Got 4.5 on the TM last night... thinking of resting tonight so I can go Sat/Sun/Mon, and maybe meet my weight goal for the year.

Gotta figure out how/when I'm going to add weight training in... the new year is just around the corner!

Today's just going to be a rest day for me. Had a very nice and comfortable 8.2 miles last night doing it at my easy easy pace. The HRM is great for enforcing that pace, I think I have tendency when running on my own to want to push up a bit above that but right now I think a good 4 or 5 weeks of mostly easy running will be really good to get my legs to where I want to go next.

Good Morning All!

The next few days will be on the TM. The weather should be better next week and I need to get my act together on working with the incline/decline; so the TM is actually a good thing right now.

At least 11 today, in an hour or so. I'm still in bed with my coffee, bad! I did make it a while on the rollers (but, with the fork stand) last night. Baby steps. I made the mistake of checking out YouTube and searching "bike rollers". There were a couple of pretty impressive crashes, but also some amazing riders out there. One guy was no hands, then one or no feet and totally stable. Of course, he wasn't on a tri bike...that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Scratch, I always use my HRM, even if it's just to look things over after a run. I don't follow my HR too closely durning most runs with the exception of making sure I go slow...I agree it really helps to keep things at a nice pace for recovery. That is also one of my major goals this go around---keeping things truly easy when they are supposed to be.

For much of last year, I ran using the HRM to collect data, especially about how effort level correlated with effects upon my blood sugars while running. Then about mid-October I decided to run a bit more naked so to speak with a little less compulsive data collection although I still have to test my blood sugars before and after out of necessity.

What I've learned from that less techno running period is that I do have a tendency, an inclination, to want to push my pace. But the heart's response to the demands of that doesn't care about what I want, the heart will beat as much as it needs to, so yeah, wearing the HRM again will be a good idea if I want to keep the easy paced runs truly easy.

No hands is relatively easy... in fact I almost think that it's easier to ride rollers with no hands than with hands... One footed is a bit harder, but it really works on getting rid of your dead spot in your pedal stroke.

No hands and one foot is really, really hard, but do-able after you have some roller experience.

I don't have any experience riding rollers on a Tri bike though. I would imagine that in the aero position (on the aero bars) it would be pretty hard simply because your weight is distributed so far forward.

Kreitler rollers rock! They are like the Mercedes of rollers - they will last forever, and they are so smooth. I have an old set of Minaura rollers, I've had them since around 1991, and they are still going strong, and they are no where near as nice as Kreitlers.

Happy Friday!

Finally ran last night -- 4.26 miles in 36 and change (can't remember exactly). It. Was. Teh. Suck. I did a one mile warmup, two miles of hill repeats, and then a one mile cooldown. I hate those hills. Give me a track to sprint around ANY DAY over hills. Bleh.

Tempo run tonight, 2-hour Spinning class tomorrow morning, and 10 miles Sunday with my friend Michelle. I'll be so grateful for the company! Even better, she said she'll probably come to my Spinning class tomorrow. This is good news, because it means her legs will be as tired as mine on Sunday!

GOOD LUCK NETTIE!!!!!!!! Kick some serious ultra booty!!

Theia - no, that's too far for me to get to on a regular basis, it
s down in West Chester.

I'm going to Summit - http://www.summitfitnessclub.com/page.aspx.

The other nice thing about it is it's a mile from my house. I could easily run there, work out and then run back.
