Good morning. I hope everybody is well today. First off, still no baby. More and more people getting eliminated from the pool, eh?

Yesterday I had a nice hill run. 9.8 miles at a 9:12 pace, on a very hilly route. I'll take it. Today is an off day.

Fort hose who didn't it see it, last night I started a thread devoted to our Fantasy Philly Running game. Please check it out and play the game here.

Have a great day, everybody...

Yo....
quicky for me. Im taking the rest of the week off running (getting in some good walks with the pup) because I need to get better and get totally better. I'm just not a G like some of you all!
Just finishing this round of coffee and Orange Yogurt (hi scratch).
Morning Bob and Solar.
Kris E I thought your race pic was fine. Light as I am, when I run (or get embarassed etc) I turn not only pink but purple down to my chest. No matter how good of shape im in...I always look like I'm about to die. Sex-ay, I tell ya.
I didn't see any reaper following you so.....

OK. I know there is tons more, but I'm simple and I forget.
Peace and love today, folks!

Baby didn't sleep well last night after her needles. She seems better today. Not 100%, but better.

Voo it will be very nice to meet you in Philly! I'm really looking forward to this trip.

When you guys have met each other, did you find you called each other by your screen names? In some cases I'll have a hard time remembering what people's real names are!

QOD: I asked this the other day but it got lost in the shuffle. What's the oddest thing you've ever eaten? I don't think I've ever eaten anything odd. I thought calmari was odd when I first tried it years ago but now it seems common on a lot of pub menus.

Morning Solar and Bob and all who follow...

Just a quick post- no run this morning so I can attempt the LR again (11 mi) after work. After work? you say.. Won't it be too hot?? you worry? No! It's gonna only be in the low 70s! And low humidity with a breeze..... Perfect! At least a 10* drop from the past few weeks. I just hope I'm not too tired after work. It should be ok. We have midterms today, so I won't be really working super hard at school today at least.

TREV- I'm registered now for the HM. I don't have flights, yet, but I do have a hotel! LOL

Kini- sorry about the car messing up your vacation. FIGHT for that place to pay for the repair they caused!! Do we need to sick Gov or Trev on them??

Ok, seriously gotta go. Don't want to be late.

Back later.......

I didn't run this morning... They are taking us out for lunch at work... so it looks like an evening run for me. The good news is - it's even cooler today!!! Yesterday felt really good and it was probably 77 when I ran. Tonight it will probably be in the 60's Wooooot! Yay fall!

Maria I'm glad that you and your sister are back in the game. I know it must have been heart breaking for her to be so close and get pulled.

Hey all:

Bob - There's a reason I took the spot in the the pool... Good luck. I remember the anticipation and hope that things happen soon for you guys.

Frankie - I PM'd you, but in contrast to the advice that everyone else gave, I wouldn't race a week before a goal HM. If I was going to run it just as an event, I'd do it around long run pace. But I'm a wuss. (Compared to say, Pacer, who runs 5k PR with a pacing gig the next day. )

4 easy last night. Only very minor soreness in the leg. Continuing on the ez plan for now.

Catch ya later.

Hey kids!!!

So had lots on my TiVo to catch up on so I hit the TM last night, just walking, but with hills. Good workout. Then took little doggie dude out for a long walk. He is too funny, lots of my neighbors have those big blow up Halloween things in the yard, freaks him out!!! Tonight is tri class, swim and strength work!

Coach another list update. No running for me so add me to the cheering section, I will keep HH company!!!!

Voo and Moe are staying in the same hotel. Why do I feel another Hummer incident in the works?! SO thrilled you are coming Voo!!!

And really excited sis Jen might make it too! Can't wait to see her again!

What else?! I know there was more!! For now I will just say hi to the early birds, I will go check Bob's thread since I am going to be his admin assistant for the game, and check with you all later!!!

QOD: When I was younger Philly used to do a food festival on Market ST where a lot of interesting places were, lots of ethnic places. My dad would always go order stuff, make my brother and I try it, and tell us after what it was. Usually it wasn't anything too crazy but for a 10 year old, some of it was!!! Easiest way to get kids totry new thigns is to not tell them what it is!! But I don't think I ever had anything too out of the ordinary. I think escargot was the most exotic!!!

Morning, all--

Got out for 3 miles this morning. I've gotten a lot slower this week than previous weeks, even with the drop in temperature. Legs are just tired, I guess. I am happy to get the miles in and a couple of months ago, 3 miles seemed really far.

