Well, nice lite rain and 76* here, so I'm looking foreword to my LR in a few minutes.

Good luck Prae and the rest of the racers and may everyone's long runs seem easy (whatever long is for you today).

Ditto for me, except that I am down about 50+ # in 2 years of running. Today was evidence of the "cooler = faster" for me. LR pace is usually 10 mm for me +-15 sec of so. Partway through my run, I came around a corner where there was a nice breeze blowing across an open field. The temp probably dropped 10 degrees (felt like it anyway) and my pace was 9:15 for the next half mile and my HR was about 5-7 bpm lower than it was before than going slower.

Way to go Mary!!!

And ditto to Kini on the casual "3 miles" - nicely done. Very nicely done.

Well I got back from my LR in 1:58 with a several minute stop for Gatorade refill partway. According to Motionbased, it was 11.74 miles with an average moving pace of 9:35 and overall pace of 10:02. I kept my HR in the upper 130's till the last 3 miles and then I picked up the pace and let it climb to the mid-140's. It was 76 when I headed out and there was a very light off-and-on drizzle the whole time that felt GREAT. Funny thing, I was trying Accelerade today and discovered that while running, it gets whipped into a frothy foam. Real strange, but I liked the flavor, tummy was ok with it and I certainly feel a bit less beat-up that I have for a while (course that might be the cooler weather too).

Got home and after a shower, had a Fig Newton, the rest of the Accelerade and then a big glass of fatfree milk with 2 blueberry muffins that DW had made while I was out. Am I a lucky guy or what? Now MIL and DW took both DS's and nephew (visiting MIL from MN) to the movies so I am going to take a little nap on the couch.

29.85 miles for the week
97+ for the month
106 for July
= August should easily be a new high mileage month for my running.
Only 668+ for 2007 so far, but I should be able to break 1100 for the year.

Myron I'm actually hoping to set a PR next HM with a 1:55. But good to chalk it up as a training run and move on.

Melis: I think it is the best place to puke. That was the Dr knows you are not faking it or making it sound like you feel worse that you do. (((Craney))) hope you get it under control soon.

Too cute. I would stick with amused. Also, she didn't say she didn't need you, just that she needed daddy also. It is always better to have both parents when there is a storm (weather or orhterwise) brewing.

I kind of realized I was taking les and less walk breask while trianing for my first marathon. I never set out to not take walk breaks, I just noticed that I needed them less often. I will still take them at times, but today, it was cool here (similar temp to yours, but less humidity) and the only time I slowed, was at the store to buy more Gatorade. There were a couple times I thought about it and decided it is too boring to walk when I want to be running. Nothing wrong with a few walk breaks when you need it (last week was all about walk breaks for me, horrible heat + humidity).

Oh and if anyone cares, I see nothing wrong with taking walk breaks, just something I would rather avoid when I am running.

Rough run. With all those thorns, there must be a rose around somewhere, so keep your eyes open.

ETA, this post made me a 1/2 marathoner !!!

I would love to find an excuse to visit MN again and meet more 30's folks.

Nice race and sounds like it was hard-earned. Nicely written race report as well. (I tried to post as a reply to your RR, but KR seems to have crashed.)

Ditto on the "Nice work Korbel."

We went on a similar ride it sounds like. I did 32.2 in 2:07. My bike was under $700.

Very cool. It helps with the motivation doesn't it? Keep up the good work on OHR.

Most tournaments I've played in have special prizes for the last place. Sometimes very nice prizes. Important thing is having fun though (IMHO).
