Dewpoint of 72 degrees when I went out for a tempo run today. That just felt yucky running in that. 10 minutes, 25 comfortably hard, 10 easy again.

I need a shower, like 10 whole showers.

Morning. I tried to beat the heat this morning, but 5:30 was already sticky! Ick. But, I got it done. I'm 5/5 on my revised training plan for Grand Rapids and Philly. I'm still struggling with settling in to a new routine, but at least I'm getting the runs in...seems to be helping my attitude about the rest. Who knew?

I started to catch up last night, but I got interrupted. Hope all is well with everyone!

Good morning 30s!

Tap dancing is HARD. I wasn't any good in college and I'm still not. I will say this much...I was a little more free with my movements than I was in college; dancing in front of the mirror wasn't the nightmare it has been in the past. I wonder if singing in front of the mirror will be easier now too? Funny how you can get more comfortable with yourself, even when you've been around yourself for your whole life. I would go so far as to say it's taken me roughly 37 of my 39 years to feel ok about myself, and even then I have moments of doubt. Difficult stuff, this body image.

I WILL RUN TONIGHT. There, I said it. 2. I think 2. I don't know what the sched says but it's something like that.

No fighting, boys. You're all superheroes in my book.

I should run, but I'll check in later.

Ciao, peeps

G'morning, all!
4+ running and 7+ cycling last night. 7 running on schedule tonight - will be late as I have a meeting after work.

Amy and Scratch...Way to get out there this morning. I had thoughts of it...then rolled over and fell back asleep. Will regret it later as it supposed to rain but they don't expect it to help the high temps or humidity.

Moe...Next stop Broadway?

Mandaroo...No, I have not seen Talented Mr. Ripley. Good? Worth renting?

Voo...Ya-ha-whoey!! Awesome job turning 1,000 miles for the year (and past last year's number at this time). I'm no where near you but am also ahead on my miles from last year.

We're having new front doors installed today (storm and screen). Yea!!!! Man, when did the completion of home repairs become such a high point in my life?

Later, taters!

I'm hoping for Eliot St right at the moment!

BTW, I forgot to mention...this is what DH did on his summer vacation (the pic isn't him...it's from the company website):

Moe, most importantly, was the tap dancing fun?

Yeah, Voodoo, great job hitting 1000 miles ytd already. That's a lotta runnin'.

I'm envious of you guys who got the runs in early today. I'll be out there at 5:00 or 6:00pm when it's still 90ish. But at least today is an east 3, so hopefully it won't be too bad. Yesterday was a 6.5 mile tempo run, and the Monday tempo runs are always the ones I find most difficult each week. So even if it's 90, today's run should feel like a piece of cake. I hope...

Have a great day, y'all...

Morning, all

Didn't get back on the computer yesterday until late last night. Was packed to leave the shore when we realized we had to take my 90 year old grandmother to the hospital. Another round of congestive heart failure. Turns out there may have been a small heart attack, too. Cripes. We've been through this a lot with her, but she's been good for the past 2 years. She's a fighter. I don't panic anymore -- she's lived a long, good life. I just hope that when this stuff happens, whether she bounces back or this is it, that they make her comfortable... I'll be heading back to the hospital and the shore a little later.

So, I picked up a couple things skimming through the thread last night:
Awesome pics, Bard, Staci, Mary and Tiff
Theia, loved your reunion story! Fantastic!
HELLO! to Keriksen and Saucon. And to Litch, because I haven't said hello in a while, I think

re: middle/edges: I lean toward the edges, but if only the middle is available, that is just fine

re: pick-up scenarios while running: Reminds me of the time I was running the Art Museum loop in Philly. Was finishing my 10ish mile run, had about 1 more mile to go. I see a hot guy stretching (no visible ring), so I say, "hey, how 'bout helping me finish my last mile?!"
him: how can I pass up an offer like that?
and we proceed to run back to Boathouse Row together, chatting the whole way about where we live, where we work, etc
Until,
him: Oh, there's the wife! (pushing a stroller, I might add)
me: Huh. Great! Ok, then, thanks for finishing out my run with me.
him: (stopping in front of the wife and stroller while said wife is shooting me death-ray eyes) Uh huh.

