G'morning folks.

Thought I'd pop in, say hi, and get us started this morning. I've been a bit of a lurker over the past week or so.

No running to report. At. All. I decided to take a forced rest, to see if that would help the ankle any. Not a long rest, mind you.. only 10 days or so... and then I'll be participating in the Peachtree Road Race on July 4th. If the ankle feels even a smidgeon better... it may be that I just need more rest. If not, then I'm off to a bone scan two days later.

It's rather interesting. While I've mostly been doing "something" with the non-running time (weights / yoga), it still feels odd not to be running at all. I'm not quite sure what to make of it.

Onto other topics - I know that lots has happened since I last posted, and there's no way that I'd remember everyone's goings-on, so I'm going to offer a blanket "grats" to those meeting their goals, *hugs* to those on the DL list, and a "good luck!" to those with potential job promotions and such.

Gotta head to work.. will check in with you cats later.

Hey Alicat!

Amichel\Amy and KJ - big day for youse - kick ass. Wow, I can type ass here - happy Friday.

GoV - hoping things go the way that makes you happiest!!

The switch I think my biggest concern was already mentioned by Moon. There is a lot less traffic here, so the group may stagnate a little without new "blood". Of course, one of the reasons that the performance of this site is a bazillion times better is that it is handling far fewer people. If CR had only 100 or so people on it, it probably would not grind to a halt on a regular basis.

Happy Friday 30s! Woohoo! ccasion9:

Yeah, this does still feel a little weird, going somewhere else... but I'm sure we'll get used to it.

No run for me yesterday, but I got in a quick bike ride before the rains came. I've done a run or ride every day this week, so that's a good thing. I think I've finally gotten my fat ass back into a routine. Hopefully I can keep it up during the hot summer months.

Well, I hope everyone enjoys their Friday...

Hey Litchfield, thanks for the sentiment yesterday! I'm also glad to be able to get in here more regularly. You are right about there not being a lot of people on these forums yet, so the speed test is a little unbalanced. However, I do think that our thread will grow, just not as fast as at CR.

Morning Alicat! Hope you're able to do that run on the 4th; I'll be racing that day, too.

In actual exercise news: No run today, but I will be hitting the gym after work for some weight training. I just stopped being sore from Monday's weight routine yesterday. How pitiful!

Regarding the marathon girl skirt, I am only 5'2", so maybe I get more coverage than those of you that are taller, but as Theia so eloquently put it: It covers what it needs to cover. I do have a friend that is heavier and taller than I that wears the gym girls for running because they have the shorts underneath and offer more coverage. Has anyone checked out the skirts from Atalanta? Those look pretty cool, I might get one when I have some extra dough.

Who is Litchfield in your former life?? I can't keep track of everyone's new names. Thanks for the well wishes- I'm doing a last 45 mins of studying before I have to go in to work for a couple of hours and then the big test...I'll check in after.

Good morning!

The other message board that I frequent uses vBulletin too, so I'm familiar with the set-up here. I was happy enough w/ CR until it started really bogging down the past few weeks. I imagine I'll at least lurk over on CR still, but I agree this forum is easier to use so the majority of my posts will probably be here.

I do plan to keep my log at CR, unless they find a way to import it here. It has all my runs dating back to w1d1 on c25k. I got in 3.1 yesterday, and it went decently enough. Not too hot, though it was very muggy.

OK, I'll BBL....

Hi, all--

I'm on the slow side of the technological revolution, so excuse me if it takes a while to adjust to the new site.

I ran w6d3 today, and while it was only 53* when I started, I felt like I was going to die by the end. Perhaps that has something to do with the fact that I ran 30 secs faster per mile than Wednesday! I ran 2.03 miles (according to mapmyrun) in 25 minutes! If anyone's keeping track at home, that's 12:19 mm and a :38:10 5k. Yikes! I'm a little intimidated by the next 3 weeks of c25k (I like stopping to recover!), but I'm really stoked.

Good luck on job interviews, test-taking and life in general. And I can't wait to hear about Korbel's ring! I've got to live vicariously somehow.

Good runs today, everyone!

Tim I was thinking the same thing- the problem is the number of people on CR! It's too popular!! I don't think we'll stagnate here; in fact, I think a few KR 30's have already popped in to say hi....

