Good morning, folks. Well, it's Monday again...

Big congrats to Mr Theia for another completed IM. Incredible stuff...

Last night, Maggie and I watched the move Saint Ralph. Has anyone else seen this? I had never even heard of it until my boss recommended it to me. And he's not even a runner...

It's about a 14-year old kid in the 1950s who's mother is in a coma, and he's told that it'll take "a miracle" to save her. Well, he decides that winning the Boston Marathon is the miracle that he needs. (Yeah, not just finishing it, but winning it).

It was a nice story. Maybe a little far-fetched. But it was enjoyable. And since there aren't too many running movies out there, I'm glad I saw it...

GoV, have a great time in Cabo. Everyone else... have fun at work...

Scratch, nice work on that PR this weekend!

I missed my PR in a 5k on Saturday by 30 seconds. But the Teterboro Airport 5k was fun anyway. Running on an airport runway is rather unique...

But I think I may have found the next place where I can attempt a new PR. There's a 5k a couple towns over from me on Wednesday evening. It's billed as the 6th ANNUAL DOWNTOWN WESTFIELD 5K ...AND PIZZA EXTRAVAGANZA.

Pizza? I'm there! It says they are expecting 2000 runners. For a 5K?? That's gonna be crowded. I don't think I've run a 5k with more than 1000 people, so double that should be interesting. Of course, that crowd might make it hard to PR. We shall see...

Umm, Wednesday happens to be Maggie's birthday. But she's gotta work late that night and probably won't be home until at least 8:30pm. It's not bad form for me to run the 5k at 7:00pm on her birthday then, is it?

You guys had better watch out. All this talk about triathalons has me thinking I might want to try it some day. Right now, I can't tell you the last time I swam anywhere. So if you guys get me to try a tri and I drown during the first leg, my death will be on your hands!

Hey, what's the latest with Philly? What's the head count up to? I've officially registered, but I haven't booked any accommodations yet. Maggie has decided not to join me (it'll be the first marathon that she won't attend with me) since our daughter will be about a month old at the time, and travelling with an infant might be annoying. So I'll be solo. And since I'm a cheapskate, I don't relish the idea of paying for a hotel room for just myself. Anyone want to split a room somewhere in downtown Philly?

Frankie, how many nights will you be staying in Philly? I will probably only be there one night (Saturday). All this can get worked out in time...

QOD: Like many others, I tend to notice someone's speed first. And if someone is going faster than me, I am likely to try and pick up my pace if I can...

L.A. Marathon, Mar 2
ING Georgia Marathon, Mar 30
Salt Lake City Marathon, Apr 19
Boston Marathon, Apr 21
Country Music Marathon, Apr 26
Green Bay Marathon, May 18
Fargo Marathon, May 19

Anyone have any comments on any of these?

You know what... Maybe the idea of Spring '08 marathons deserves its own thread. There's always so much bibble babble going on here in the daily thread, and this is a topic that's looking so far into the future. I'm sure it'll take many many days to get everyone's opinions on a possible 30s meet-up for next spring, so maybe it'd best to keep all those posts in one place. I'll start a new thread...

Flem, yes, I probably should've included an Alabama one, eh? After all, Alabama was the genesis of our current fascination with random...

I guess I tried to keep my list to things that weren't random; i.e. places that I thought a lot of people could be convinced to go. Would a lot of 30s be willing to go to Alabama? Hmmm, maybe. I don't know. If you want, suggest it on the thread I started, and I'll add it to my list...

I just came back from a run as well. It's rather crappy outside, so I went on the TM a the Y. I did a fairly east 4 miles at an 8:55 pace. I felt like going a bit faster, but if I'm gonna be running a 5k race on Wednesday, I figured I'd better not. I'll probably rest tomorrow. Maybe do an east bike ride. We'll see...

Voo, glad to hear you didn't puke...

By the way, Nettie, I meant to ask you about this post. (You've probably talked about this a million times, but I haven't caught it). I take it from your response here -- especially the "done that state" part -- that you're shooting for the 50 state thing. Is that right? How many do you have now? What marathon have you done in Wisconsin?

Yeah yeah yeah. If I weren't doing 2 races in 4 days, I probably would've run outside. But I didn't want to risk slippin' and slidin' around.

Meh. I guess this is just further proof that I'm only half the man you are, Maria.
