Mornin' all!!

Stuck at work all night. Such is the life of a schlub (sp?) who is going on vacation. Yep. You heard me. Tuesday - at the crack of dawn - we are catching a flight to Cabo. Of course, they are predicting clouds and isolated T-storms for the first 3 days we are there. too bad. I am having fun, and no one is stopping me.

While the scanner was doing its thing (I am taking a couple of files with me - on a flash drive), I was able to catch up on a few of the threads. You folks are a chatty crowd these days.

Hope all your races went well this weekend. I will follow the thread for a little while - assuming there are replies at this GAWDAWFUL time of day, then will try to check in again tonite.

Be well!!

I think I'm just jealous. It has been so long since I have had enough to drink that I have forgotten how rotten it can feel. Hope you are 100% recovered by now.

re bike ride: Thanks. 1 year ago, I was lucky to average 11-12 mph for a 1-2 hour ride and this was the day after a 9 mile run at my planned marathon pace so that felt good.

I like snakes. The last big snake I saw was about a month ago:

But I've seen lots of little snakes recently.

I'm pretty sore today. Swimming at lunch might be possible.

QOD: Gender. Velocity. General weight. Age.
QOD female- count me in with the boob crew (bad habbit I know) then it would be speed I suppose. With dudes if I don't ignore them completely it would be speed.
Does that mean that you really are part of some board, or does it reflect # of posts. I realize that may be a totally dumb question, but what the hell. Once again, I blame DS and his 2AM waking. he had NO interest in going back to sleep, either, until around 5AM.

Someday I'll post another picture. I swear, that kid could net me a fortune on eBay, yet I keep him anyhow.

Totally kidding. I am against the selling of children or, really, any human trafficking.
People....PLEASE stop with the snake pictures- I will not be able to sleep tonight. And I am home, alone, again this week.
That would be cool...I'll need a longer run that weekend (10ish) to get ready for some fall events. Just don't blow my doors off.
QOD - I notice gender, general size, and then stride (foot strike, knee angles, pronation at the ankle/foot, etc.)
Who says that's a bad habit???!!!??? Whatever keeps the motivation level up when you're out there hammering away. After all, you're just admiring the beauty of a fellow runner.

(Oh, and that's also why sunglasses were invented)
Amen to that!

If checking out members of the opposite sex is a bad habit, well then.... I don't want to be good....
Oh, and of course you, too HH! We had great fun trouble man!
Yeah, once you get to 2000 posts you can become a Member of the Board and your name goes all Maria-green. It is purely elective.
Ever have running people 'dis you? Not because you are not as fast as them or run as far as them, but because they feel you run too far? A "friend" from church always has been interested in my running and expressing admiration for my long runs and improvements. When I started talking marathon a year ago she said "you know humans were not made to run that far". So when I finished my first she said something like "you got lucky, but sooner or later your body will give up on you". Turns out she DNF'd her first and only marathon attempt at 22 miles. I just have started avoiding the topic of running if she is around. Arrgh!
OK, is it the swivel-head look or do I need darker shades? Or is it the extra panting? Please do tell.
Sounds like the type of person who can't feel good for you because they are so stuck on feeling bad for themselves!

I think you're doing fabulously Cactus!! So there.

(Here was an interesting sight at the Y's pool today: me, 2 older men all swimming laps. . .3 younger men standing around posing and one 18?17?19? year old in a teeny-tiny bikini sitting on the edge of the pool, completely made up and looking extremely bored. I'm afraid I may have splashed her . . .accidentally, of course, getting out of the pool today. . .I'm so clumsy. . . )

Sorry kj - couldn't resist...please forgive me

Brandy - Jake rules! Funny!

Congrats Nettie on gaining executive status!
It's our special 5th sense. . .
5th sense? I would argue 6th...but anyways...same idea I was going to post. You can just tell. You know when you are being watched. You just know.
Nettie - we're your friends hun. Of course we won't let you live that down!

Oh yah.. hi everyone! I've been in lurk mode all morning. Still being benched, sometimes I just feel like I don't have anything to really contribute to the group, but usually someone says "something" that I just can't help but respond to!

Maccabeth - from yesterday's thread, I too, was watching the American Gladiators. I considered that show to be the shiznit in its time. Now, I still find it amusing, and would love to try "some" of the games. Though I would definitely do it without the poofy 80's hair. (been there, done that)

Gov - Have lots o fun in Cabo!

Mr Theia - Holy crappers. I was in awe of the report!! Dayum!

Theia - Hope you're kickin butt too, woman!

Lots o Kudos to everyone else who raced or just ran their butts off this weekend! My memory has all but lost who did what, but I do remember the talk of next year's winner of a particular race possibly getting a fire hat!

Maples - Just so you know.. we expect puppy photos to show up here soon!

Winter - Grats on the double digit run!

Spring 30's get-together: While Radioyada and I won't be able to make Philly, we'd definitely be interested in a spring gathering!

QoD: not a whole lot, as usually I'm hoping I'm not struggling so much to make THEM look at ME, thinking "Man, that girl needs to slow down!"

Snakes - I am apparently going to be the weird one of the group. Unless it's a posionous one, or I'm potentially going to get bitten by one, I actually like them. Always have. Loved their texture (not slimy as you'd think), and their muscle control is just fascinating.

Here's a snake story. (KJ - SKIP THE NEXT TWO PARAGRAPHS if you're really freaked out easily where snakes are concerned). When I was in high school, I was at a small party. The host had a pet snake... maybe a python? I'm not sure. Anyway, the snake was "out and about" while we were all hanging out. Eventually, let's say that I partook of something that put me in lala or zzzz land for a bit, and was sort of curled up in a big recliner, with a blanket over me.

Hours later, they couldn't find the snake and started to panic... thinking someone had accidentally left a door open. On a hunch, someone slowly took the cover off my still "unaware of the world" self, to find said boa or python happily curled up, on top of my tummy. I have no recollection of it, but when I was later told about it, all I said was "Cool!".

Okay.. time to get back to work!
