Off to Reno today!! I have to get my runs in EARLY, b/c the forecast for the next 10 days is at about 100* each day!! WOW.

Fort Hose who have been so kind to e-mail, inquire on the thread, or even think of me over the last week or so -- NOPE, no word on the job. The interview went REALLY well, and the managing partner said he wanted to let me know by Wednesday of last week. Many people (including my pals here) are telling me to keep hope alive, but I think I'm out. If I'm wrong, great, but I think the letter is probably in the mail. We'll see. At any rate, thanks for the cheers, folks!

Looking forward to seeing my brother, and going for daily runs. Here in my life, it seems all too easy to skip a run, then another..... Bad ju-ju (sp?).

I will check in as often as possible while out-of-state (assuming I don't get burned alive in the desert sun).

Cheers!

Now that's early....

It's early here in Ireland, well 7:55 am anyway, it's not even past midnight on the west coast is it? It's still Monday I believe.....

Yeah, midnight just came and went... I am at work (of course). I need to wrap up a bunch of unfinished biz, and make sure I leave an organized office behind when I go on leave. Undoubtedly things will come up while I'm gone, and my paralegal will need to be able to come in here and find a case file.

Going on leave (of any kind) shouldn't actually create more work!

From Monday's thread

I wear compression shorts when I run so no undies for me. Actually I go with out quite often.

Vice grips. Seriously. I have used them before to get the lid off of Gatoraid bottles. They work great.

From Today's Thread

Have a good time in Reno. I hope your brother is doing better.

I hope you all have a wonderful Tuesday. I am off to bed.

Morning 30's, wish I could say I was up this early to run, but had to be into work to get a meeting room set up for an instructor I hired to come teach a class on "The Roles and Responsibilities a Supervisor has to Prevent Harassment in the Workplace"

I have taught this class myself a few times, but this group needs someone from the otuside to come tell them I am not full of sh!t when I say it is their arse on the line out there if they are not handling stuff properly.

Will try to run at lunch, just a couple miles is all I will have time for I think, but I have the 8K tomorrow so today would have been an easy day anyway.

GoV have a nice break away from work, and good vibes out to your brother!

Kini I am sure you are off to bed now, but good morning! or is i good night with your work schedule. Kini I have lost track, where are you in the c25K program, you are near the end right?

Morning!

still quite sore from the Tri. Here is one of the best things I've learned in the 2 years I've been running.

Maintain an even amount of perceived effort.

Not an even pace, but effort. I think that this applies to life as well. Sometimes things get inexplicably harder, and the temptation to feel frustrated with myself creeps in. However, maintaining equal effort at those times, instead of expecting equal results, is best.

I spoke with a friend last night who just had her second child and was unhappy that she could not "get as much done" as before. Yet, the amount of effort that she was putting in was huge. Just to get through the day with a newborn.

Good runs!

Morning!

Happy travels Gov! And, if the interview went well and you were recommended by people that already work there I would think you still have a pretty good chance; sometimes things really do go slower than intended.

I was supposed to run this morning, but went to bed late, couldn't force myself up especially since I have a few things yet to do this morning. Ugh. Will do that running after work thing I guess.

Am I racing the shortest distance tomorrow? I only have a 4-mile race. I know those doing Peachtree have a 10K (yikes) and Korbels has an 8K...

Hey guys

My quad seems all better! I guess I just needed to rest it (and aleve and stretch and some walking). So, I run tonight. I guess I better get my act together and actually start training for Philly, huh?

Beth, try a mouse pad. That's what we keep in the kitchen drawer to get lids off.

I wish I had a race to do tomw...but I don't think there is anything local. I could go to one 20 or so miles away with my friends, but I don't want to deal with traffic to get home. Which there would be. That's the sucky part about living in Boston at times...you need to leave before everyone starts getting here, or you get stuck.

Doc, did you post your times for your tri? I'm very impressed.

I'm feeling a little out of the loop lately. I can't keep up at night, and well, I just can't keep up. I'm not that funny when it comes to the suggestive stuff. Loser.

Trev, I think your avatar is creepy...and I don't think that of you, so you might wanna change it.

Maples, you're funny. I've said that before.

