Hi Bob! Hi Everyone!

I ran 2 pretty east last night. I like running with Penny, but it was hot and the poor girl just did not want to run. Good thing she's basically walking fast when I'm running. But we stopped at 3 faucets in the cemetery so she coould drink (and stick her head under the water trying to figure out how to drink. She's a dork...Rosie was much smarter, dear girl.)

I was thinking about running this morning, but time has gotten away from me, so I won't. I'm going to the Sox game tonight, so I won't have time when I get home. It's ok, I'm well within my sched for the week and I'm actually ahead by a half mile! (woohoo! a half mile! )

I'm walking tomw with my friend Dave, probably 8-10 miles, and LR Sun (3). I'm feeling good about running again. Cross you fingers for me.

I am so glad it's Friday. And I found out last night that my mother changed her birthday plans, so I won't be spending Sun with my parents (they're going away.) I'm happy that I'll have the day at home.

So, I have a qod...in light of recent discussion...what's your type? If you're in a relationship, does your SO fall into it? Feel free to override if someone comes up with something better....

I'll be back to answer later.

Gotta get ready for work.

Nothing real exciting going on here today. I'm spending the day packing. Tomorrow we're heading to Maine. No internet access at the cabin so I'll be out of touch until Thursday.

My training plan calls for a 5K race today. Since there isn't one in my area tonight I'll be holding my own race this afternoon in my neighborhood. I:m guaranteed a win since I'll be the only one racing in it.

Have a great weekend and a great next weekend.

See you all in a few days.
I didn't get up to run like I wanted. I woke up, but I was just too sleepy. It's ok, since I've already got plans to go to body pump with a friend (sort of like a group weight training class, folks! I know that sounds very Friday!!!) so I will just run on the TM after, I guess.

Have fun at the cabin, LL!

Maureen- it's great to hear you saying that you're happy about your running again! Enjoy your day at home on Sunday.

QOD: Hmmm.. physically, not too "beefy", love blue eyes/blond hair (though brown is nice too!) But he's gotta be intelligent. Needs to be able to keep up a conversation, challenge my thinking, but be willing to listen, too! Oh, and he has to have a taste for good beer. No Budweiser/Miller in my house!! And iron, do the dishes, vacuum, clean the bathroom...

TGI Freaking F!!
What the frig???
My tabbies all just shut down.

Review.... going to doc to day about see about possible pf (dammit, i know she's going to tell me to get fitted for shoes....) and my recent loss of parts of my toe. Dude. Sometimes Im an idiot.

Teacher mtg yesterday. I was only one of 3 teachers who wore jeans. I still wore a little satin blouse and knock out sandals and brought my A game but still.... dress clothes to a teacher meeting seems odd to me.
Wearing them again today as I've got to get some shizzle done in my room if I can. Last I heard it still didn't have a ceiling or floor.

um... let's see. good sense of humor. must understand (or at least enjoy) my particular brand of crazy. when i was 'dating' if you rolled up to my house and didn't open my car door, i woulda turned around and walked back into my house. not a social pig (ie no sexist, no classist, no homophobes, obviously a racist wouldn't be interested in me in the first damn place).
these are first and foremost.
i like a man who keeps his beard and his hair edged up (locks are cool if they're good ones). have a weakness for a man in Dickies and a wife beater and Tims. oh sweet jesus. broad shoulders. smellin' good. oh. and if you can dance. that's great. with the exception of my partner, all the guys i've ever dated can dance.
with that.... no. he's not my 'type' really at all. he goes to see Julie instead of a barber. He didn't believe that men had their barbers do their beard. he doesn't know what edged up is, and he doesn't have it done every payday like the men in my family. In fact, he had long hair and a beat whip when i started dating him. (my other boyfriends had low riders....) He just now wears Tims (but his jeans are always neatly outside of them *sigh*) and Karl Kani/Ecco/South Pole/Sean John/Rocca since I buy them for him, but we have to talk all the time about why you can't shrink them or you look like a busta. Also, he doesn't understand about starching your pants. And I regularly have to translate for him even after 14+ years.
On more than one occasion my friends have met him and said, "really?" or "no. stop lyin..."
He also has NO tattoos. My my tattoo artist is his best friend.
That said, he's got all the inside, prerequisites and he's pretty fine in a seattle boy kind of way and isn't scared to let me dress him or go to Union Station or Q-bar with our friends.... so yeah. I guess he's my type.
Still not fully awake nor are all my eggs unscrambled. Watched Pan's Labyrinth last night and that was a terrific movie. I'm going to have to watch it again, even if the ending just about rips my heart out.
Morning all...2 miles pretty east this morning....

