[robin williams voice]GGGGGOOOOOOOODDDDDD MORNING 30s THREAD!!![/robin williams voice]

Well, it's been a real treat to be your thread starter this week. But, alas, today's my last day here in God's Country...that's the unofficial title of the state of Kerela, India [I believe].

India Report: Two interesting things. 1. We stopped at a Varkey's (small grocery store kinda like Safeway) on our way to work this morning to pick up some local sweets/snacks to take back to the states with us. So, that was a bit of excitement getting into a regular store. Nothing too out of the ordinary though. 2. We had a funny discussion about coffee on our way to the office this morning. I was commenting that I wondered when Starbucks would get here. Sourabh responded that Starbucks are already here in India in other cities. We then discussed the size of the Starbucks coffee...mainly the big one, the venti. We've been drinking coffee here, but the portion is not what we are used to in the US. Jay, joked that he was going to keep his soup bowl from lunch and use it to get coffee in. Another thing is that they drink a lot more cream/milk in the coffee. Sourabh had us laughing when he told of his first Starbucks coffee experience on a trip to the US. First he was surprised by how big the cup was, and second there wasn't enough room for him to get enough cream in it to drink. So, he ended up throwing it in the trash. He did say that after 5 months in the states he was converted to the starbucks portion size and the less cream ratio in the coffee. Personally, I take no cream/milk in my coffee...just some sweatner.

So, tomorrow morning we will begin the journey home. We will leave our hotel at 4:45am local India time. That's 6:15pm Friday night central time (in Birmingham) and then hopefully, I will walk in the door to my house at approx 10:45am on Sunday morning. That's one long trip. The route is: Depart Kochi - change in Doha, Qatar - arrive Washington Dulles Saturday night - drive from Dulles to BWI - spend Sat night at Airport Marriott, depart BWI Sunday morning on Southwest for Birmingham.

I'm looking forward to getting home to the wife and kids. Also, I'll be able to get in a proper run out on the road. No more treadmill for a while.

Well, it's about lunch time. And I have one final presentation to make to the staff this afternoon.

This evening, I will post a few more pictures from the trip.

Good morning to all who follow. Have good runs today. VRAA begins today for those of you who are signed up. Good luck. My team's gonna win!!!

Good morning, err, almost good night for me, I guess. I work the night shift this rotation so I keep odd hours sometimes.

I decided to invade the 30's thread since I'm on the edge of turning 30- might as well jump right in, hey?

Well anyway, just a quick hello and best wishes for a great day to all.

Welcome LSU Fan!!!

We have decent SEC representation here in the 30s thread:

LSU - You
Ole Miss - Maples
Mississippi State - Flemdawg
Alabama - Me Roll Tide!
Florida - GatorboB

Did I miss anyone? Any other SEC schools represented here? Do we have any Aubies? Any GA Bulldogs? Davey Crocketts? Carolina Spurriers?

I am looking forward to the start of football season. Nice to see so many SEC teams represented among us. But ya know... the gloves come off on game day!

I happen to know of one more LSU fan lurking around.

Roll Tide hey? We're in trouble! What do you think of Saban?

I was in Tuscaloosa in March, great visit. One of my girl friends lives in Cullman and she came in for a night to hang out with me. My hotel was next to the sports bar near campus. They said they have the after game broadcast there. Of course I wore my LSU gear all week.

Good morning, 30s!

Welcome to our zoo, LSU Fan. I also can't wait for football season to being. Another national title that we get to defend!

Have a safe trip home, Tim. We all look forward to more elephant pictures...

For the first time in eons, I got in my run today before work. It was only 3.25 miles, but I still got up at 5:00am to do it. I can't see how I'd ever make this a regular habit because there's no way I could get up early enough to do a long run. My problem is I sweat too much, and I continue to sweat for a long time after the run is over. And thus I have to wait a while before I shower. If I did a medium-to-long run in the morning, there's no way I'd get to work on time unless I start the run at 2am...

Anyway, I did today's run in the morning becuase I'm headed back to CT immediately after work, and probably wouldn't be able to squeeze in a run in the afternoon. I look forward to seeing my folks again, and I hope I see some improvement in my dad...

