This isn't fun anymore. Can someone please tell me when my sleep schedule will return to normal? My body still thinks I'm still in Asia, or it hates me. Four hours of sleep isn't going to cut it!

Been up since 4:30. At least it's light enough outside to get my run in now. Back in an hour or so.

Good morning.

This week is going to be a cutback week for me. It looks like I'm seeing an improvement in my pace though, first I noticed that with my heart rate down I reached a point in 13:45 that used to take me 15 minutes, and the conditions weren't favorable, muggy as all heck.

One thing that stinks right now is there's some sort of biting fly that has it in for me when I go out running. The last couple of times I'd all of a sudden feel a bit of sharp sting on the back of my neck and I'd have to reach up and smack something a bit large. Ugh.

Hey guys! Hello everyone to follow!

My ankle!!!! Argh! It started hurting while I was walking yesterday and this morning, I got a quarter of a mile before I couldn't run anymore. This so sucks. I hope it's just a sprain.

kp Well at least you're getting your run in nice and early.
scratch That bug would freak me out, I'd probably be afraid to go back.

Good morning!

I just got back from my run. I went to our golf course and ran one round there, which is somewhere between 2 and 2.5. Then I ran a 4 mile square out in the country. It was a beautiful morning. My thighs are sore though.

kp Hang in there. I'm sure your body will adjust back soon.

Scratch Maybe try somesort of bug spray?

Nettie Sorry to hear about your ankle. I hope it's not serious.

I just checked out what I actually ran at the golf course this morning. It was only 1.65. I thought it was more than that. Grrrrr...

Good morning, guys and gals. I didn't post yesterday evening, so let me first say a big congrats to the BigG for the job offer!

Looks like today isn't off to a good start. Jet lag, big bugs, bum ankles and mis-measured routes. Hang in there, folks. I hope somebody has some good news soon...

I went to the gym yesterday afternoon and got in a bit of east lifting. (Can I use east if it's not in refernce to running?). I was originally planning on hopping on the TM after lifting (because it was too hot and humid to run outside). But when it came time to start, I really just didn't feel like it, so I skipped it. Not really a good thing, but I won't beat myself up over it. I'll make sure I run today, no matter how darn hot it is. I might just have to keep it really short...

Happy Tuesday to all...

Hi everybody!

I agree, Bob, sounds like a bumpy, sleep-deprived, ankle aching, bug biting, packing-hating, shorted-on-running kind of morning so far. Hope everything gets better!

I'm off to work in a while, so that's my sad news of the day.

Myron, caught your RR last night - great race, considering the intense heat. Beth, fill us in on yours!

I posted this last night, but for those who don't go back to find out what I added late night......I met a woman this weekend who mentioned she was doing a tri; somehow she got around to suggesting I train for one coming up on September 2. Eek!

But Lori's tri was quite the inspiration, and everyone's doing it these days, so...I did a bike/run combo last night (30 min on stationary bike at hotel, 4 mile run). I'm not committing to nothing! quite yet.

Anyhow, will check back in later if my work schedule goes as I hope it does (plenty of slack time available!)

I'm right there with you Nettie! Got up and sooo didn't feel like running this morning. Training schedule said I needed to do 6. Got to work, went out and started, it was teh suck! Shins and achilles where burning....kept going, hit a big rock, ankle gave, fell on opposite knee and hands. I sat on the curb for a second until the pain in the ankle lessened then got up and limped back to the office. By the time I got inside it was feeling better but I could feel the twinges of pain. Showered and realized I forgot my bra and panties (thank goodness I always have extra sports bras!) So I'm wearing a sports bra under my top and commando under my skirt. I really just want to get in my car and go home!

Bah Humbug!

Thanks Norah my legs are actually feeling pretty fresh this morning. So I'm aching to get out tonight for a 5-6 miler probably at about 8PM. I wasn't able to get up for an early AM run because I was up late with DS who has a miserable summer cold... lets hope he doesn't share it

Beth ran really well despite the conditions, but I won't steal her thunder. Some might say it was like running in a sauna... I would say it was more like running in a pizza oven. At least it wasn't like running a blast furnace (I'm sure the people in the west 116 degree temps - can tell you what that feels like.

Well I'm off for a routine eye exam, and then to work. Have a good day all!

Morning kids -

Nettie - hope the ankle is no more than a tweak.

BigG - Do we get details??

