue that is bugging me and I dish it, I'm always happy for someone to say, "i did this....it helped me."

I have another question. I won't be able to work out at RPAC (osu's facility...and it is amazing...i am really going to miss it....) since i won't be there. So I am looking for a new gym. Teaching job is 45 minutes away or so. Do you think its a better idea to be close to home, or close to work?

Jen: I love you. You know I do. I am so, so sorry I laughed out loud and maybe snorted a little at Mojo's new command. Really. Also, I go to doggie school tonight!!! And I might have been to the post office....

Staci: YAY!!!!!!! As good looking as all the Grimes kids!! And have you ever noticed we post at the same time, a lot?

Doc: Pirate Hooker..... Also... listen to yourself when you tell yourself what to do (at least about the shoulder) or in addition to a hurt shoulder, you may find yourself with a foot up your ass...and how're you going to explain THAT to your patients when I have to hop into the examining room with you???

Moe: Hank has a thing for socks too. My cat who died about a year ago did too. Cat would have to find them. Hank steals them. Ya know how you lay out under clothing? I can't do this anymore, otherwise it is the great sock war.

Crane: Really has been nice to have you back!!!

KP: I fixed egg white/bacon/tomato sammiches last night for dinner and giggled like an idiot the entire time i fried the bacon.

Pacer, sure, I wouldn't mind seeing your training program. I think I'm leaning towards doing the same plan I did for Cincy. But since I'm not 100% convinced of that, I'd love to look at other options. Normally I try to make each marathon training plan a little harder than the previous one. But with a baby due about 5 weeks before Philly (and thus right smack dab in the middle of the hardest weeks of training), I'm not sure I want to try and make this too difficult... We'll see...

PM Games - do not want to sound like a party pooper here, but I may start ignoring these - just do not have the time to keep up.

Frankie - Hang in there dude. We all go through slumps and rough patches. We all have stress in our lives - running should relieve stress, not add to it. Ask youself why you are running in P-Town. Are you doing it to have some fun, meet some 30s peeps, and have a goal to work towards so that you keep in shape, and actually get fitter. If you can not go through a full blown training plan, and have to scale back, that is OK with the mind set I describe. If you have more agressive\loftier goals, than it may end up just being another stress in your life. I like HMs (even though I am slow) because I have to work at them (i.e., need a certain amount of training), but it is an amount of work I can handle at this point. I have no desire to run a full because it would be too much for me overall at this point. Could I do a full if I put my mind to it? Probably. But running would become less fun and more like work for me. And who needs more work.

{{{Doc's bad wing}}} ALthough the prospect of oneHandedDrunkPosting+pain meds has almost unlimited comedic potential. Nice pics of you and the lovely Maureen.

Dang Myron - when are you gonna shoot for sub 20?

dob Dave - good luck with the back. I am slowly getting back into things.

Mandaroo - My gym is at my office, for several reasons. First, work pays for it Mostly, however, it works better with my schedule that way - I drive to work early, and beat rush hour. I can then run, or do whatever, then hit the shower and go to work. On the weekends, I shower\clean up at home.

Thx for all of the good vibes yesterday - very much appreciated.

A lovely 9 M this AM. Well, not that lovely, because I have not run much in the last month or so, but I did it, and the back is OK. Ran down on LI Sound (Greenwich Point Park, which apparently CoachT is familiar with)

Auntie Space Cutie patootie.

QOD - I will help if asked.
Started packing last night. 5 people for a cross country trip with a week long cruise adds up to a lot of suitcases.

Morning,

5.30 miles in 56:28 this morning. I need to hydrate better. All things were good (breathing, legs, even pace) but I started to overheat about half way through. Makes it tough to even want to push it.

Miss Daisy: Congratulations! Being an aunt is serious business. You get to spoil without reprecussions. nice pic.

Doc: Jazz hands and ice cream? What more can anyone ask for?

Frankie: Are you going to Philly or not. Confused is what I am.

Maureen: You are looking wonderful, dahling.
