Morning, all!

Was going to do my long run this morning, but we are having some major rain this morning so I'm heading home from the shore, hitting the gym today, and then long run tomorrow. I love being able to rearrange my schedule since I'm not really working this summer. I don't mind running in the rain, but the roads here are pretty flooded, and running long in wet feet sloshing through puddles isn't so fun...

Huge congrats to Theia's DH, and I can't wait to hear reports about her first tri this evening!

Have a great vacation, GoV! And, good luck with orientation, Bard!
How ya feeling, Doc?

By the way, 2oh, how was LBI? Definitely let me know when you are headed back this way in August -- I'll make sure I'm here this time!!!

Sounds like fun weekends, Lori and Heather!

I'm going to get packed up and head home -- I'll check back later from soggy NJ...

So, I switched my plans around again this morning and decided to get my run done at the shore before heading home. The rain had stopped, but since the wind was still really strong, my dad dropped me off at the north end of the island so I could run back to their house with the wind off my right shoulder... sounds like a great plan...

It was. For the first two miles. Then it started to drizzle. Then I literally had to push myself around and off of the hood of a huge Mercury Mountaineer driven by a surfer kid on his cell phone barrelling off the beach and not looking as he pulled out onto the road. Then the rain started coming down in buckets. My dad finds me at mile 6ish and asks if I want a ride home. I let out a huge smile and said, No way! This is fun! By the time I finished the 10, it was sunny and I was soaked through. But I got it done.

QOD: I notice stride, clothes, effort level, eye contact... lots of stuff...

The north end of the island is waaaaaayyyyy boring to run... nothing there. But once you get into Surf City and the southern end, there's a lot going on. I do loops and parks and turns and twists when I'm at my house near Philly, so I do get that in my runs, but since I grew up on LBI, I'm very used to the long, straight runs there. I love that I don't have to stop at traffic lights every few blocks like I do at home. I usually end up seeing people I know along the way. I weirdly prefer doing my long runs there... We'll have to go for a run in August...
