Mornin' all!!

Stuck at work all night. Such is the life of a schlub (sp?) who is going on vacation. Yep. You heard me. Tuesday - at the crack of dawn - we are catching a flight to Cabo. Of course, they are predicting clouds and isolated T-storms for the first 3 days we are there. too bad. I am having fun, and no one is stopping me.

While the scanner was doing its thing (I am taking a couple of files with me - on a flash drive), I was able to catch up on a few of the threads. You folks are a chatty crowd these days.

Hope all your races went well this weekend. I will follow the thread for a little while - assuming there are replies at this GAWDAWFUL time of day, then will try to check in again tonite.

Be well!!

Morning Gov!

Glad you are able to get away, even if you're taking work with you to CABO! Be careful who you share that informatin with, I'm fairly certain that is illegal in Cabo.
I hope you have a fantastic time with loads of umbrella drinks and questions like "what time is it?" and "what day is it".. ENJOY!

I'm looking at a mid-day workout and happy about it. The weather here has decided to beautiful and I'm going to take advantage of it. Yay!

THat is all for me.

Great Mondays and runs to all of you.

Jen
Does Cabo have the what happens there stays there rule, Gov?

I'm liking this weather too now, Jen, although I hit snooze 8 times before finally rolling out of bed today. It sure is nice when in summer you can have a window open and be comfortable under a light blanket.
Good morning, folks. Well, it's Monday again...

Big congrats to Mr Theia for another completed IM. Incredible stuff...

Last night, Maggie and I watched the move Saint Ralph. Has anyone else seen this? I had never even heard of it until my boss recommended it to me. And he's not even a runner...

It's about a 14-year old kid in the 1950s who's mother is in a coma, and he's told that it'll take "a miracle" to save her. Well, he decides that winning the Boston Marathon is the miracle that he needs. (Yeah, not just finishing it, but winning it).

It was a nice story. Maybe a little far-fetched. But it was enjoyable. And since there aren't too many running movies out there, I'm glad I saw it...

GoV, have a great time in Cabo. Everyone else... have fun at work...

Good morning!

I am fairly certain I won't be back much (if at all) until late this evening so figured I'd better get my post in now. This week is the absolute busiest week of my year, even worse than the 1st week of classes during Autumn quarter. That's because for the next 4 days, we have 80+ students coming for Orientation, and there is a lot of prep work involved each day. Plus I give the presentation, we help them schedule, I stay late to enter schedules into the computer, etc etc etc.

BUT, I have 3 miles on my schedule, which should be doable even though I'll be wiped out by the end of the day. My gym bag is in the corner of my office even now.

GoV- enjoy Cabo! Oh, and your calendar submissions were fabulous, but ya know... we 30's wimmins wouldn't object to a shirtless one taken on your vacation this week.

Good luck today on your race, Theia! and Congrats to Mr. Theia!
Morning all!

Here is the link for Alan Webb's AR mile.
http://www.flocasts.com/flotrack/cov...p?c=69&id=4455

Meanwhile, I think I may have set an AR in sitting on my ass yesterday....shoulder is still freaking sore.

Gov - at work all night? Dude, can you seriously get anything done at 3am?

Good runs all...
Hey folks! Happy Monday, if there is such a thing!

So after a busy/lazy week last week I logged some awesome weekend workouts and am back on track for some good stuff this week. Nice!!

I doubt there is any way I can catch up on weekend stuff but would lvoe to know how you did Scratch!!! I didn' tmake it to the race (obviously). Hit a spin class instead and then spent the afternoon visiting with my uncle.

All in all had a really fun weekend! DH and I went to a bar near out house Sat night, drank some beers (had a few Blue Moons since they were on my assignment list!) and watched the fights. Philly boy won the main event and even though I was pulling for him, I think he stole it!

Yesterday I spent 7 hours at DH's baseball games, he plays in a mens league and they had a double header. I got some sun and embarassed them with my ridiculous cheers!

I guess that is it. GoV have a fabulous vaca! WIll check back in later for a QOD and stuff!!!

Hiya 30s!

What tri is Alexis doing??? I can't imagine which one it would be on a Monday. Go Alexis! (Are we placing bets that she'll take home an AG award? )

I spent 5+ hours in the costume closet yesterday and did not get in my run. I was so fried when I got home, I ate dinner and went to bed at 8:30.

I can't believe I let Nettie post that pic on Sat...and I wasn't even drinking.

(I went and found the blushing smilie, dammit.)

I called in today...I have to go the dr for a little something (nothing serious) and then I need to get to work on altering a dress for Big Mama. It'll work if I do it right...now I just have to figure out what that means.

Congrats, long runners yesterday! Shout out to Michelle on your first 10 miler! I've done just a few of those but I was so proud of myself the first time (and every time)!

OH! I'm going to see the White Stripes tonight...my parents are cool, they got me the tix for my birthday (which is actually Friday).

I'll check in later...

Hey everyone, quick post for me. Must get back to reading Harry Potter and pretending to work.

Had a great weekend. My mom's 60th b'day was on Sunday so I planned a full day of her favorite things on Saturday. We went to the Lehigh Valley Zoo with DD in the morning, then had lunch then dropped DD off and went to see Harry Potter. Came back and my dad was at our house and we headed to town to the Scottish Pub for dinner. I did 2.5 miles before she came over just to see how my foot is feeling since the cortizone shot.

Sunday I did 10.25 with my friend and then we took the kids and headed to the pool for the day. Sunburn behind your knees hurts. (That's what I get for laying on the blanket reading Harry Potter most of the time.)

