I stayed up a bit late watching the Rockies and Padres play. Interesting game.

Ended up doing 150 pull ups during the evening.

That's all I got for now. Maybe I'll have more later when the coffee starts taking hold.

G'morning Scratch, and everybody else. I did not stay up to watch the end of the ballgame, but it sure did look like an interesting finish. The Rockies have been really hot, so it'll be a tough series for the Phillies..

Had me a good run yesterday. 8.1 miles at an 8:08 pace. I'll take it. Short east run on tap for today.

Well, I don't have anything else to say either. Have a great day, folks...

Morning folks.

Got 2 miles in on the Tm yesterday with the 1/4 mile "run" test. Dunno if it was the return to "old faithful" shoe-style wise, the fact that I added a neoprene ankle brace, used thinner socks, was a little more used to the "pounding", or all/none of the above, but the ankle/foot actually felt pretty good for that 1/4 mile.

Iced it for 10 mins or so after as a precaution, but it feels fine today. Next attempt isn't until Thursday (yardwork tonight & yoga on Wed) but I am certainly looking forward to it.

Heroes - no spoilers of course, but last night sure gave some interesting surprises! Can't wait until next week!

Time to round up the hounds and head to work. Be safe, folks!

Mornin' Bob and Scratch!

Kris we haven't decided yet. Maybe something around December?

Katholeenie heh. she gets puppy dorks.

KP you're nice. Its kind of fun to watch the parents position you, reposition you, etc. Its a neat thing when the kids come too. They're cute about 'this is my chair...' I do have one kid who's flunking my class that I am afraid his folks are going to turn it into an entitled sort of "why can't he turn it in late..." issue.
I am not the one....

which reminds me....

Tonya I've been meaning to ask you forever....(well maybe a month or so) you like hard ciders, right? I don't usually, but I was in Betty's (short north bar/grille for big O people) and saw this pretty green bottle in the case (yeah, marketing works shoot me...) it turned out to be some kind of hard cider that was off the chain. loved it. don't know what it was....
'daddy...guess where I am...' just thought you should know that.

QOY I used to go to RPAC. Which was coolio. I need to join another gym. I'd rather join in columbus since the gyms there are better, but I know close to home is better for me with the long drive and dog to get home to. Also, there is one I can run to 3 miles each way. However, since my job neglected to tell me (and it isn't in the contract) that insurance for part timers is 500 bones a month instead of 85 (yeah....) Im waiting to see if we can get back on the old insurance first.

Morning everyone!

Well, no run this morning per doctor's orders. It was nice to sleep in (heh, till 6:45!) without feeling guilty that I was just being lazy..... I'm soaking the toe right now in betadine water. Fun o fun... If you missed it, here's a photo (don't worry, it's bandaged!)

Ingrown toenail removal. You can read last night's thread for more details! Don't want anyone to lose their breakfast (I seriously can't think about it without getting woozy.) I get to follow the soak/clean/bandage routine twice a day for 2 weeks till my followup appt. This is gonna put a crimp in the early morning running routine, because I barely have time to get ready after a run as it is...

Ailarie Congrats!!!! Woohoo!! You might want to experiment by taking away one of those items and seeing which one you can do without.. know what I mean? Good luck on Thurs.

Noni hope the week does not get any more horrific-er! Just think- it's Tuesday!!

Tonya- there is a student at my school (8th grader I think) who looks JUST LIKE YOU! She's at least 6 foot tall, same color hair, her face, etc.. it's so spooky every time I see her in the hallway! Are you sure that you're not just 13 going on 30?

OK, meeting the Thrashers' players tonight. Looking forward to it. I need to study up so I don't say anything stupid. 4 people have predicted that I will meet my future husband there! Might work that angle... (Just kidding! Sort of!)

Well, time to finish breakfast and get ready... happy Tuesday. Woot woot! (If you say it, you'll believe it, right??)

Hi folks!!!!! Beautiful morning here in the NE!

Got some bike time in yesteday, which was nice!!!! Tonight will be a swim I think and then my coach is giving a nutrition seminar at a local running store (Haddonfield, if you are interested Solar).

So the Phils schedule was announced. They screwed us, 3pm games!!! DH has to check logistics with his boss today. His team has 10 seats to each game and since he is the only Phils fan (yes, he works for a Phils affiliate but in Central NJ so they are all Mets fans) we should have no problem getting tickets. Just has to see if he can leave early to go!!! I am excited, should be quite an experience!!!

Beth Yikes!!! Hope the toe heals up quickly!!

Roo Woodchuck Cider is in a green bottle. Not the best cider out there but the only one I coud think of in a green bottle!

I really got nothing else right now. Maybe because I am frickin' freezing, my office and lab are ridiculous again today!!! WIll check back inlater for a QOD though!!!

