Hi all- hope everyone had a great weekened. DH was visiting his parents in Ohio- I picked him up at 9:45 last night and dropped him back off at the airport at 5:45 this morning to go to Cali. At least I can see some light at the end of the tunnel. We're still trying to sort things out with the house we're trying to buy out there. PITA.
I'm getting ready to go to pilates-first exercise I've done in 29 days (post surgery) and am excited. Hoping when I see my surgeon this afternoon he'll give me the green light to run again! Congrats to the weekend racers.
I'll check in later!

Good morning, all. I saw some reports of some great runs this weekend. Good job, folks!

Today begins Week 5 of my Philly training, and it's a down week. I suppose that's not a bad thing. Instead of my usual Monday tempo run, the schedule calls for cruise intervals. Not bad...

Hey, I mentioned this on Saturday, but I didn't see a response. So let me ask again, and if I get ignored again I'll figure out what it means... I got a postcard in the mail recently from RoadrunnerSports telling me that the Mizuno Wave Rider 10 will soon be discontinued. Does that mean that the WR11s are already out? I'm still on my first pair of WR10 (since I had a couple pairs of WR9s that I bought right at the end of their lifecycle). I know we've got a few WR fans here; what are you guys doing for shoes these days?

Umm, I guess that's it. Have a great Monday, folks. If that's possible...

Morning!

I was actually able to turn off the AC last night and I slept with my bedroom windows open and ceiling fan on last night! That was nice! The weather is only (ha!) supposed to be in the upper 80s or low 90s this week. Yeehoo. I'm gonna have to dig out my coat! At least this probably means we are on the downswing with regards to temps. I am battling some kind of cold now, too, since Fri. I first felt that itch in my ears that changes to conjestion. Now my throat is mildly sore and my nose is conjested, too. I hope this is as far as it goes. I definitely cannot miss school this early on- especially since we have parents' night tomorrow! I suspect I caught this at the gym from one of the machines, despite my diligence in cleaning.

Anyway, the plan is to go to monday spin with a leg weight workout before. Nothing too exciting. Run in the morning....

Bob- sorry, I wear mizuno's but I don't know about the WRs. I thought the new versions came out in Jan? Just get a couple of back up pairs, I guess. I will need to do that soon, too for my Inspire 2s (the 3s have been out since Jan/Feb!)

KJ- good luck at the dr! Hope it's super good news!

Tiff- sounds like you had a really good time! I LOVE getting free stuff. Some folks here can attest that I am a self-named "sample whore!"

Nettie- glad it's officially official! I still need to do that..........

Ok, time to get ready for work. I still don't quite know what we're gonna do in class today! D'oh!

Happy Monday!

KJ enjoy the class and good luck at the doctor's!
Bob I wear Mizuno Wave Runner (I think) and I'm overdue for a new pair. Thanks for your post as it is the kick in the pants I need to get myself over to Fleet Feet.
Beth Sorry to hear about your cold - I think summer colds are the worst!

3.25 at the park yesterday after 5 days off due to crazy work (travel) schedule. This week does not look much better.

Happy, Monday!

Good morning gang!

Oh my aching quads...and most everything else! I ran in the Conquer the Canuck this weekend at the local ski hill. I decided to do the 12.5 k, try and redeem myself from getting lost last year (which resulted in my first DNF). Everything seemed to be going well until I came out to a clearing to find two guys standing around...lost. That's when I knew I'd taken a wrong turn...or missed a turn...somewhere. So we all backtracked and found the right way. One guy fell behind me, one went way ahead. I caught up with him later on and we finished together. He had a Garmin on so we found out we actually did 15.5 k instead. So much of it was uphill...and I mean so uphill that you needed to grab the trees to pull yourself up. And it was stinkin' hot and thick. I think my finish time was somewhere around 2 hours and 45 minutes. Once again, that hill has kicked my butt. Next year, darnitt!

Oh...I thought of a good slogan for a tshirt for me..."I'm here to make the slow guys feel fast!" hee hee!

KJ good luck at the doc's! I hope you get the word you're looking for! When is the big move to Cali?

Congrats to our runners this weekend! There was some tough going but you guys all pulled it off!

