Now seems like as good a time as any to get the thread started.

Good vibes out to all of those in Minn. Hope everything works out with that bridge collapse. It made the news here in India.

OK, quick post for me, lunch is about to be served.

Back later.
Howdy. Scary pictures out of Minnesota and the bridge collapse. I think all of our 30's have checked in?

Ran 3.1 this morning. The humidity is really badass right now. By the end, I was glad to be done just from how uncomfortable it felt. I hope some cool Canadian air decides to migrate down south sometime soon.

Morning Everyone-

Excuse me if I'm way off topic here--feel free to skip.

It's a little surreal here today. It reminds me a bit of after 911--I can't stay away from the TV; I'm concerned about students and other staff/colleagues who I know that live in that area and have the sudden need to check in with people I haven't heard from in a long time. I also feel the need to be secure today and around people I know and trust.

Everyone I know personally is OK, with one very close call and another friend acting as a trauma ER nurse. They are both pretty shaken up.

My best friend from HS went to get her husband from work; he usually takes the bus, but was working late. Normally, she would take 35W into downtown. She didn't yesterday because of the construction on it, thank goodness. Between the time she left home and got to him, the bridge had collapsed, but she didn't know it. He, on the other hand, was watching TV. She wasn't answering her cell phone--it was turned off--so for about a full 20 minutes he had no idea where she was.

She pulled up to the parking lot and he was close to tears and frantic. By that time, she could hear rescue crews as well. They went down to the river immediately to see if they could help as he used to be an EMT and she was a life guard for many years. She didn't say what they did or saw, except that it was "horrific".

Thank God she took another route. Getting her email last night made the hair on my neck stand up and so grateful that she had the last minute guidance or smarts to go another way.

I'm proud of Minnesotans today for their quick and courageous response and feel truly sad for families affected by this. May they find even a little bit of comfort today...

I'm out for a run in a bit...I'm running for 6, but as I'm tired (watched TV late into the night), we will just see.

Morning all! Hi Tim, Kini and Scratch!!!
Got in around 2.5 with the pup. Apparently, he enjoys an early morning run as much as his girl. Got home, fixed coffee, fed Hank McCoy the dog (as he's known around the Smith and Dunham home) and he finished his food and ran around my living and dining rooms as fast as he could. Again. My house ain't so big an 80# pup should be doing Indy laps....

In the adviser file... I told him yesterday via email that it would be ok to meet bi weekly (his idea) but that I needed to talk over phone as I can be running in and out of there (hour commute each way). This is me using what little agency I can muster. He said, 'fine. let's do video conferencing' uh...sure. lemme run out and buy that equipment, asshat. Now. Is it me or is he just insane???

Minn. folks. Hope all your people are ok. That is horrible. I still haven't heard from Sage. Anyone, anyone???

scratch the humidity here was evil, too. the kind where you get drops of water in your hair and on your eyelashes and stuff...gah.

doc apparently, confession is good for the soul. xo

Moon want me to adopt you so you can say you've got family in jail? helps with getting called for jury duty....

Kini I had to cancel my credit card this weekend too, cuz someone jacked my #. weird. btw, how's that going?

Heather I can't keep up either, but how you doin??

Ok. I gotta get some work done before I go to get some summer job hours in.

peace, love and chicken grease....

Good morning, folks. Quick fly-by for me as I'm about to head to a meeting. I'll catch up on the end-of-day news from yesterday in a little while.

Yeah, I hope none of our Minnesota peeps were near that bridge. Scary stuff.

I got in a hot and sweaty 5 miles last night at a bit over a 9:00 pace. I felt like I was taking it quite slow, so I'm surprised that I was as fast as I was. Thankfully today is a day off, so at least for one day I won't have to fight the heat.

Stay cool, everyone...

1st off....hope all our 30's from MN checked. Caught some footage on TV last night. Wow!

2.3 mile walk and then a swim - all at the state park. You know, even though it was 90+ and humid the lake (glacier) was a bit cold. Felt good as long as I kept moving!

Running sometime today and then going out of town for work.

Hope all is well w/ everyone and if it isn't that you're on the up-swing!

Morning, all!

First, Crane, it is great to hear that you and all your people are ok. I understand the feelings you described. That's how I felt during 9/11; having worked in NYC, I was desperate to know everyone I knew was ok...