Have I mentioned that they a have dug up all the streets AND sidewalks around my house? It's like a freakin' disaster area. Plus they start working at 6:45 (even though technically they're not supposed to till 7).

Oh and some guy was arrested in my front lawn yesterday. I don't know why.

Gotta run.

Good morning!!!

So I read the thread from yesterday, saw that Coach T thinks he can pu tme down for the full in Philly and I threw up a little in my mouth (QUICK what movie?!). Um, yeah, I said I would look into it. I doubt I will be able to do a full!!

Moe maybe they left mac and cheese on you step and the law busted 'em!

Doc that post was exactly what I needed to read today. I think a lot of us needed to see that. Thanks for the insight!

GoV safe travels, and best to your brother!

So I did manage a bike ride yesterday, a little over an hour. I am freaking a bit about this weekend. YIKES!

Nettie I am doing a 4 miler tomorrow with Theia!! Good luck, I sort of have the same goal as you but am not going to push it since my tri is this weekend.

I think that is all for now. I am the only one in my building so far today, hoping to get my work done and get out!! Town carnival is tonight, beer garden and cotton candy, what more can I ask for?! ccasion5:

This, today, was just what I needed to hear, especially as you applied it to life.

I heart you Doc.
For serious.

running mid-day-ish. As far as I can stand and still get back to the office without people wondering if I'm only putting in a half day.

Good runs to all of you.

Continued good luck to you and your brother.

This gets printed out and posted on my wall at work. Very well stated.

And sorry about your Sabres getting decimated in free agency (even if my Rangers picked up Chris Drury from them.)

Glad it is feeling better, hope the local police activity is nothing to be concerned about.

30 minutes on the elliptical for me this AM. I hate the elliptical. I wanna run. I need to channel some of Scratch's Patience. At the chiro yesterday, had adjustments, electro-stim, and something called Graston massage. Graston consists of metal bars rubbed up and down my back (the theory is that the metal can detect adhesions and scar tissue more readily that human hands, because fingers are soft). When the bars hit tissue bumps and stuff (i.e. scar tissue), they are then pushed into the tissue to break it up. I was warned that I will end up with red skin (from increased blood flow) with bruising and black and blues.

As beaker would say - good times, good times.

Speedy vibes to all of the racers on the 4th.

Good morning. Rest day for the legs today, tomorrow is a 5K race. Also it was a big sleep night last night, in bed around 8:30 and I zonked out pretty quick.

There seems to be some good things happening in the elsewheres of life right now. I'm liking that. It's taken a whole lot of patience and I'm actually kinda happy looking at myself in the mirror today.

Tomorrow I want to see if I can push myself to the limits of myself in the 5K.

Hi everyone.

I was able to get in 6 miles on a great cool morning run.

Yesterday's QOD about July goals. Like Bob, June was my low mileage month. I am hoping to get back up to 100 miles or so. I would also like to get on track for the fall marathon training. Hearing about all the people coming to Philly certainly is motivation. And with Lori doing her first full, pretty exciting.

GoV- have fun in Reno.

Good day to all.

I hope Winter behaves today. She was so trying to get sweet, lil' ole innocent me into trouble last night. *sigh* I am so easily manipulated by women giving me attention. wink wink HAHAHAHA

Also, Lori, you can totally do a full marathon.
I did my first on 5 months of running experience - TOTAL.
You've trained consistently, trained hard, and are an intuitive runner, you set your mind to it, and you'll do the full and smile all the way to the finish line.

Hi Again - Still coming to terms with who's who on the thread so bear with me please. Lunch time for me, and a call home (benefit of being 5 minutes from the office), and the washing - See, a man's work is never done

Son will be home tonight and so I'm making a Texan Chilli with beef pieces, rather than ground beef. I bought some Jardine's Fixin's when I was last in Texas, so I'll try them tonight, and blow a few socks off. Sear the meat and then simmer gently away with tomato's and spices for an hour or so, then add some mesa to thicken it up - Serve with fresh bread and good beer.

All this will be after a 5 mile run, well, I'll run whilst it's simmering away - That will make this afternoon in the office seem bearable...

See y'all later

Liam