Rest day today.

Congrats to all our racers this weekend, I'm really out of the loop so I don't know who you are. Way to go to Andrew for finishing yet another IM and good luck to Theia on her first tri!

Shout outs to all of you!

Ciao.

Morning. I got home a little after midnight from my weekend trip to Boston. It was a wonderful trip, including a lovely Saturday morning run and breakfast with Auntie Moe. By the way, she was a complete hit with all of my friends and they were quite disappointed when she called to say she couldn't join us for dinner. All in all a great trip, but I could use a day off to rest!

I have a few things I have to do today, then I will try to catch up on all the fun I've missed! Hope everyone is well!

Hey Lori. It was a beautiful day for running and the easiest way for you to catch up on how I did is to read my race report.
Hey Scratch!! Thanks for the link! You rocked it, so awesome!!!! Sorry i didn't make it down there, woke up early and figured I would just lay down for another minute...woke up at 8!! My friends both PRed too, soo all in all, perfect race day,huh?!
Morning, all!

Was going to do my long run this morning, but we are having some major rain this morning so I'm heading home from the shore, hitting the gym today, and then long run tomorrow. I love being able to rearrange my schedule since I'm not really working this summer. I don't mind running in the rain, but the roads here are pretty flooded, and running long in wet feet sloshing through puddles isn't so fun...

Huge congrats to Theia's DH, and I can't wait to hear reports about her first tri this evening!

Have a great vacation, GoV! And, good luck with orientation, Bard!
How ya feeling, Doc?

By the way, 2oh, how was LBI? Definitely let me know when you are headed back this way in August -- I'll make sure I'm here this time!!!

Sounds like fun weekends, Lori and Heather!

I'm going to get packed up and head home -- I'll check back later from soggy NJ...

Good morning everyone.

Sort of weird weekend, wasn't on to post much. If I get bored at work I might try to read up and see what you folkez was doing.

Thought I might have had a car repair issue but it has been resolved thankfully.

My parents are getting a new puppy today and I might be more fired up than they are lol. I love dogs. I am very glad they are getting him because it will be so good for my mother. She's been sick for so long and a pet dog has always seemed to lift her spirits. Their last dog died several years ago. I also think my dad likes their pet dogs more than he lets on.

I might go see the new "family member" this afternoon after work.

Check you all later.
Top O' The Morning To You!

I'm not sure why we're getting such great weather in July, but I'll take it! Another 55-60F morning here, great 5 miles in already. Feel like I'm finally over the cold and can get back in a groove - hopefully.

Theia - congrats to your DH, and can't wait to see what kind of hardware you come home with today!

Heather - 1) ouch - sunburn behind your knees! 2) you're not finished with the book yet?

Kris may you retain your sanity with orientation...who are worse though the kids or the helicopter parents?

Saint Ralph - loved it. Far-fetched yes, but still great story.

Have a meeting today but I'll be back to check on the QOD.

good Monday to everyone.
Thanks, solar. My shoulder sucks. I got into some extra-curriculars last night that were probably on the "not-a-good-idea" list. I have a hard time staying away from that list.

Good luck bard! I didn't comment earlier, but your before and after pics are remarkable! You grabbed your life by the horns sister! Good for you!

Theia must be done by now!
Scratch, nice work on that PR this weekend!

I missed my PR in a 5k on Saturday by 30 seconds. But the Teterboro Airport 5k was fun anyway. Running on an airport runway is rather unique...

But I think I may have found the next place where I can attempt a new PR. There's a 5k a couple towns over from me on Wednesday evening. It's billed as the 6th ANNUAL DOWNTOWN WESTFIELD 5K ...AND PIZZA EXTRAVAGANZA.

Pizza? I'm there! It says they are expecting 2000 runners. For a 5K?? That's gonna be crowded. I don't think I've run a 5k with more than 1000 people, so double that should be interesting. Of course, that crowd might make it hard to PR. We shall see...

Umm, Wednesday happens to be Maggie's birthday. But she's gotta work late that night and probably won't be home until at least 8:30pm. It's not bad form for me to run the 5k at 7:00pm on her birthday then, is it?
So I got in 6 recovery yesterday in the heat. It wasn't bad at all. Legs felt fine although tired. I did almost throw up.....not sure what that was all about as I didn't feel sick at all. hmm.... got in 10 this morning. First half was slow and then finally I was in the 9s. It was a soupy run though which probably contributed to my labored breathing.

Re: Tris - When I was home at my parents there was an article about a local kid who just finished an Iron Man. He had an accident on the bike at about the half way mark and broke his collarbone. He still finished the race. WOW
Sometimes it seems like my daily life is a grind of data accumulation in particular due to the need to control my blood sugars. But using the 5Ks I've done so far since returning to running on April 21st, here's how I've progressed with estimated VO2max:

* May 5th, 37:35, VO2Max: 23.4
* May 20th, 35:37, VO2Max: 25
* June 16th, 34:28, VO2Max: 26.1
* July 4th, 32:00, VO2Max: 28.5
* July 21st, 29:35, VO2Max: 31.3

So that’s about a 30% improvement in my ability to take in oxygen and use it in about 2.5 months. That’s fairly significant improvement which has happened over 115.5 miles and 23 hours 56 minutes. I suppose it also goes to show how bad I was aerobically to start out, but I’ve made the commitment to getting better and now we can see a lot of progress.
Pizza! You so have to do that one. But yeah, 2000 runners sure could clog up the start.
