Hey there.

Just got back from a short and easy run, which was actually a decent pace for me compared to the past, in spite of the legs just feeling kind of dead under me. Lot less humidity though, that was nice.

Although they aren't all running miles, as at first I mixed some running in with walking, my running workouts are now up to 99.5 miles this year. I should cross 100 miles on Saturday morning. That'll feel pretty cool.

Good luck, good runs to all.

Gooood Morning Friends ....

Out only for a dog walk this morning, lordy it was humid. I can't imagine trying to run in that... "they" say it's going to get less humid today, so I'ma hope for that and try and run outside today. Yay!

I can't wait to try Sage's popcorn, that sounds so good. I have a short day today, because it's take puppy to the vet day. Once I figure out how to do it, I'll try to post a picture of the wee beastie fort hose that haven't seen him.

No QOD from me... great days and runs to all.

Good morning~

Not sure if I'll get the chance to get on later so thought I'd jump in really quick before I go to work. No run yesterday or today (supposed to run both days) because I'm helping out a friend.

Moonie, that photo of you with dreads from last night was hilarious! Thanks for the smile this a.m.

Late last night, I got the bad news that I've been expecting. My uncle lost his battle with cancer and died a little before 11pm. It's a sad occasion, but he was on some serious pain meds at the end, so I am glad he is no longer suffering. I already had out of town plans this weekend, and I expect the funeral to be early next week (though details aren't yet set) so if I'm not around much for the next several days, that's the reason why.

Good morning, folks...

Bard, sorry about the loss of your uncle...

I saw it commented yesterday that some people find it hard to believe how some other people can post so often... Add me to that group. I already feel that I spend too much time reading/posting and not enough time doing work during the workday. I don't know some of you can post 40 or 50 times a day and still remain employed...

I had wanted to run yesterday, but circumstances intervened. There was a thunderstorm outside, and the power went out at my gym as I was loosening up for the TM. Oh well. In retrospect, this might not be a bad thing. My legs have been a little creaky lately, so another day off might help. Marathon training starts again soon, so getting my rest is probably wise...

Well, I hope everyone has a good Thursday. I hope I can keep up with y'all today...

{{{Bard}}}} So sorry about your loss.

Maria - that baby Potter is adorable!!!

Moon - that "moondoo" or "voomoon" blend was strangely appealing...

Scratch - at the rate you're going, with all that injury downtime, you're going to surpass my mileage for the year. (Not that that's difficult) but congrats on the century mark!

Bob - ditto on the posting. I haven't ever been able to keep up with all the conversations on this board...I have to either type faster or work less. Hmmmm....

Jen - what's this "Sage's popcorn"? I read the popcorn discussion, did I miss a recipe?

So, no running today, it's a travel day. Yay! I'm headed home. And on an early flight, so I don't have to work all day. Double Yay!

Have a good day all!

Will be offline a good part of the day, so can we keep the thread to less than 300 posts please?

Much nicer here in the NorthEast today - the humidity has broken. And I got in 5 miles this AM, longest since my last HM and subsequent back issues.

Weather seems to have turned around a bit after last night's rainfest - if I hadn't had to travel to Philly today I would have got my run in this morning. Gorgeous out there. Alas, I'll be getting 12 miles in tonight and keeping my fingers crossed that the nice stuff sticks around.

Kini - Forgot to pass on congrats to your sister and to being an aunt again.

Great job Scratch ...your the comeback kid!

Kris, I'm so sorry for your loss - you & your family will be in my thoughts.

Hey ladies!!!! And all who follow...

So finally got my butt to the gym last night and hit the bike for an hour, was going to hit the road but the storms were awful last night. SO bad that a lightening strike hit a refinery in my town and sparked a huge fire! My BIL lives on a street that boarders the refinery so Is pent some time trying to track him down and see if they were ok! Oh and did a killer core workout, someone posted some good ideas inthe Training forum, yikes!

SO went to get another cycling jersey and left without it cause the salesman was all attitude! I asked if any company made longer ones and he told me with an attittude that they are only meant to hit the top of your shorts. I informed him that when you are 5'10" that means something differnet. Then i looked at some tri wear and he appeared out of nowehre to inform me that stuff was for triathlons and gave me a once over. I told him I knew, and that is what I wanted it for, his reply "Um, oh". Just rubbed me the wrong way.

Maria is evil, that popcorn is addictive!!!

Moon that picture last night was ridiculous, you are so funny!!!

Dankinia be proud of those fabulous runners legs!!!

Praecipua hope today is a better day for you!!!