Type? Hmmm...Physically, redhead, tall-ish (5'7" -- 5'10", leggy with tight abs, eyes don't matter so much, but blue and green are preferred...I'd love it if she liked sports, hiking, traveling and playing golf...Running would be a bonus. Must be a liberal-minded person (i.e., not vote Republican for much of anything), and cannot be discriminatory in any way.

As for my wife of 10+ years....She has dark hair and blue eyes, she's 5'7", enjoys shopping, doesn't like sports, won't run and hasn't set foot on a golf course. We do travel quite a bit, though. Politically and "thought wise" she's right up my alley...So, give her a 7 on a 10-point "match scale". I guess she's a keeper.

When did we get a "sub forum"?
Moe - Glad you are enjoying running again. Just wait til autumn.

Larry - kick ass in your race this afternoon. Where in Maine are you heading?

Much like Tim1 and EQ last night, my run this AM was brutacular. Woke up crazy early to get in 14. From the start, I knew it was not gonna be fun. Humidity is back up, and it was already in the 70s when I started. Ended up cutting it short to 12 M. Best thing I can say about it is that it is done.

Last Saturday, and last Tuesday, I ran 14.5 and 9, and felt like they were two of the best runs I have ever had. Both were cool with low humidity. Since, I have bagged a short run, and cut a LR by 2 miles. Grf.

QOD - umm - someone willing to spend time with me. Kinda pathetic, I know.
Day 6 of the termite damage....now we're in a battle of wills with Home Depot re: the entry and storm doors they installed (in wood that was clearly rotten / termite riddled). Ah, next house will be brick. I'd rather repoint brick than deal with termites, moisture, scraping, sanding, priming, painting, etc.

Running on the tmill tonight and rest day tomorrow.

moe...I'm jealous that you have such a great running partner. Odin, while likes to trot along next to me, cannot do so b/c of cervical instability issues. Vet said that getting a 2nd dog would not be fair to Odin b/c he really cannot play w/ a puppy the way that he'd want to w/o making his issues worse. P.S. Good luck on your long walk this weekend.

Baptism this weekend for newest niece - fun stuff.

qod...I don't have a particular type. Seems like I've dated every type at some point. Will elaborate later.

Happy Friday, all!
Looking forward to camping this weekend with my mom and our friend Shirley. Shirley is more like another older sister in our family than just a regular family friend. She comes to all our family holidays and occasions and spoils my nieces and nephews rotten.

QOD- funny, I literally was thinking about this on my way to the office today. I tend to fall for the engineering/computer geeks. More specifically, I like:
*brainy guys who aren't egotistical
*guys who can appreciate and love the fact that I have a brain too, not just accept it
*guys who don't have rigid gender role expectations and otherwise are not sexist/racist/homophobic/etc
*guys who can have genuine friendships with women and are not threatened by my friendships with men. I don't do the jealousy thing.
*guys who can make me laugh
*guys who are attracted to women who have real curves and squishy bits.
Physically, I've been attracted to men of all races and physical types. Age range goes from about 30-40 (I'm 34) but I'd consider guys outside that range too.

Gee, this sounds like a personals ad, doesn't it?
G'day folks. Last day of work for me for 2 weeks. Heading to Vancouver Island for most of that time and will come back when the fun coupons run out. Here's a thread from the PRT with how I spent my evening last night for you 30 something folks who don't venture past this thread. Warning gratuitous animal pictures.
http://host95.hrwebservices.net/~kic...ead.php?t=9527
Easy 6+ this morning. My left calf has flared up a bit, so I cut the run a little short and hit the ice last night and this morning. Not quite sure why this one is hurting but I will try to get it settled down.

Racing this 5k tomorrow. As I remember from last year, it's a nice course, pretty flat. The weather looks OK too. Last year I won my ag and got a peach pie. Mmmm...

So if the calf holds up OK the plan is to run it hard and see what happens. I have not run 5k pace since the 4th of July so it will be interesting to see if the mileage since then has made me faster or slower at this distance. (My guess, slightly slower) Also not sure who will be there to race against. I will guess low 17s but run hard and see what happens.