And speaking of dads... from yesterday's thread, I see that High Heat 's dad could use some good vibes for some surgery today, and I will be happy to send some his way...

Have a great Friday, everyone...

Morning 30s!

Only a moment to post. Had dinner with the lovely Diane last night, who was even more lovely with a fabu haircut! Really really cute.

I will run later today. 1-2. If it's too hot, maybe just 1. I have 2/1/4 to get done over the weekend. Nothing like compressing my sched.

Good vibes to Daddy Heat.

Oh! A funny story from yesterday: I ran out to do a couple of errands at lunch yesterday and parked on Centre St. Parallel parked. Crossed the street, went to the bank and the store, and ran back across. Beeped the car, then noticed a huge ding on the passenger door. F%#$! DH is away and this is going to be my fault no matter what. Dammit. I open the car door to throw my bags in and notice there's all this junk in the passenger seat...my mind starts racing...what the heck?? Who put all this stuff in...oh....um, it's not my car. That's my car...the one right behind this one. I then proceed to tell 2 random guys that this one isn't my car, but that one is...uh, ok, crazy lady. At least I was looking kinda cute (and def booalicious), so they didn't just keep walking. Who leaves their car doors open in a late model anything in Boston??? I thought my clicker opened the car's doors, but it didn't lock them, so they must have just been open.

OK, that's it now. Gotta get ready for work.

Morning, all--

Got out for my run today, finishing w2 of OHR. While I was running, I decided that I hated running and that I was going to boycott liking running and this site until Monday morning. Now that I can breathe again, I'll recind the boycott. 32:18, 2.5 miles, 3 hills, too much sweat. I did get a wave from three guys in a work truck, so it can't be all bad.

All the runners I passed this morning were much older than I am and in much better shape. They also looked very serious and intent on their runs, so I don't think every man checks out every woman. Though maybe they just didn't want to check me out

Thanks, everyone, for your responses to my QOD. It is now obvious why I weigh more than all of you, include the menfolk. Besides (a) the girls are huge, (b) I eat far more than you do. Cottage cheese and an apple for lunch?!?!?! God bless you. Now I'm nervous about what the nutritionist is going to tell me.

Healing vibes to Poppa HH and Poppa boB, those still recovering from injury (Beaker, Dr. Chris, Nettie, among others, and toothy issues (Diane). To those I'm forgetting, my love and apologies. Safe travels to the travelers.

Good runs and workouts to everyone.

Hi All,

Thanks for the "welcome backs". I never entirely went away, but now you can see me lurking. I just barely have time to skim the thread, much less to post replies, etc.

Keep up all the good work and I'll chime in when I can.

Have a great day!

Hey all:

EZ 5 this am. 75 and sticky before the sun was even up.

I saw something funny though, or at least funny since the guy was OK. I run by a car dealership and they have these tall silly flags next to a bunch of the cars that wave wildly from side to side. I've run by them enough that I've looked at how they are made - there's a long outer sheath of very flexible plastic and a steel core that's maybe 6 feet long with a foot they put under the tire to keep it in place.

Well this morning I'm running towards the lot and I see a flag down, maybe about belt high across the sidewalk, then the long part laying in the street. And a biker coming the other way. For whatever reason he decided that the best was to get around this was to bike at it as fast as he could. Maybe he thought it was all plastic and would just break?

Anyway, he hits the part that has the steel in it. Bike stops immediately. Dude flies over the front wheel, bike somersaults and everything crashes down onto the sidewalk. I stopped to see if he was OK and he was. I told him not to worry, nobody saw him do that.... ??!??!??

Anyway, healing vibes out the HighHeat & Bob's Dads.

Anybody racing this weekend?

I was glad to see Myron checked in last night. I thought maybe he had gotten lost during the Jay and never came back.

Good travels Tim. And way to pick up the slack Tim. We have a strict Tim quota around here.

I can confirm that Moe did look very cute yesterday. That is a very funny story. When DH and I were newly dating, we were going out and had to stop at a store to get something. I ran in while he waited in the car. I made my purchase, came out of the store, and opened the car door...of the car next to his. Boy was that guy surpirsed.