Will check back for a QOD!!! Happy days to all!!

Sage's popcorn from last nights thread - buncha popcorn, 2 tbsp butter, melted, add 1/4 tsp new mexico chile pepper and cayenne pepper, sprinkle spirulina over top. (Sage - correct me if I got the measurements wrong!)

Bard I am so sorry for your loss, just because you expected it doesn't make it any easier. I am actually in the same boat as you right now, situation is so similar but it isn't cancer related. I just don't like this waiting! But all my prayers go out to you and your family!

morning everyone

No running yet today. My alarm went off at 415 for a 15 miler and I said to myself - "ummm, I'll do it after work". My tummy's rumbling made the decision even easier. I had the weirdest non 30s dream. Something about aliens. Very V-like if you will. not fun.

Kris - sorry for your loss. ((hug))

SINCE we are posting pictures of the pups. I will follow suit. This is a picture from her first night with us. She was 20# under weight and smelled something nasty. She is much fatter now...but doesn't smell a whole lot better after the dog park last night

torchlight - oh my, it'll be warm - 92 they are saying. Ick. Might need to add a minute to the estimated time for the run. So, meeting on the East stairs of the church at what time peeps?

white bear 20 miler - who is in?

Bard73 (Kris) I am sorry to hear about your loss of your uncle. I lost 2 uncles last year. It was hard for me as I watched both parents lose their only brother. Of course I missed them as well. I will keep you and your family in my prayers this week.

Kris, condolences about your uncle. It's tough when that happens.

It's weird how I'm feeling a bit excited about how I'll have put 100 miles on the newly rebuilt bone down in my left tibia. Probably at some point today I'll end up taking a bit of time looking at projected weekly miles to see how many I'll end up with roughly for when the year comes to an end. I'm also considering celebrating the crossing over into triple digits by sitting down at the computer and putting my entry in for the HM in Philly.

There's enough confidence in the ankle now for that, enough confidence in the training plan I thought over while my leg was healing. Obviously you can't guarantee anything for absolute, but I think the HM is a reasonable projection based upon the progress made.

Morning!
Shazam, it was BEEYOOTIFOOL out there this morning! Probably in the 60 degree range, almost cool, low humidity...gorgeous. I did the stadium steps workout with some 800's thrown in for good measure. I'm having a big mileage week this week and yet it's still nowhere near the kind of miles that Baggs & Trev rack up, and I'm freakin' exhausted! Don't know how they do it. I might get out for another 5 miles at lunch if the weather stays cool and I don't get too tight.

Bard - sorry for your loss. Sucks to hear it - hope your family is doing well and realize your uncle is off to a better place.

Posted last night my bib # for San Fran - #101. Kinda like the elite athletes or the ones designated as pacers. I'm thinking if the weather is good and I feel fine, I might see if I can just pace the entire way for the 3:00 group instead of doing the first half with the 3 hour group and the 2nd half finish up with the 3:10 group. I don't like the idea of splitting off from my group - I need to know how they end up doing.

i waited until today to respond to the gay issue from yesterday. i wanted to make sure that i wasn't too reactive when i posted. i'm not going to belabor it.

maples, you've joined a posting group that has gay members. you'll either learn to reconcile that, or you won't. that doesn't require any action on the part of any other member of this group. my bisexuality is no more your business than your heterosexuality is mine. we are thirty-something. mostly. we run. we chat. my political stance, my sexual orientation, and your opinions are all irrelevant. we are both welcome here.

however.

your direct criticism of winter's posting photos of her family was unfair. it was every bit as appropriate for her to share those pics as it is for larry to post pics of his kids, bob of the sweet lil bobling, mareeeeea and voodoo of nieces and nephews, and the rest of us of vacations, running routes, shoes, pets, and strap-ons. we all have lives beyond running, beyond what we see of each other here. and we all have friends here. we share. that is the nature of a public forum.

you may not like the idea that what you've done is an act of intolerance, but it is. this place is for all of us. it's an environment in which we all must feel comfortable sharing. your expressing your intolerance for the lifestyle of someone else in an attempt to guide the posting content of this thread isn't something that's okay. the gays are here, maples. we're not going anywhere. you are who you are and you are welcome to your opinion. i won't try to change your mind. but please check acts of intolerance at the door.

*******

kris, i'm so sorry about your uncle.

running-related: small runs here and there. but keeping the details straight of the business of the rest of my life is driving me a bit mad. not that i need help with that.

i'll try to catch up soon on all your goings-on. craney, darlin, it's nice to see you again. it seems like a long time, chica.

happy trails today, peeps.