Anywho, drinking a pre-run smoothie. Haven't had one of these since last summer when I got up to run in the morning! I'm going out for 3 miles on the greenway (can already feel the heat of the sun here in my apt. D'oh!) then meeting my friend in the parking lot to go for a walk! *Might* go do weights at the gym if we don't decide to go for coffee or something....

Ailarie- hope the ankle is just needing the rest.... I know that "so what do I do now that I'm not running" feeling! Keep busy...

Timr1- I think this got lost in all the shuffle yesterday, but that is GREAT NEWS about your MIL!! So glad that things have improved! Also glad that your heart thingy is better....

Ok, gotta scoot if I want to be sort of on time! Later folks......

Nettie has me covered (although not in a marathon skirt kinda way), but I modified my siggy to give a clue. Of course, I am now referring to myself in the 3rd person, which I hate. Open to suggestions.

Hi all -

Good luck KJ!!

The forum definitely gets easier to read after a day. Good deal...

I've got very little to say but hello and hope you all have good runs/good days!

I'm off to work. I've been in go mode for too many days in row now and I'm hoping work slacks off a bit. Or I do. I didn't get any running in yesterday so I'm hoping to get a few miles today.

Anyone going to check out the iphone tonight? I think I'll go to a nearby store to take a look. Good thing I had to shell out for a catalytic converter the other day, otherwise I might be tempted and make an impulse buy!

Good day to all!!

Your link seems to work, Tim. I can see your stats. So you weren't using CR to log?

The talk about running skirts reminded me of something (unrelated) from back in high school that one of my English teachers used to say... Whenever she would assign a report, it was inevitable that someone in the class would ask, "How long does it have to be?" To that, the teacher always replied, "It's the mini skirt theory. It has to be long enough to cover the subject, but short enough to be interesting".

Morning!

Off to swim and then maybe run afterwards. I know, I know, everyone is wondering when I'll get back to my kickass running routine. I am also wondering.

Good luck kj!

Hash weekend coming up. Hearing some stories from veterans. Quite...err...illuminating. Apparently the campground where this event is held is a naturist/pagan gathering place. That would definitely describe the Hashers.

Good runs all!

I have been using both, but the more I use runningahead, the more I like it. It is more customizable, can save actual running routes, etc. And the comments field does not get cut off at 250 characters, which is nice for race reports. You can add "Events", which I have started to do for fall races, because I do not know what my sched is for the fall yet. For example, For New Haven 20K, I can put that in my calendar as an event, with a link to the web site, time of the event, etc. This way, once my schedule for the fall firms up, I can just go to the calendar, and all the info is there in one place. it is also more flexible for interval workouts, not that I am doing a lot of that. Easiest to see rather than explain - see my calendar entry on 5/23/2007.

And similar to the differences between this forum and CR, there is active adminstration. They add features on a regular basis.

I do have old runs from 2004-2005 in the CR log, and have never exported\imported them to runningahead.

Looks like the boardswitch is going to happen, doesn't it? The CR boards had gotten too sucky lately, posting was a complete crapshoot although I must confess I hope this doesn't mean less of the BigGahoona's amazing typos and ambiguities.

All kinds of wet outside here this morning, but it's a good wet because of the cooler and eventually drier air coming in. Tomorrow will be a big run for me, it should go for nearly an hour and I'll break over 4 miles of distance on a run. I've been patient and working hard to get to that, and I wish it were tomorrow already.

Good Morning 30's!

What a spectacular morning! It's about 55 degrees here and not a cloud in the sky. Ran 4 glorious miles. Would have been five but my right hamstring was twitching large in mile four which has never happened to me before so I ended it at the end of mile four and came home and stretched. Not quite sure what to make of that.

I did have that 3rd glass of wine last night but it doesn't seem to be affecting me. I must be rebuilding my tolerance level. Now there's something to strive for! Brandy and Maria can increase their mileage - I will increase my tolerance! HAH! No actually, I'm going to decrease my alcohol intake while training for this marathon. There's just not enough time in the day to drink AND run. Unless you're DocChris. ccasion5:

When I first woke up my shoulders were SO sore and I thought my god, I must have been really tensing up during the tat-zapping last night but then I realized it must have been from yesterday mornings Power Yoga session.

Nettie, I'm only about 5'3", I guess that extra inch is on my ass. heh heh heh I said ass.

Awright people, have a GREAT FRIDAY allayouse! I'll check back for a QOD. First one on the new site??

Man, it's really hard to not start typing in the when I want to bold something. This is SO much easier!
