Mornin' all!!

Stuck at work all night. Such is the life of a schlub (sp?) who is going on vacation. Yep. You heard me. Tuesday - at the crack of dawn - we are catching a flight to Cabo. Of course, they are predicting clouds and isolated T-storms for the first 3 days we are there. too bad. I am having fun, and no one is stopping me.

While the scanner was doing its thing (I am taking a couple of files with me - on a flash drive), I was able to catch up on a few of the threads. You folks are a chatty crowd these days.

Hope all your races went well this weekend. I will follow the thread for a little while - assuming there are replies at this GAWDAWFUL time of day, then will try to check in again tonite.

Be well!!

Cool. Let's figure something out as it gets closer...

McT - I don't see a beer thread for week 2 yet...am I missing it...or are you slacking?
Flem, yes, I probably should've included an Alabama one, eh? After all, Alabama was the genesis of our current fascination with random...

I guess I tried to keep my list to things that weren't random; i.e. places that I thought a lot of people could be convinced to go. Would a lot of 30s be willing to go to Alabama? Hmmm, maybe. I don't know. If you want, suggest it on the thread I started, and I'll add it to my list...
I've got family in Alabama, some live in the nicer part of B'ham.
my legs feel more dead today than they ever have...I damn near took our freight elevator up one flight of stairs to a meeting an hour ago

ughhhhhh
Mercedes Marathon: I did the HM portion and Pacer did the full before. It's a butt kicker of a course. Nice swag (2 shirts (1 tech, 1 cotton LS), tote bag, gloves, cool mercedes emblem medal, beer and bbq at the finishline) but you'll earn it.

The Rocket City Marathon is here in Huntsville, AL on December 8th. I'll be making my full debut there.

The only other AL marathon is the Firstlight Marathon in Mobile in January.

Hey guys, just wanted to make you aware of a thread in the PRT that is pretty cool!

Its about a guy who posts here some, but just did the Tahoe Rim 100 mile race this past weekend! He totally rocked that race! Very tough race and he ran it in a great time!

Anyway, just wanted to point it out to anyone who didnt happen to see it and might be interested in it! It also includes some pictures!

http://www.kickrunners.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7929

We actually have 3 ultra runners here, Merigayle, Hi Everybody and now Mudrunner! I dont know if any of you are ulta people, but if so, please be sure to share with us! We love to hear about your awesome runs! (all runs are awesome, but those ultra folks, well, they are just nuts! )

Fargo is a great race. Green Bay I've heard good things about. I'd really like to wear my Viking's jersey through Lambeau.

Plus, both of those races have a half to go with it. I'd be up for either of those. I'm hoping I'm running a different race in April, so I won't be able to travel long, long distances.

Grandma's Marathon is easy to get into, but the half has a lottery to get in.
Baggs, I like the way you think...no I LOVE the way you think....
Grandmas is easy to get into... but still a pain in comparison to 99.999% of the marathons in the country. You have to send them a SASE... wait for an app... send it back before the special date... and then you will probably get in.

At which point, you will be scrambling for lodging .

Mercedes is HARD. Rocket City is a much easier course... but not an attractive course and there are NO spectators at all in this race until the end.

I left info about other races in the other thread.

Green Bay is a very cool race (I mentioned Fargo and Eugene over there).
From their site:

NEW IN 2008! Online registration will be used for Grandma's Marathon.
still the hotel situation is crap. I'll drive up and say hi to you guys, but I am not dropping $500 on a country inn & suites in Proctor MN.
I'm not sure about some of the people out there.
So hungover, but must run. Must get miles in.
Well, if we decide to have a 30s gathering at Grandma's, then we'll all just have to stay at McTortle's house..
Holy smokes! Grandmas catches up to 2003!

This is awesome news, lg. Thanks.

That said, lodging is probably still a fun gotcha there. There are ways around this... totally doable... just know that this will be a thing-to-deal-with.
Just don't pull a Nettie! ukeright:
Can you imagine trying to run after spending the night at her house? I would still be drunk off all the yummy beer!
We'd have to ditch Gobbles and strap on (hee hee) some of these... you know, keep the par-tay going

I am pretty sure that Gobbles would attach really nicely to this baby. Hmm...might have to have an Ale during that. A heavier beer just might not sit right in my belly.
