Morning!

I'm still listening to Wicked this morning, although the thread starting
quote is from the current household favorite - High School Musical.

DD#2 is sick, so no run this morning. Will go tonight.
I ran almost every day last week and although my ankle hurts
when I start out, by mile 2-3 it is not hurting anymore.

I would diagnose that as a soft tissue/tendon/ligament injury of some
sort. *phew*

Good runs all.....

'Morning all.

I've been a slacker, and haven't read all the RR's from the weekend. Hope you guys all had your usual "kick ass" performances!

This week, I will start incorporating running back into my walking routine. It'll be a 'baby step' of running.. maybe only trying 1/4 of a mile actually running, to see how the ankle holds out, but I'm happy with it, nonetheless.

Also - on total non-running news.. HEROES comes on tonight! Yeehaw! Can't wait for that one.

Hope you guys have a wonderful day! I'll check back in later...
Okay, again I started a thread right about the same time as someone else. Ignore the one I did, and just post here. Here's what I wrote over there:

Well, it's Monday again. I hope everybody had a good weekend. Congrats to all the weekend racers. And now it's time to go to work again...

Hey, Maggie and I need to get a new digital camera. With a baby on the way, we'll have a lot of pics to take, and it looks like our current one (Sony Cybershot, maybe 4 years old) is pretty much dead. I liked the Cybershot, so I'm thinking of just getting a new one. Anybody got any suggestions for a good but not very expensive camera? Neither of us are great photographers, so we don't need anything with a lot of bells and whistles. I probably won't check in again until late today, but I'd appreciate any suggestions you guys have in the meantime...

Have a great day, all...
Quick post this a.m. before I head off to work. Supposed to run 7 miles today. I don't know if I'll get that many in or not, 7 miles takes a bit more planning than shorter distances.

Bob- my brother is a manager of a camera store and is a free-lance photographer on the side. I know one big piece of advice he gives is to buy a digital camera made by a camera company (Nikon, Fuji, Kodak, etc) rather than one made by a computer company (HP, etc). You can get some nice quality basic models. If you have a camera store near you, I'd recommend stopping by to talk to someone there, much like you go to a running store for your running shoes. A good salesperson will ask about your needs, your price range, what sorts of things you expect to do with your camera, the fact that you don't want a lot of bells and whistles, and have you try several models that might work. At the big box stores, they will either not be knowledgeable enough to answer your questions, or will steer you toward whichever model they are currently promoting which may or may not be the best one for you.

Morning Chris, Ailarie, Bob and everyone!

Quick hello as the kids are coming in to homeroom... I had a great time at the race yesterday -- if you are interested, I wrote up a report in the race forum...

Hope everyone had a good weekend. I haven't really had a chance to read through the whole weekend thread.

And I'd just like to say, again, how lucky I am to have such great friends here. And some special 30's wimmins really know how to make a girl feel supported

I'll check back at lunch!
Mornin' Luvs!!
I am running late because my friend Ryan needed some early morning friend luvs. ie kick in his ass about a stupid girl.
heh.

Off day for me which is good since I've got way too much doing today.

Doc... take two green ones and call me in the morning.

Bob I got nuthin'. I can't even do that, although if I don't lock my keypad, I end up taking tons of pictures....of the inside of my bag!

Happy birthday to my little girl! She's 5 today. We gave her her big present yesterday, though---her first 2-wheeler, with training wheels. She seems to be a natural, I gotta say. 5 years ago today, I was trying to get down the stairs from our 2nd-floor apt and into DH's car while having contractions. NOT fun. But the end result? Awesome.
Just stopping by to say Good Morning before I go to work and can't post.

I will be reading solar's RR by the end of the night!

I can wait for Heroes either!
Morning, friends--

Poor Bob and his bad luck on starting threads.

Woohoo Kini and her drunk registering for a half! You'll be awesome, sister!

Yay to all who are getting back into the saddle after injuries.

((((Hugs)))) to all who need them.