I did make it to the Y yesterday before the aforementioned haircut. Only half an hour because I had to shower and make it to my appt, but better than nothing. I do have plans to go after work today, too, but we are leaving for the Cape tomorrow so I have packing and getting ready to keep in mind. Still, I know DH will shoot me if I even ask whether we have time for me to catch the 8AM Spin class tomorrow (knowing full well that there's no way we'll be anywhere near ready to leave at that hour), so he'll just have to deal with my going tonight.

I am feeling slightly better tooth-wise this morning, although it could be the 6 Advil that I took, because I was certainly in pain when I woke up. But thanks for the good vibes, and I'll send plenty on to DaddyHeat, PapaBob, and everyone else who needs 'em.

Good morning 30s!

Super busy at home and work yesterday so I didn't get a chance to post.

So glad to hear our MN peeps are OK. That's the first thing I thought of when I heard news of the bridge collapsing. Crane, prayers sent to your friend's wife.

HH, hope your dad's surgery is successful and that he has a fast recovery. Great job on the workout!

ManAlive, I'm on Facebook too! Will definitely check out the 30s group.

(((Big G's DD))) and immunity vibes sent to Jen.

Tim, have a safe trip home! Don't forget to pick up some Gatorade!

Hi LSU Fan! Welcome to the thread!

Gator, hope your dad is doing better today.

Hi Moe! Funny car story! I did the same thing a few years ago, only in my case I was thinking, Hey, who washed my car???

Amichel, I wish I could walk to work, but it's exactly 26 miles from my house to my workplace. At least I have a built-in training run when I attempt to train for a marathon!

Glad to hear you are feeling better, Diane. Hope KJ is OK too!

Excellent runs and rest days to everyone! Have a great day!

phillytom that is a funny story. You know, if it happens to me, it's tragedy. If it happens to random guy, it's funny.

amichel Email? I'm switching over to gmail, so try me at christopher(dot)schaeffer(at)gmail.com. That goes for anyone wishing to trade jello shot receipes, or how techniques on how to handle multiple ex's showing up at the same event.

Maureen You probably aren't surprised to learn that guys will do pretty much anything to be in the presence of boobalicious. Really. That fact explains 50% of guy behavior.

Winter Yeah. Guys are checking. Important to remember, we notice, but we don't really care. That is, since most guys have the attention span of a fruit fly, we are not really capable of maintaining any kind of train of thought about what just happened. This explains about another 25% of guy behavior.

Good runs all!

Good Morning 30s!

ohhh healing vibes to ALL who need them ~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I feel great today. I swear by that Airborne stuff. That, and FiberOne cereal, but maybe I shouln't go there. It does make me sound like I'm 87 years old to sing the praises of FiberOne cereal.

Your story made laugh out loud Moe! It reminded me of the time I dropped the kids off at school and I had gotten out of the car to help DD with her backpack or something. I ran back around to my side of the car and hopped in to take off and uhhh No Steering Wheel? DOH! I jumped into the BACKSEAT. I got out super quick and looked around to see if anyone noticed and got into the DRIVERS seat and took off.

It is cool, sunny and gorgeous this a.m. in Central WI. I overslept and dammit I still went out and ran anyway. 4.5 miles. Now I'm sipping a scrumpy cuppa coff-ay and reading and posting. Yah, Normally at this time of day I am ready to leave and I haven't even showered yet so without question I'm going to be late. But I don't care. What are they going to do at this point, fire me? Hah. Normally I do not sport that kind of attitude but it was too nice to not run and I have a marathon to train for and I'm already behind schedule. so there. and then some.

Running first thing in the a.m. is something we all seem to want to do. Why is it so hard? There's a QOD - what is your favorite time of the day to run and then, what is the time of day you USUALLY run?

Oh to answer my own QOD: I like running in the a.m. to get it done and out of the way and I feel great and energized for the rest of the day. I probably get up to run in the a.m. 50% of the time I want to. <sigh> The rest of the time it's done after work and before dinnertime. Around 5:30.
