Hi everyone. I did not get to read yesterdays post until really late so I decided to start Thursday's thread with my reply.

Beth - Glad to hear things went well for your dad.

Moe - They are going to start charging for C25k? that is ridiculous.

Jill - that was great. It pretty much sums up my childhood. I think children of the 80's sums us up nicely.

StartingOver - I agree with you on it being a little intimidating at first to post on a group that has people who run further then I drive to work each day. lol But one of the best things about the 30's is we celebrate each others successes, long runs, short runs, and anything else. My best distance to date is 3.1 miles. It took me almost 4 months to get there. I don't think I would have made it that far or still be running if it was not for the support of this group. Oh and congrats on the wonderful weight loss. Excellent!!!

Map - Yep I found the 30's the same way you did. count me as another living example.

Scratch - Well said about the journey of 1000 miles.

Moon - Congrats on you and your niece getting quoted.

HH - lol look for my posts. I do a pretty good summery according to the folks here. But McT's was a shorter more humorous version.

Litch/Mct - "Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father prepare to die. "

Oh Young Frankenstein is a great movie.

EQ and StartingOver - Thank you both for taking the time to answer the questionnaire.

DrChris - Good to see you back on the boards. Glad you are almost recovered.

Have a great day everyone.

Hello, folks. Wow, is it really only Thursday? What a slow week!

I had a great run yesterday. I did 7.5 miles at an 8:04 pace. I hadn't intended to run that fast, but I ran with a neighbor of mine, for whom that pace is nothing. I do the vast majority of my runs alone, and I think it'd be a good idea for me to run with this guy more often since he is faster than me...

I posted about this yesterday, but I didn't see any response... I've been out of the loop a lot, so maybe you guys have talked about this and I've just missed it. A while back, I got a flier in the mail for The Niantic Bay Half Marathon. It's on Sep 30 in Rocky Neck State Park in Easy Lyme. Are any of you CT people (T-Rev, Litchfield...) aware of this race? Anybody interested?

That's it for now. Have a great day, all...

Good morning!

Quick post before I go to work. I went to the gym after work so I get get in my short run and maybe some work on cardio machines, and realized when I got to the locker room that I'd forgotten my running shoes at home. Doh! So, no run yesterday after all. No run today either, as I'm going out to dinner with a friend. So, my next run will be my race on Sat. I think I'm ready...

Morning,

I tried. I really did. But I just couldn't drag myself out of bed to run this am. It's because I got to bed a little late last night. That's why I hate taking naps like that after work. It ruined the whole reason of coming home without going to the gym (planned). I wasted most of the evening! OH well. The plan was to run this morning, then legs at the gym and spin class with my friend. I haven't decided if I want to do spin and wts, run and wts, or all 3. It will depend on how my leg feels later, I guess.

Anyway, I should probably finish getting ready for work! Bob- I'm with you! How can it be only Thurs?? Yesterday was super slow, in fact.

Have a great one.

Hey gang. I'm back!

We had a wonderful time in Maine. It was one of those trips where you really just don't want to come home from. Alas, it's back to reality. Well sort of. DW is taking today and tomorrow off so we're still in vacation mode. We're hanging out today and then taking the kids to Dutch Wonderland (a small kid's amusement park tomorrow.)

The weather was perfect the entire time. Daytime in the 70s and night time in the 40s. Great sleeping weather.

I got it a few good runs while we were there including a killer hill workout.

We spent time fishing, swimming, kayaking, hiking, canoing, eating lobster, having fires, cooking out and more. I ate way too much!

There's no way I can possibly catch up on all the threads from the time I was gone. I hope I didn't miss anything of major league importance.

Here are a few shots from the trip.

Welcome Back LL!

Woot! Dutch Wonderland in Lancaster! I've been there many times as a kid. I used to always ask my parents to take me to Hershey Park, but we'd end up at Dutch Wonderland because it was closer, and probably cheaper. Looking back, it was also had more rides for kids my age/height then.

Funny cause we had the choices narrowed down to either Hershey Park or Dutch Wonderland. We went online and compared the two and DW and I felt Dutch Wonderland would be better for the kids based on their ages.