Jess - You have been in a nice groove lately - do not worry about the mis-measurement.

kp - Ummm - no sympathy for long cool trip induced issues. Sorry

So me and Mrs Tim discussed fall races, and at this point, it looks like my key fall race will be the Ridgefield CT Half on Oct. 7th. This is pretty close to where I live, and usually has a pretty good turnout (around 500 runners or so). I will also be running a 10 M race on Sept 9th in Nyack, NY. Philly probably is not going to happen, because my family usually celebrates Thanksgiving the weekend before the actual holiday, which is the same weekend as Philly. If my family's plans change, I might alter things to make that happen. I may just come on down as a cheerleader if I end up gorging myself on turkey the day before.

Hey everybody.

I'm back!

I found the new place. Thanks to all who e-mailed me with the details of the move.

We had an amazing vacation at the beach. The weather could not have been any better. Here are a few shots of the trip.

Kids at the beach.

Baby at the beach.

I have tons more pictures but don't want to punish you all too much with my gratuitous kid photos.

I did end up running the dunes race. I'll get a race report for it posted sometime later today with pictures. It was brutally hard. Probably the hardest single run I've had. At one point the hills were so steep the only way up was on your hands and knees! Fun stuff.

I got some nice training runs in down there too, mostly 5-7 milers. One on the beach but mostly along the sound. It couldn't be any flatter down there.

The rest of the trip was spent at the beach, eating, shopping, playing mini-golf, getting ice cream etc. Just your typical family summer vacation. Loved every minute of it.

In other exciting news I got myself an iPhone. Anyone else get one? Pretty cool little gadget.

I'm sure I missed a ton of stuff over two weeks. Anyone care to fill me in on the highlights?

Anyhow I'm still not caught up on everything around the house. But I'm getting there. Gotta get the kids off to camp. I'll try to get back later.

I can't keep up with you chatty monkeys anymore! I think the ease of Kickrunners has unleashed the chatterboxes in all of you!

From yesterday a big heartfelt sympathy to Tim and his friend - I haven't had to deal with anything like that yet so I've been lucky. Big up to BigG on the J-O-B. Haven't read Myron's RR yet but it sounds like it was a good one.

Got in 9 miles before work this morning - I'm on a quest to run all of our work routes before the end of the month to achieve Qualified status so I can talk trash to my lunch running buddies. Only reason it's possible is because the San Fran marathon is in a few weeks and our "menu" includes a run of 26.2 or longer (off-site, of course!) So this morning we ran two of the shorter routes - I'm glad we got it in because it was already steamy at 6am and I've got a lunch mtg today, plus there's supposed to be rain later. Feels good to get 'er done - KP, you should take advantage of the jet lag while you can (plus being exhausted from additional training will help you get back on schedule!)

Have a good day all - I've got my first mtg already in 2 minutes!

Mornin' all. Didn't want to but I got up and did the home gym thingy this morning before work. I might walk 5k after work but it's storming here so I might have a rest day when it's all said and done.

I get off an hour early from work today so that's a bright spot before I even begin.

Good luck this week to everyone fighting insects and nagging injuries- neither of which are very fun.

Hello hello from Cape Cod!

Hoping for some Cape running today or tomorrow. Left ankle a bit dodgy, hard to remember what might have happened to it.

Can't wait for RR's from Myron and Beth. I will say that I heard someone died during Boilermaker. Traumatic stuff.

Glad everyone enjoyed my HR. There are Hash weekends coming up all over this summer. Must. Be. Realistic.

Did suaconRunner just type that she was going commando after a bad run? Sorry about the bad run, happy to hear about commando. I think it just makes the world a better place sometimes.

Ok, Good runs to all!

p.s. Winter? Victoria? Wedding report?

p.p.s. If anyone sees Maureen, I've sent her an email and a PM, but we're both on the Cape apparently!

Ann - stop it.

Myron what you and Beth experienced last night is why 1) I don't miss living in the Southeast and B) why there was no way in hell I tried running outside last week.

Appreciate the sympathy Tim. I know, I know, I don't need to complain.

Heather, uhm...remember it's only Tuesday

Five east in the books this morning. Not sure what the rest of the day holds. May spend the day in Holland, MI - Tonya is need of putting her feet in some water I think and Tuesday I believe is $5 growlers at the brewery there. May also try to swing by and pick up a new pair of shoes since I realized mine have almost 550 on 'em. Time to start rotating a new pair in the mix.

Ohbytheway, I found out yesterday that Maggie's baby shower will be the same weekend as that Wyoming marathon that I had been threatening to attempt. Not as though I'll be at the baby shower, but I might be needed to be a chauffer, etc. I was leaning against that marathon anyway, but I think this officially puts the kibosh on it. I think I'll survive without a full marathon until Philly... which I really oughtta get around to registering for...