I ran 2.59 miles in 31:10. I would have hit an even 2.6, but I ran into a mentor from school (who is 6 months pregnant, and I didn't know), so I stopped just shy of the traffic light to talk to her. For the first time in a long time, nothing hurt when I ran today. Head, shoulders, knees and toes felt fine. Well, actually, I was making fun of Barry Bonds for being on the DL for a sprained big toe (I mean, I go to work when my toes hurt), but then Saturday afternoon, I kicked my shredder and my left pinky toe still hurts. I was afraid it would prevent me from running, but I forgot about it before I finished my warm up walk, so no big deal.

I hope everyone has a great day. I put about 20 applications in the outgoing mailbox last night; only 10 more to do today!

Brandy - you have been putting in sick miles lately - you should be damn proud, and you are gonna be so prepared.

solarpowered - Congrats on the tri - need to go back and read the RR but you sound pretty upbeat here.

The best recoveries usually involve alcohol. For me at least...

Dankinia - big ups on signing up for Eugene.
Going show tunes on us, huh?? Kidding aside, Wicked is one of my favorite shows. I love the whole Orwellian aspect of society repressing the minority aspect. Mrs. Tim heard me say that after we saw it, and her response was "huh? I just like the pretty music."

I have a v-neck sunburn from my daughter's football game yesterday in Berlin, CT. Such a gorgeous day.

boB Re: Camera advice: You can do enough research online to determine what specs you are looking at, and then go to a store and TRY THEM OUT. You can look at the specs for a Canon and a Nikon, and they may seem identical, but when you go to the store to play with them, they may feel different, or the controls may seem more intuitive on one or the other.

LL - sorry about your Monday.

Happy Birthday Baby Dianosaur!!

Running. etc. 5.5 yesterday, weights this AM. If I am going to keep running at4 dpw until my back is 100%, I need to add something else to the mix. For now, that is weights and core.

Mornin' everyone! Just waiting for it to get light out so I can get out for 8. Whoohoo, it's in the 60's out there!

Kick ass jobs this weekend Solar and Merry Mary! Did anyone else race?

Happy B-day Diane's DD!

Feel better, Doc's DD.

{{{ Prae's toe }}}. Congrats on the applications! Sounds like the light at the end of that particular tunnel is getting closer.
Morning. I've been awake since about 3. Not really pleased with that.

On tap for this week: another week of more than 20 miles running (~23.5 miles) and hope to do a total of 200 or more pull ups with 10.5 kg on my back.

That's all I got for now.
g'morning!!!

8 yesterday in 1:24:53. slooooooow. and sweet. i feel pretty good today, especially since the rest of the weekend entailed fall preparatory yard work and finally taming the room that belongs to DS. two big projects out of the way, and that's helpful.

last week sucked. was on my way to an important meeting friday afternoon, and blew a tire on the interstate. i was ahead of schedule, can fully change a tire myself, and it happened a mile BEFORE the last exit to my town, so it wasn't too bad. i even had time to go pick up a new tire from my favorite tire guys and only was 15 minutes late for my appointment. but that's that much more money unexpectedly out the window, and it kinda pisses me off. *sigh* i was wearing a low-cut blouse that day, and wouldn't you know it? more fellas stopped to help than have ever tried before. one guy wouldn't back off. had to tell him, "HEY. i have a degree in forestry and i think if i can take a chainsaw apart and put it back together faster than you, i can PROBABLY change a f***ing car tire. thanks." i HATE being condescended to by men who really do think they must know more just because they carry around more in their pants.

huh. i guess i feel pretty strongly about that.

anyway. running's going well, life is busy as ever, and i'm hanging onto my sanity this week.

bob, many of the photos i have posted on my professional site i took with a little Olympus point-and-shoot. 3.2 megapixels, tops. but usually i only went as high as 2.1, and totally got shots that could go as large as 8x10, crystal clear. i still pack that camera along for hikes and beach trips and caving - all the adventures i don't want to muck up my digital SLR on. you shouldn't have to pay more than 200.00 for something REALLY up to the challenges you'll pose it. something you may want to keep in mind: if you get a camera that has a built-in battery, you may find yourself out of juice at inconvenient times. i stock rechargeable batteries at home and always have a handful charged to toss into the little camera bag. i'm never out of juice.

okay - gotta run. it's good to see you all. stay healthy, and happy trails!