Anybody else racing?

katholeenie - good luck with the work situation

larry - I too am confident in your victory tonight! Have fun at the cabin.

QOD - I like pina coladas. I like walks in the rain. Theia, does that get me back into the club?
Sorry, Auntie Moe, but you get the award for most unintentionally funny post.

Not sure what is on tap for me today, but it promises to be a great weekend, with humidity levels finally dropping and temps in the 70s. I plan to do loads of outdoor stuff, both with the kids and without.

The Dog Pee Catching story last night reminded me of when DD was 3 and her pediatrician wanted to do a urinalysis as part of her regular check up. We got the little cup to take home. DH was home with her the next day and said, "Macy, I need you to pee in this cup." She looked at him like he had 3 heads, and he tried to explain why and how. Finally he said, "It might even be fun." And she just shook her head and said, "No thank you, Daddy. I don't think I want to have fun with that." We never did get that set of tests run.

QOD: Dry sense of humor is a must. I have to say, though, that DH's is so dry that sometimes even I don't know when he is kidding. Smart and kind and all that. I've tended to date guys with dark hair/eyes, and DH fits that. I finally saw a picture of his ex-wife a few months ago, and no one can accuse him of sticking to type. Other than she and I being around the same height, there's nothing we had in common, looks-wise.

Have to run. Back later!
I survived Kenny Chesney last night - the music was OK, not really my type and I didn't know many (if any!) of the songs...same with Sugarland. Lots of "element" at the concert though - we had some rain before but it was a pretty decent evening. No major stories to report other than this: We went with some friends who are like us - mid 30's, professional, pretty straight laced. They had some other friends who also looked the part. Well, after the music started, we of course smelled loads of pot, saw people trashed and stumbling about...but we only saw 1 person get kicked out and it was our friend's other friend! Apparently he had whizzed in some bushes and an older security guy (not beefy at all) told him to say goodbye to his friends because he was being removed. This guy Brad was sober as far as I could tell and he didn't think to lose the security guard in the crowd so he came back to where we were, said goodbye to his wife, and was escorted out. His wife is apparently a big KC fan so she stayed the entire time and was pretty much like "Well, EFF him! He can wait for me since I have the car keys!"

Type? I picked my wife for breeding purposes and we have 2 beautiful little girls. I guess I owe it to her to keep her around despite not being blond, stacked, filthy rich, dumb as a box of rocks, and totally enamored of everything I say & do.
Yes, TimLH, my run last night deteriorated into a total survival run. Sorry that yours was the same.

LL - have a great trip. Will you get to run while you're up there?

Weather - we've had 10 consecutive days of 100+ degree weather and we might break the cycle today with a mere 98 for a high. We'll see. Some of the forecasters are in conflict with each other. One says we'll see 101.

I'll answer the QOD in a bit. I'm in a conf call now.
morning. I am tired. I slept horribly last night and therefore decided to bag the gym and run this morning for an hour more of shut eye...which has done me no good. I am crabby. Sigh.

QOD: My DH is my type. Cute, smart, a little bit dorky, good sense of humor and a liberal.
...in the VRAA world Plus I made it over the 1000 mile hump for '07 with yesterday's craptacular 11 miler. Whatever scheduling difficulties you might have with life stuff and running, don't go thinking that getting out for 12 mi at 4:00 p.m. on a 90* day in full sunshine is a good idea. Damn, that left a mark. Today is some east recovery miles, 5-6, that will likely be done on a TM @the gym location next door to my office.

Safe travels up north LLTravelBerg

Tim/Litch - I'm in the same boat as you - rocked my runs on Monday & Tuesday and could not have had a more SUCK run last night. Oh well.

Brandy & Nettie - um, hello... all you need for that swap is a little Weird Science. You know, bras on your heads, a pair of shorts, some DNA material from Brandy, various running ads, magazine shots of hot legs, etc. etc.

QOD - I don't know if I have a rigid type. I do know that making me laugh, being laid back and open-minded are KEY. If you can cook and enjoy running/playing sports - booyah! ...but if not, I may still keep you around. I'm loyal as all get out but if you lose my trust you might as well hit the road. Chiseled abs sure are nice but I haven't dated a dude yet that possesses them. I need someone that understands this and doesn't go all ape-shit jealous; I'm just oogling When it comes to intelligence and general thinking, I'm really into someone who has their shit together for themself and trusts that I do as well. I'm a big girl, I can handle all kinds of stuff.