Bob the shower sounds like it went well! I haven't bought a stitch of clothes for Lena so far, believe it or not! Even the wonderful wimmen here got her stuff, they rock!

Good morning.

I had a good time at the Phillies game yesterday, was glad to make it out to one game this year.

No run today or yesterday, it's felt like I've needed a good solid 2 days of rest for my legs. Then hopefully with the weather cooled off, I'll get a good tempo run in tomorrow morning.

Going to also try to do a fairly high volume of weighted pull ups, 14.3 lbs in a backpack, got 20 in this morning before work. Also got in 24 push ups with 28.6 lbs on my back. Then some tucked front levers hanging from the chin up bar to get the abs.

Now I need to start settling in on what to do here at work here Monday.

Morning!! I am officially back to school. Class this morning isn't too bad, but Wednesdays are going to kick my bottom!

Small running accomplishment: I ran my first back to back days!! Woot!! I may even make it 3 if I get one in today!

Scratch - I can't help you with the shoe problem. I don't wear that brand so I don't know what the company's practices are.

Morning Folks! I'm nursing my coffee before hitting the gym for my wakeup workout. That cold front came through last night, thank doG! I hope it stays this way. Good runs everyone!

Hey guys. Still wheezing and now hacking too. Awesome. I took the bus this morning, but I hopped off about half way to get a coffee and walked the rest of the way to work. So I did something today. I'm so PEEVED that this happened when it did!!!! Like I said yesterday, I've been feeling good about running and now I'm sidelined again...I'm calling the doctor today...if she says to go ahead and run, I will; I just don't want to make anything worse.

I don't know who said it, but there weren't any prizes for last place.

I haven't registered yet for Philly...and AirTran, who has the cheap flights from Boston to Philly pulled the flight info for Nov, so I haven't been able to get a flight; I am NOT paying $250 to fly down.

Great job Colleen and all other racers!!!

Sorry, I'm a little pissy today. I hate being sick.

Morning all - Just noted that I made 100 miles for the month - First time in a while, and whilst maybe not perfect preparation for Philly, it's going in the right direction.

Auntie Moe - Can you get a train to Philly? (I'm asking as I'll be taking the train down from NY on the Friday. Seem to recall from 05 that it was cheap enough from Ny to Philly, is there a way to do the same from Boston?

Hey all!

Great races and runs this weekend despite the sloggy humidity! I was keeping track from a distance (aka, my phone)...

Clare - you're a butt-kicker, don't let the mountain tell you otherwise! What an event...!

Moe - feel better soon...glad you could get something exercise-y in today...

Scratch - that's some serious home-gym work! If you're ever looking for an alternative weight workout, come on over. I've got digging and hauling to be done!

Bob - Sorry, not a mizunos gal. But glad you got some loot from the baby shower!

Tanya - good luck at school!

I spent the weekend with my best friend and her two very young kids, helping corral them (her husband was out of town). Phew! 1) Glad I don't have any kids (I love my sleep way too much for that) and 2) Glad I wasn't the mommy so I didn't have to change a single diaper! I was wiped by the time I got home yesterday.

But...the best part of visiting babies is the playing - had much fun entertaining the 2 yo and cooing with the 5mo!

I've come across an opportunity to refinance my house - just 9 months into ownership! - too long a story to detail here, but it's a great opportunity, but the assessor is scheduled to come on Thursday. And after a weekend away and 3 days on the road, I have about 0 hours to make the house assess-worthy! So last night I mowed the lawn, weeded all the beds, hosed down the porch, tidied the basement, cleaned the kitchen, touched up the molding in the front room.

Oh, and ran 5.9 miles. I was determined to get my LR in!

I'll do the rest of the house when I get back Wednesday night. I want a good assessment! And the assessor told me these days everything can count. Wish I hadn't asked.

I'm sore today - not from the run, I don't think, but from the weeding...oy, my hamstrings!

Okay, I should find some work to do. And stop hogging the thread with my huge post.

Have a great day and great runs all!

Morning people...

Great runs to everyone this weekend!

Dom let us know when the race report is up.

6.27 miles this morning - beautiful out, sun barely up over the horizon, left my iPod at home. Quite peaceful.

Off to get ready for work.