Rats. He was a cute one...

Today's supposed to be a rest day, but I'm going to try to get some yoga and swimming done... Have a good day, everyone!

Hey folks. A little bike time yesterday and a really good PT session! Then sweated my butt off cleaning the pool. It pretty much baked over the weekend so it needed lots of chemicals and a good old scrubbing!

Solar prayers for your grandmom!!!

Got some upsetting news this morning. My friend (who was in my wedding) had her baby over 2 months early (did the same with her first). Her daughter weighed in at 3lbs and 4 oz. Luckily she was breathing on her own but was still taken to the NICU. My friend, however, is in the ICU,she had many complications and has had 2 surgeries to try and stop bleeding. she is on a vent to help her body heal. Apparently she is getting better and they hope to move her out of ICU in a few days but if you all could muster some good vibes and prayers for her, it would be much appreciated!!!!

That is all from here. No way I could get through the board yesterday, too much stuff in there. Off to the lab, major issues and the stress level is peaking!

Oh, Moe, glad you enjoyed tap!!!

Was too muggy this AM for me to run outside - that is a first. Instead of running a slow 9 M semi-long run (original plan), I did 8.5 M on the TM, mixing in 10 min intervals at ~10K pace. And I was sweating like a mofo.

After I finished on the TM, I cleaned it off, like every good gym member should. Spray, paper towel wipedown, etc. By the time I finished cleaning it, I was standing in a puddle of sweat. I know, that is TMI.

Back at ya . Best wishes for your grammy.

((((Beaker and friends and their kids)))))

Good morning everyone.

Just popping out of my lurker mode to see if anyone near the Cincinnati area is interested in seeing an Indy Car race this weekend. I have 10 free tickets to the race, and my hotel is only about 10 minutes from where Ailarie and I stayed for the Flying Pig. Just send me a PM if you want to go and we can make the arrangements to get the tickets to you. Here is the info for the race.

http://www.indycar.com/schedule/index.php?event_id=32

I am traveling alone to this race, so if anyone does live near and wants to meet somewhere for dinner one night that would rock.

Ok...back to work. Lurkerdom on!

G'morning! Trying to kick my butt out the door into the humidity for 6M or so. Haven't been successful yet...Also never got my swim in yesterday, so I'm going to try for a double today.

Healing thoughts out to your grammie, Solar.

{{{Beaker's friend's baby}}}. My cousin had her first child over 2 months premature about 6 months ago. It was touch and go for a while but he's fine now. I'm sure your friend's will be fine too, but it's tough for everyone involved.

K, must...run....

LitchTim, I believe I left puddles on the road. It was tough, but it was a good mental challenge to keep myself going even while I realized in the midst of it I wasn't going to cover as much ground as I might have thought possible. I like that challenge when I realize the only responsible to keep my legs cranking along is me, it would have been super easy to say forget it, but sometimes you've got to push it. Thursday's run I can relax, today needed to be a bit hard.

Yes! It was...in that sorta, good golly, I hope this gets easier kinda way.

{{{{{Grammy Solar}}}}} My grandmothers have CHF too; like you said, they manage it well, until there is a problem.

{{{{{Lori's friend and baby}}}}} Scary stuff...but we can only trust in modern medicine and prayer. She'll pull through.

Got 4.25 miles in this morning in muggy 76 degrees along the creek. It wasn't so bad, I thought it would be worse.

Moe, what an awesome pic! Did you take that?

Looks like a hot one, I'll be the one cooling off in the pool today. Stay cool folks!

So what's the scale - is sweating like a mofo more or less sweat than sweating like 10 whole men? What about sweating like 5 mofos - where would that rank?