I got out for 6 miles this morning. Even then the humidity is yucky and I am finding myself not enjoying my runs as much... I was glad to be done by the end, too, Scratch.

Enjoy your lunch, Tim, and your sleep, Kini! Enjoy your trip, McT, and great haircut, Nettie. How are the shoulders this morning, Doc and Beaker? And hope your recovery is going well, Kj. Welcome back to the group, jkk! Get well vibes to Diane and to BigG's dd. Nice to see ya yesterday, Katholeenie and Heather!

Hey folks.

First off, my thoughts and prayers to everyone in Minn. I honestly can't even watch the footage and Crane's personal take on it has almost brought me to tears, it is just too disturbing but I will keep up the prayers.

Got a great ride in yesterday along with some tough core work. Tonight will be more bike time and a run. After PT of course, which I hope will be much better than Tues session! Then home to pack for the weekend getaway to NC! I can't wait!!!

Heather my dear I think lots of feel lost in the shuffle sometimes around here but I will never lose ya, you get private love from me

Diane I sympathize with teeth issue. I do believe I am singlehandedly putting my dentist's kid through college! Feel better!

KJ how are you?

I give you all credit for toughing out these hot and humid runs, you guys are inspirational! Just be careful, got it?

Nettie you are such a cutie!!! Great pic yesterday!

Mandaroo.....Odin gets the rips, too. We have a hardwood floor in the dining room w/ a large rug under the table....Odin rips through there and the rug and table move across the floor.

Solar....kudos for getting out this morning and runnign 6. I was up at 5:30 and opted for laundry instead of running. Know I'll regret it later b/c it's supposed to be another hot and humid day here.

Good morning all

Sitting here cooling off from my first ride on the road bike. I was pressed for time and only got 6 miles in but it felt good. Little nerve racking as its still dark here. Have a bright headlight and taillight but you just never know if someone without their morning Starbucks in them yet is going to see me.

I was relieved last night to know that our MN peeps are ok. Its amazing what this group does to you. While I have never met any of our MN folks, my heart rate went up and I imediately checked here to see if everyone was ok.

Crane im with Beaker, I got a bit emotional reading your take on it. It does remind me of 9/11 as I have family and friends who live/work in NYC and I was worried about all of them until I knew they were ok.

Thats about if for now, gonna hit the shower then get the kiddos up and out the door, Ill check back for a QOD

Has anyone heard from Sage? Crane, I know you were trying to call/email. If not her, do you have her wife's contact info?

My tooth hurts still and kept me up half the night. Also, it seems like Vicodin on an empty stomach makes me nauseous. But you know what, I absolutely have to get to the gym today, even if for only 10 minutes. I haven't even stepped foot in there since Sunday. But again, I do appreciate all the good vibes and I hope my mouth listens to them and fast!

Later, taters. Must attend to work things and also find something to eat.

There's supposed to be a log coming here, not yet though.

I've migrated my logging over to Runningahead.com. It doesn't bother me using two sites because of the awesomeness of tabbed browsing with Firefox or Opera.

Scary stuff about that bridge. As a child, I had a fear of bridges. Not really a phobia, but I had a huge fear of falling and I was afraid of just this sort of thing. In addition to our own MN peeps, I know 2 other people in the TC area. MJ and Mark were part of my running group here and my church as well. They moved a few months ago when Mark was transferred. A bunch of people in our group are running the TC marathon in fact, in order to go visit them. So I'm hoping they are both well. I will assume so unless I hear otherwise.

Didn't get my run in yesterday after all. I ended up volunteering to work evening duty for a coworker, and it was so hot that my coach canceled the speed workout. I had things to do anyway to prepare for my weekend at the lakehouse. I'm driving there tonight, woot! So, after today, you won't hear from me again until Monday as we have no internet connection there.

Moring... Gosh on the first page and everything!!

No run this am, but I'll make a trek to the Y this afternoon for a few miles. Then, joy of joys, I have a student orientation beginning at 6pm.

Glad to know our MN folks are doing well.

Good morning everyone. Well, I did it, I pushed past the 3 mile mark and ran 3.4 miles ... 36 minutes including the stops to take a photo or two, get a drink at the fountain, and walk up the hill at the end. It felt great, although my legs were so heavy at the end. Thanks for the encouragement folks!

I'm glad to hear that the MN people are okay. Craziness!

Speaking of haircuts, it really must be haircut week, I got mine cut yesterday too.