Liam - congrats on the monthly total. This month is the first time I've been over 120 miles ever, and I still have four days left.

Bob - most likely the WR 11s are out or will be out shortly. There is probably enough existing stock of the 10s to hold people over for awhile anyway. I suggest you stock up if you really like the 10s.

Hey, Hey!

Wow! It sure was stormy here last night--we have more huge branches in the yard this a.m. Sigh. I just got done cleaning the yard.

I start my teaching gig today. Any advice from our prof types?

Tattoo peeps--LL/Tonya/KP--I think it's time for a picture update, or did I miss it?

My running is kinda screwy, but I think I'll do 5 again today. I'd like to have a true LR this weekend. Oh wait...Victory 10K may be the gig...

MN Peeps-Blubber Run 5k James Page is Sept 15. This is simply a fun race--there are some mostly-non-running friends also doing it, one of them who is running her first 5k! Who wants to meet me at mile 1 for beer?

Mary, Jen, Korbels, Baggs, Brandy, Sage, Jess???

Hey kids -

Will catch up on the thread later, but I wanted to thank everyone for the support from my crappy Sat run. The follow up to that is that my left calf, which I originally though I had a cramp with, has something more going on. It is sightly sore all the time, but every few minutes, I get a sharp pain that is severe enough that I find myself gasping. Did not even realize that til Mrs. Tim asked why I gasped. Been icing it and loading up on vitamin I. Took an extra day off today, and will see about tomorrow. If anything, it will be short and easy.

After thinking about it for a few days, I think I just ramped up my milage too quickly. May and June were both 103 miles, but in July, between a back issue and a vacation, I dipped to 55. August is at 123 at this point, and if I had not cut two LRs short, I would be around 130. Starting to think I should drop my HM in Oct, and maybe focus on shorter stuff for the fall. There is a nice 10 K on Sept 16th right near where I live that I may give a shot at. I dunno at this point.

Sorry for the self centered-ness.

happy monday morning!

carptastic run this morning. It was supposed to be 8 GA miles with 10 100 m strides. I did the strides but my pace blew. Blah

Crane - blubber run is the same day as the 20 miler in WBL so DH and I will be doing that instead. I think i may be too wrecked to do anything later on that day.

Korbel - I saw interchange 35 so I wouldn't even seen you! Congrats. I wouldn't have been able to run that pace with ya anyways!

Yes, I can actually...but sadly it will likely cost me as much as if not more than a flight (much more than AirTran, if they ever their acts together and respost their flights.)

Unfortunately, America's transportation infrastructure stinks, so while I'd prefer to take the train, it's more money, less reliable, and less available than air travel.

(It's also a 6 hour train ride, so flying is faster, even with security and baggage claim.)

Morning all. We're having a beautiful morning here, let's hope it carries through to the afternoon. I have 11 on tap with 6 x 1000 (uh, how the hell am I gonna figure that out on the streets?) and feel the bike ride I did yesterday treating me pretty good.

boB - Nice sounding baby shower action What a sweet gift from your parents too!

Colleen - Congratulations on an excellent return to racing!!!

Go Tonya Go!!!

Nice numbers Liam …how's your training for Philly going thus far?

Craney - I'm sooooo p.o.'ed at Top Chef; that is all.

Tim (CT) - what about making some week-by-week assessments of your training, body conditions, etc.? I think the weather has a lot to do with cutting the LR shorts; I've been tempted myself.

Hey, who wrote our Club Description? I love it!

Haven't been here in a while, so I apologize for not knowing what's going on. KJ is moving, Maureen is still not feeling well... What else?

I did a short brick workout Friday (51 minutes bike on the trainer followed by a very hot and sweaty 2-mile run (actually 1.96) in 15:5. Coach A made me take a cutback week, so I ran 6.8 yesterday at the beach rather than 9 or 9.5 as I'd planned. Spinning and weights tonight.

Crane - tattoo update: first session for mine is Wed night. 6 pm. And when I finally was able to talk to the artist about it, it was decided to make it bigger. Pics will be posted Wed night/Thursday morning.

Maria - 1000 meters is just over .6 of a mile. FYI. Aren't most block in NYC about 0.1 of a mile long?