I wish today were Friday - I have a pocketful of $1 to deposit into the bank from our garage sale, and if it were Friday I'm sure I'd get sidetracked to a Bada Bing-esque establishment and deposit those bills right into the cleavage of some woman with a name like Kandi or Trixie or Cherry.

Another wicked hot day today. Supposed to be brutal all week - there's a 5k near my house on Sat that I'm having a bunch of friends over to run down and do the race, then head back to my house to have bagels and swap lies about our awesomeness. I even invited some people who are faster than me - I know I wouldn't win this race anyway so what's the difference if I have some faster friends ahead of me? If there were a shot at a W, I would NEVER tell anyone that I know is faster than me to the race! PhillyTom - that means I'd never invite you to a small race!

Radio - What brings you to the 'Nati? I have some friends going to that race but no interest for me. What time is the race - if you want info on that 5k, let me know...you can get your sweat on and then go drink your face off at the IndyCar race.

Jill, I didn't take the pic...it's just from the bungee jump co website. He went with his friends...I couldn't have even gotten out to the edge, nevermind jump! Evidently it's the highest bungee jump in NA. No freakin' way I'd be able to do it.

Hey all:

Tempo run planned for tonight. Should be brutacular! I'll wait until 8:30 or so, but I still think it will be bad tonight. I should probably leave the watch at home.

I'm flying solo for the next few nights, DW has the kiddos down the shore for a few days with family. You know what that means - party? NO! Paint the bathroom and run like crazy!

Solar - How many times do I have to tell you to leave me alone while I am running on the drive!! ) Thinking about your grandmom.

Lori - Thinking about your friend. That is scary stuff.

I'll check back later.

Good morning!

Am trying to wake up still. I went to bed at my usual time last night, though I woke up in the middle of the night and took a little longer than normal to fall back to sleep. Not quite insomnia, but not a fully restful night either. And then, of course, I actually had to wake up around 6-6:30 for the 1st time since last Thursday.

No running today, as it is my volunteer day. It is dangerously hot/humid here in the afternoons when I have time to run, so I think tomorrow and Thurs I will have to suck it up and run inside on the indoor track. Must remember to take my mp3/radio player. That's the only time I ever "need" to use it. When I run outside, I prefer to go without music.

Moe- your comment about becoming more comfortable with your body really caught my eye this a.m. I'm very much still in that process myself, especially given all the changes I've gone through in the past 3.5 years. That photo is great, but it gives ME vertigo. I don't think I could ever bungee jump. Or skydive.

Sara- nice avatar!

Solar- your story is just the sort of thing that would happen to me too. But hey, the wife should have been shooting death ray glares at him not you.

Beaker- I hope your friend and her baby both get stronger quickly so they can go home and be a family.

Solarpowered that's a great story. Very funny

Well this morning I boldly went where I had never gone before..... No this is not the Friday thread starting early Today I completed c25k w8d1. That's the furthest I have gone in the program. When I reached this day (w8d1) a few months ago my knee gave out completely at the beginning. The 28 minutes is the most I have jogged at one time with no walking- eva. No pain, no troubles, cardio was fine, not short of breath or anything. The only battles were the same mental ones- "I'm bored", "this isn't fun", etc. lol But I chugged onwards. OH I also decided to jog on the pavement and risk my knees jarring rather than further damage my shoes in the damp, dewy, cut grass of the park. There was less jarring than I remembered so that is encouraging. So a successful morning all around.

Saw Bourne Ultimatum last night. I could not remember a thing from the first two movies. I won't reveal anything and spoil the movie. It was non stop action and they did explain everything. I thought it was ok. Definately worth seeing if you like action movies.

I read an interview with Damon the other week where he said he prefers his character to James Bond. He said Bond is archaic, a total government sellout (MI5), sexist and jokes about and when he kills people. Whereas his character (now that he is no longer an assassin) rarely kills and is "fighting the man ala CIA". He has a point but I bet he would give anything were he chosen for a two or three movie deal to play 007. Just my opinion.

Well that's all I know so far this morning. Wishing you all a good one and I will return to lurking mode.
