YES! I am taking the job! I need to negotiate a couple of things but I'm definitely accepting. *gulp*

Now I just have to give my notice.

Heater, I think you're my good luck charm. You were there the night I was first contacted about an interview, and you were the first one I told in person yesterday. (Poor thing had no idea what I was babbling when i got out of the car shaking and late. ) So thanks!

(PS you looked terrific...hard work is paying off, my friend. And I haven't tried the porter yet...tomw night.)

So, I guess I need to be Chief Fact Checker and VP of Research for the mag...just let me know when I have to check some facts.

Good morning Moe, Big G, and all who shall follow.

Rest night last night for me. Will be heading back to the TM for my might 2.0 run miles this afternoon!

I have a 5k event to do on Saturday. Not that I guess I'll be able to run half of it, but it'll be interesting to see how I do on a non treadmill environment. However, GA is having a bit of a cool streak. The lows on Saturday are around 48. Brrrr! (Yeah, you northern folks can snicker.. that's COLD by my standards.) I may need to break out the running tights!

Moe - WOOHOO! Grats on the new job, woman! We're all so excited for you!

Qod: The Exorcist (original). Saw it once when I was 18, and I will never voluntarily see that movie again. What's weird, is I love the movie "The exorcism of Emily Rose", but the original exorcist movie just freaked me out too much!

Time to find some grub. Be back later!

Busy day planned today. Hoping to do a leg workout this morning and pilates afterwards. Then I am having a tour of the theatre we are having our speaker use. I am excited, because it is so beautiful and I cannot wait to see the parts I haven't seen yet.
I'm hoping to hop on the treadmill tonight. It's still raining.

Good morning, folks. Ack, I'm on vacation, why am I awake already? Oh yeah... screaming baby...

Once again, congrats Moe! I hope you love this job.

QOD: This will sound stupid. I saw Kingdom Of The Spiders on TV when I was probably 7 or 8. (It starred William Shatner and came out in 1977). It's about a town that gets overrun by tarantulas. It scared the bejeesus out of me, and for weeks I thought I saw spiders coming out of everywhere.

Then one time in the mid 90s I was flipping around the channels and I came across the movie again, (probably on SciFi channel or something). It was soooooooo bad. For years, all I remembered was that it scared me when I was a kid. But then I was embarassed to see it again. Heh.

Good morning!

Thought I'd get in a quick post before I head off to work. I did get in about 30 min of running yesterday on the indoor track. Didn't count laps, just went by time. Less than 3 miles though, going too slow to have hit that mile mark. Just listened to NPR and ran. I was really tired by the time I left the office at 6 and was tempted to not run, but made myself do it and I'm glad I did.

2oh and boB- lovin' your avatars and new daddy stories!

Moon- so how long are you likely to be overseas? And would that prevent you from wasting time with us? BTW, I think all would be interesting places to visit.

Moe- Congratulations again. I'm so thrilled for you!

Roo- hope this diss stuff finally gets resolved. If you end up on campus to meet with St. Mollie, let me know. My schedule is kinda crazy right now, but I might be able to swing meeting up for coffee or something.

QOD- it was a movie called DefCon 5. Saw it when I was 12 and really nervous about the whole nuclear power/nuclear war thing (i.e. I knew enough to know that if things went wrong, it would be really bad, but not enough to realize how small the odds were of it actually happening). Anyway, the gist is that a couple of astronauts are up in space and a nuclear holocaust happens on earth. Eventually they run out of supplies and have to return to earth and society has completely unraveled. I stopped watching when they were about to be attacked by some men and never went back to watch it.

ETA: just went to IMDb.com to see if I had correctly remembered the plot and there was no summary for the movie. Probably was a really bad movie that nobody ever bothered to watch again. When I was watching it, it was at a extended family reunion/Tgiving dinner, and my mom's cousins had rented it.

Morning Gang.

Hi Solar!! Thanks - I'm so excited about the trip!!! I got an email from one of the professors last night - apparently the two of them (who do both know me socially) have appointed me social director for the trip. I asked what my budget is. Actually it really should be a fabulous experience.

Maureen - I'm so proud of you. Congratulations again!!

I'm hoping to hear some good news for DH's job today, so if y'all have a little time and some free positive vibes and wouldn't mind sending them our way, I would truly appreciate it. Thanks.

QOD - Watcher in the Woods. Saw it in elementary school. Although like BigG, Nightmare was another great one. . .

I hope everyone has a lovely, lovely morning!

Morning all! No workout last night as expected. Babysitting the crazy kiddos and explaining how Tom & Jerry was one of my regular 'toons as a kid instead. Tonight will be much of the same however I should have time to get a short run in before I watch the kids. The days off have felt good on my hamstring; I hope they did the trick!

((((McT's DH/jobby job))))

Welcome Sooze!

QOD - Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds (still don't trust those flying freaks) and most terrifying of all, Piranha. The movie is about piranhas being accidently released into a summer's resort's rivers. Now growing up we spent a lot of time swimming, both in pools and in a lake on some property our family owns. The thought that piranhas may have also infiltrated those bodies of water BLEW MY MIND and caused such a panic. It took me some time (and many talks with the parental units) to convince me this was not a possibility.

Good morning. I'm all right enough. Plan on a run this afternoon after work.

I was a bit sad to see this morning when I checked a useful local races site that a 5K I had planned on doing in December, Michelle's Big Red 5K, has been canceled. That was going to be my chance to repeat a 5K race route because at Brian's Run this year I'm going to do the 10K and not the 5K this year. Now I'm going to have to wait til May of next year to repeat a 5K race route again.

Solar, Winter, Beaker, Moon, others I'm missing, thank you for the words of support. Don't fret too much over when I rant a bit. In time the seasonal basal metabolism fluctuations should steady themselves, and I'm still functional with good control over my glucose, just not as tight as I'd prefer for now and annoyed by the nasty large numbers that interrupt the expectations of the theoretical models. Oh well, that's life.