Have so much work today that I actually don't think I'll get it all done. One thing that does mean is no thread checking (or very little ) and no smack talking.

I hope everyone has excellent days!

Morning all. So I got out for 7 miles last night though it took a good 2.25 for my legs and hip to totally loosen up. After that it was smooth sailing Out this evening for another 7-8 with strides, maybe longer. I'm also figuring out a plan to run 20 on Saturday in Ft. Lauderdale (will be down there for a friend's wedding); I won't know my way around and it'll be wayyyy hot again. Me thinks some 5 mile in-and-outs or loops around the hotel might be my best bet.

Frankie - as for the races, what are your goals? If the HM is your goal race, don't do the 10K. If you want to get another race in as a boost to an easy-going HM, then do the 10K.

Belated CONGRATULATIONS out to Dom on the jobby job goodness.

QOD - I'll try just about anything at least once. Don't know if anything has been totally exotic - octopus or puffer fish was probably the closest. I did see lots of cooked-up guinea pigs while down in Peru last year though I couldn't bring myself to eat someone's pet

Thx for all of the anniv wishes - it was a non-celebratory day because of other stuff, so we will be celebrating on the weekend.

Still need to catch up on the end of yesterday's thread. 30 mins of core last night, 30 mins of elliptical this AM.

Narrowing it down to 5 is NOT easy.

Roo - we know you can take care of yourself, but we still worry. And the fishnets may bring back the whole hot for teacher thing from the other day.

QOD - chicken feet.

Good morning! I got up early to get my 5 in before DH leaves for another overnight trip. It started to dump buckets of rain on me half way through. Oh well, it was a good run anyway.

I've only met sauconrunner and kruss so far. I do call them by their first names. I think if you meet people slowly it's easier to remember their first names. You certainly won't be confusing my screen name and real name.

QOD: What's the oddest thing you've ever eaten? Pig's tongue.

Becca, you can come up to my area and run the Christmas City Classic with sauconRunner, kruss and I. It's December 8th.

Let's see here.

Was up at 4. Had some blackberry yogurt, Roo. Don't know what to do about the hosiery situation though.

I bought some new shoes last evening and will use them for their first miles this afternoon, plan on alternating them in on runs or something to get them eased in and will gradually retire the pair that has gotten me almost 275 miles now. The new pair is the same model as the old pair since this old pair have felt so good running in. The lady clerk at the store asked me if I might want to try anything else and I said right now I don't really see any reason. I just gave the ones she brought out a try on to make sure they'd feel about the same. They did except for being a bit stiffer. Someone with a more Fridayish attitude can work with that.

Prae, one thing to consider some point along the way is to give yourself a cutback kind of week for some recovery. A couple signs to keep a watch for that your legs and cardio system are getting tired is slowing down and the resting heart rate going up some. Keep an eye on that.

Maria so glad to hear you got your groove back! I knew it wouldn't be long! I hope your sis does come to Philly to join us, that'd be neat!

I remembered something else I wanted to ask you guys. Does anyone know of any online stores where you can order retired shoes? I'd like to get another pair of Saucony Myths.

Hi -

I've been lurking and thought I'd introduce myself, since I do like cookies, beer, running and I'm 30-something!

I'm fairly new to running - started with some 5k's last summer and worked my way up to a 10 mile (did the TC 10 last year because some friends convinced me to try it - I thought they were crazy, and that I would never be able to run for 90 minutes straight). Now I love it, and 10 miles doesn't seem crazy to me. Did the TC 10 mile again this year and was amazed that I could actually walk the next day, unlike last year. My favorite distance, so far, is the 10k. No plans for a marathon, but that's what I thought about the 10 mile too, so who knows.

Anyway, thought I'd pop in and say hi, since you all look like a fun group of people with similar interests!

morning

I did 5 last night with the dog and she made it the whole darn way. Very impressive. She has been super hyper this week with the cooler weather so that made a big difference .... she being a husky and all.

I am scheduled for 11 today but I couldn't get up out of bed for it. I was wanting the sleepy sleep too much. I have a haircut after work so i am unsure when I will work it in. Maybe, since I am technically in a recovery week and my 'long' run is only 14, maybe I'll flip today's and tomorrow's run. Dunno yet

QOD: I don't know. I haven't eaten a whole lot of really odd stuff. Chicken hearts? that isn't too weird I know. I ate a rose once.

Maria - woo hoo welcome back

I am starting to catch the office cold ...blah.