I am gonna repost my beer menu from Saturaday night

Answering some of the questions from last night, pic was taken Sun AM during the last round of clean up, and yes, Diet Coke was available for those who cared for it, as well as reg Coke, Sprite, water, OJ, cranberry, etc. We had about 30 people over. I have about 2 cases of leftovers

Ran 4.7 this AM. Nice running weather.

QODY - I am lucky in that my company pays for a gym membership to NYSC. There is one in the same parking lot as my office, but I can use any of them, and I have used the one in Danbury, and the one in Nanuet, NY (near my Dad's).

good morning everyone!

I am exhausted. Another carpy night of sleep. Dang...I need to figure this out. Anywho....I did my 10 with 5 at 15K to HM pace last night...and it actually went pretty darn good. For my pace miles, my first (and worst) was 8:45 but I got down to the 8:20s...dead on. Rockin! It felt pretty darn good, which surprised me. Overall, I finished in 1:30:11. I have 14 scheduled for tonight after work. Slower of course

Beth - youch. That looks like it kills. Heal up girl!

Litch - yum Harpoon....I have only had the dark 2x in my life and I miss it terribly.

Scratch - your tales of working out always amaze me. I do not have that kind of motivation for strengthening exercises. Great job!

Bob - great run!!!

Stayed up way too late watching that baseball game. But boy what a game. Super exciting.

Ran 5 miles late last night when I got home from what was a fun day of golfing with my boys. Then followed it up with 5 more miles this morning at o'dark thirty.

DW is about to head out for the day/night.

I haven't watched Heroes yet. DVRed it and will get to it during the kid's afternoon nap time, I hope.

Moon - Glad you got the watch. Let me know how you like it!

Good morning!

Tried on 2 new brands of shoes last night and compared to my usual. The Nikes won't work at all, but the Sauconys had promise. The support around my arch and such felt the same as my Brooks but they were a lot cushier. It was enough of a difference that I didn't want to make the switch this close to Philly, so I'll be buying my usual Brooks. I may go back and get the Sauconys later though.

Morning Gang!

Fever broke this morning at 4:30! Woohoo!! I can think in straight lines again! Not that I thought in straight lines before but at least I'm not thinking through that stupid fog!

Happy Tuesday!

Winter and BigG - Here's the plan. You come and charm DH - that way you're HIS friends , then HE can introduce me to you. . .see? Make it HIS idea and we're gold!! Jedi Mind Trick at its best.

He and I are going to have to have a talk about rule 4 since technically that one was created for people at the places we were. Virtual friends were not an issue during the creation of the rules so obviously we need an amendment. I'm not giving y'all up. So there.

I have a relatively selfish question for the group - how do you maintain your independence in light of all your relationships? Not just SOs but also work, friends, family? And, is this something that you've always had or have learned to have or are learning?

Hey, all--

I had a ridiculously long post and I hit a weird button, so now I have to start over. Hopefully this means this won't be so ridiculously long

Got out for a fast (for me) 2.57 miles in 30:09. Apparently I've run 99.9 miles since I started logging in June. I seriously wish I would look at this stuff before I go out because I would have run the extra 0.1 mile. Sheesh! It felt good to push the speed though. I've been working on increasing time/distance and I was really slowing down as a result. I really enjoyed picking up the pace a little bit.

I've been missing stuff due to work and travel, but I hope everyone is doing well (yikes on the toe, Beth!). I'll try to get on more often this week.

Well, last week I said I was ruminating, and now I'm ready to share:

Short story: I'm going to Philly. Whether I'm running or not.
Longer story: I'm in a dissertation group that encourages goal-setting. When people meet goals, they're supposed to reward themselves. Well, last December I met a goal, and I never cashed in the reward (a trip to Prince Edward Island), so when it came up in the group that I never gave myself a reward, everyone encouraged me to do something. I decided to go to Philly since meeting all of you folks will be a very rewarding experience. I still don't know if I'm going to run the 8k or not because I need to get more of my mole excised and the only appointment they could get me is on November 13 which would make it very difficult for me to race on the 18th. If I can get another appointment (cross your fingers), then I will almost definitely run the 8k.

I hope no one minds that I'm going and that there's room for one more at all the pre- and post-race festivities. If you've reached max capacity, let me know. If not, does anyone have extra room?

Good running, walking, resting and working out to everyone today!

You were sick or was it "I drank too much fever"? I get the latter everytime I drink too much. Very odd indeed.

Yes, talk to him about rule #4. We rock...that is all

Hmmm...I dunno. I guess I just do.

Beth ouch!! I hope that toe of yours feels better soon!

Jill you didn't miss anything...that was the end of the show.

Quiet night last night. DH didn't get home until late so I didn't get to run. I'll try and get out tonight.