Morning!

Now on the backside of my 12 week training for NYC - woo-freakin'-hoo!

Happy berfday little dianasaur!

The weekend flew by - started at 5am on Sat with a track workout which was pretty entertaining. A supplier of mine bet me he could run 400m in 1:10-1:15 - he's a smoker who I just convinced to do his first half marathon (2:17 - not too shabby at all given his smoking and poor training, but he plays a lot of soccer). I told him that, while I THOUGHT I could do it, I certainly wouldn't bet $$ that I could run that pace so I decided as part of my workout to see how fast I could run 400m. Bearing in mind I wasn't feeling real fresh due to Air Force and not having anyone to run against, the first attempt was 1:16 and the second was 1:13 - after seeing my times, I thought "I may as well make plans for spending that $25 cuz there ain't no effing way he's running anywhere near those times!" Hilarious!

After track, I picked up our new phones (cool!) then went to a soccer game. After lunch, my FiL and I worked on pulling out a neighbor's playset that they were nice enough to give to us since their kids are old. Should have been easy - disassemble a few large pieces, throw it in the truck, drive down to my house and reassemble - right? WRONGO!! Rusted bolts, bad wood, heavy playset = one tired dude at the end of the day. After my long run of 16 miles yesterday morning, I spent the next 6-7 hours pulling 10-12 stumps out, tilling the backyard, positioning the playset, etc - I was so frigging exhausted, and it ain't done yet! I think it will work out great but shazam! it's a lot of work!

Congrats to our weekend racers - tris and trail runs indeed!

Steelers = 3-0 makes for one happy PacerDude!

Monday morning, again?

Four miles in the books for today. Every Monday (and just Mondays) I see the same two women on my route. Always get a friendly "hello" from them, might just have to ask 'em next week if they're training for anything.

Timr - sorry about your boys Saturday night. Really thought Saban was gonna pull that one out.

Great runs/races again this weekend people. Makes me proud to say I'm part of this group.

Bob - before we went to Taiwan we bought one of the Canon powershots and couldn't be happier with it: takes great pics, and is small enough to fit in your pocket.
good morning all

It is yucky humid carpy out this morning. I also didn't sleep well last night. I swear I was up at least 4 times to pee. WTF?? Anywho, the run SUCKED. My 10 miles were slow and my strides didn't help much....heck, it was just wretched trying to get my strides going. Blah. I am now crabby and at work...why must everyone here annoy me today? why oh why?

So, what's up with you all?

Litch - Thanks! I am feeling a bit tired today. I hope that this program gets me all ready for the marathon.

Bob - one of these days, your thread will be THE ONE!
Good Morning everyone!

Doc sending DD#2 get better vibes (keep some for yourself too).

Ailarie - good luck on the come back

bob - I love my cybershot, not the newest but it still rocks. DH has a Canon which he likes as well. I agree with whoever said it about reading specs then trying them out. You need to play with the buttons and switches to see which kind feel the best to you. DH and I differ in that so we each have our own.

Lora - Glad to hear the TRI went well. Headed over to read your report after I type this. We missed you this weekend!

Happy 5th Birthday little Dianosaur!

This weather couldn't be more awesome, which made for a great weekend to be in the mountains! My glands feel a little swollen this morning. I hope its the goldenrod and not a cold coming on.

I plan on doing 3 at lunch today.

I have a 4:15 orthopedic doctors appt. It's a followup for my Morton's Neuroma but I think I might have to have x-rays on that foot. The Morton's has been fine ever since the cortizone shot but I still get excruciating pain at the base of the 3 smaller toes (like bone pain). Wonder if its arthritis or something. The pain isn't when I run, just whenever, sometimes when I'm wearing heals, sometimes when I'm laying around doing nothing with no shoes on. I hope he doesn't want to give me another shot though, that was very unpleasant last time!

Headed over to read race reports, be back later friends!

Awesome weekend with the wimmins. Awesome, awesome, awesome. Got two good workouts in, as well -- biked 16.4 miles on Saturday and ran 7.9 HILLY miles yesterday with Maria. I apologize again for slowing you down so much, my friend.