Thursday mornings kill me. I slept nearly the entire way down to Philly and I'm still pooped. Ugh. Ran a nice east 5 miles last eve and followed up with a most needed yoga class. We did tons of hip openers, which hurt like a sona va bitch then but feel pretty darn sweet now. Tonight is some more easy miles ...probably 8-10 w/strides.

Welcome home LLlobsterBerg ...you didn't mention it but I'm guessing/hoping you were able to enjoy some good stuff while in Maine. And the pictures look GREAT ...nice to have you back.

Nice runs last eve, EQ & boB! I'm looking forward to clocking some better speed workouts myself once the weather decides to chill a bit and stay there. Intervals and humidity + me are not a winning combination.

Jill - I was confused reading your question last night re: which side of the path to run on. I'm normally as far right as I can get whenever on a path, road, trail, etc. If I'm going to pass anyone, I'll try to do it on the left. HTH!

But of course!

Although we had mostly soft shells which make for a watery mess.

But there's nothing like sitting on the dock eating a lobster while the boats are pulling in.

A view from one of the lobster pounds. Right from our table. Can't get much closer than this.

Larry, did you go to McDonald's while up in Maine and get the McLobster? Every eating place in Maine is required to serve lobster, I think.

I ran a super slow recovery jog this morning, I challenged myself to see how slow I could run, over 14 minutes per mile, it felt weird almost.

Still waiting on the sun to make a comeback around here.

Hello all

I wish I could send the rain from Southern MN south to Timr and Flem, and maybe some to north/central in MN as they are still dry!
I got up to walk my 2 miles today and it's a downpour, I can handle running in the rain, in fact I enjoy it, but walking, in the morning, in the rain, was way more than I could handle this day.

But my day just changed>>>>
My supervisor just called me, we are hiring another staff person in my division and I was referred to in one of the cover letters/applicants, as giving great informal supervison by a former intern.

Busy busy day today, so I may check in later, but most likely not!

Good days to all!
Morning peeps,

I haven't run. I may not run. If i do it will be 4-5 miles on the Dreadmill tonight. I'm bringing my mommy porsche/minivan in for an oil change and service for my rescheduled trip to Toronto. Then bringing DS#1 to get new glasses again. ARGH! This will be the third pair in a year and a half. I'm thinking of just duck taping the lenses to his face...

Here we go:

Hey all:

Welcome back Larry! The pictures are great. Are you shooting those from your iphone?

PC - 50k? Hmm... let me check my calendar. Uhhh... I'll get back to you. Maybe we could spread it over 10 days? Sort of a multi-stage 'Tour-de-Ohio'? Now we're talking.

Got out for a nice run with the running store group last night. I hooked up with a guy I haven't run with before who is the XC coach for one of the local HS. Nice guy, fast too - we did about 7 at low 6 pace. Turns out he lives close too, so hopefully we can catch up more often.

Tonight - ez. I am trying to cut the miles a bit this week and clear up some soreness, but I have a feeling it will just be up to the taper and then take some time off after the race. We'll see.

Maria - my only fear with falling asleep on Amtrak is that I wake up in DC. I've never done it on there, but I've done it on septa (regional rail). I ended up running home ~6 miles one night in work clothes b/c I slept through my station, had no money for a cab, and DW was out of town. :<

Myron - did you grow up around here or just visit a lot as a kid?

Jill - I'm with Maria, I run like I drive (like a crazy a**hole??) on the right

Morning Gang!

Welcome back LL - did DD2 get a hair cut? Very cute bob on her! And, as always from you - great pics!

Yep. It's Thursday. The guy in charge of painting the house called last night and said, "It's too humid, we'll try again on Monday." Ooookaaaay. . . So, we'll see when that ever happens.

Posted last night - great brick workout. Had a hard time getting my legs comfortable last night though - anyone else ever have their legs just kinda there when they're trying to get to sleep? What do you do for that?

Hugs to those who are needing today!

I've only come close to sleeping through 30th St. Sta. once. I woke up and the train was stopped in the station and everyone who was getting off, was already off. I FREAKED. Put my shoes on, grabbed my bag and booked off the train. Ever since then I do a wake-up check somewhere south of Trenton. Also I made buddies with the conductor
