OK, since I've only gotten the green light for Boston effective 1 week ago, I'm not 100% sure on who is going to be there to run, jog, cheerlead (don't forget the trampolines!), blow the froth off a few coldies, or what-have-you. SO - I thought I'd start this up as a way to track who will be there, where they're staying, when they arrive, any meet-ups and the like.<br><br>
No flights booked yet, but I plan to arrive late Sat night, watch the Trials on Sun morning, get my bib and chillax the balance of the day on Sunday (unless i can score some Sox tix for me and a buddy). I'm planning to leave right after the race, so this will be a quick trip for me.<br><br>
I'm staying on Boylston St at the Charles Mark Hotel, sharing a room with a training buddy.<br><br>
I am RACING - planning to lay the wood to Mr. Lance Armstrong, unlike I did at NYC a few months ago. I've got a load of pals running on Monday but would like to try and connect with folks during the wait in Hopkinton if it works out.

Oh my word. I just realized that I fly out of Boston the day of the marathon, to present a paper at a conference in New Orleans. I had this sly post about how I am already here and will be staying at my house, etc, when I realized the sad truth.<br><br>
If there are folks coming in early, I'll be around. Wow, this sucks. <img alt="sad.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/sad.gif">

Yipee! I was hoping someone would start a thread like this!<br><br>
We are staying at the Park Plaza the 19th-22nd. Is anyone staying there, or near there???? Who can I meet? Fun!<br><br>
I totally overwhelmed by the idea of this trip, I have no idea what I'm getting myself into. I'm hoping there will other confused runners around as well or someone who has a clue to take me in under their wing.<br><br>
I guess I'll be starting in the 2nd wave<img alt="sad.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/sad.gif"> 'cuz my qualifying time was over 3:30.<br><br>
I am Racing, but unlike Pacer I don't plan to "lay the wood" to anyone, mostly because that sounds like a creepy guy thing<img alt="biggrin.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/biggrin.gif">.<br><br>
I've been working my butt off, so I hope to get a pretty new PR if the hills don't eat me alive first.

Jen... the Park Plaza is only a block or so from where the buses leave for Hopkinton. And maybe 2 or 3 blocks from the finish. That's as good a spot as any to stay.<br><br>
And... there's LOADS to do around there. Great area. We could definitely meet up somewhere close to there...

Top fun things we've done in the past in Boston (other than run till you puke!):<br>
Tour of Fenway/Red Sox game if you can get tix<br>
Duck Tour<br>
Kennedy Library<br><br>
HH is correct, there's tons to do. Get to the Expo on Sat if you'll be there so you can get it out of the way and get off your feet. And definitely enjoy the Trials on Sun.<br><br>
As for Monday, the whole thing is so well organized you won't have to think much, just follow people. Perhaps all of us running the race can swap cell #'s to try and connect in Hopkinton. I'll be hanging with a bunch of friends from here and on the pace team so the more the merrier. Plus you can get some tips from the Boston vets on the course.

I'm a <a href="http://www.hopkintonrespite.com/" target="_blank">'buy-in'</a> so I'm there.<br>
I'll be in Hopkinton Sunday night staying over. <b>Jen</b>, if you need a place to hang Monday AM (2 blocks from the start - house, bathroom, shower, food, etc), PM me. Athlete's village can be an atrosity if the weather is sour (like '07). <b>Pacer</b>, I assume you have plush Clif accomodations pre-race. <b>Baggs</b>? If not...the offer is extended.<br><br>
I'll have friends in from out of town, DW might be there and some running partners so post-race might be up for grabs. I'm going to try and connect w/some 30s wimmins coming into town (and those already in town) on Sat for a cocktail...after I hit registration and my obligatory pic-a-nic in Hopkinton...if interested. Plans aren't set yet, but keep the option in mind.

Nope - Clif doesn't do anything for us on this one, this is all on my dime. If the weather is indeed teh suck, I would love to invite myself. Where were you last year when I really needed somewhere dry to hang out?!<br><br>
But...Clif might be hosting another reception like we did last year. It was on Sunday in a hotel on Boylston. We gave some tips on the course, had some snacks and drinks, etc. for the folks on Clif's email list that had run with the pacers and qualified for Boston. If they do something similar, I'll be sure to let you guys know...if nothing else, you get some tips, some free snacks/drinks, and it's a place to meet up on Sunday.

WOOHOO!!!!!! I'm IN Boston and I'm hosting a bunch of the lovely 30s wimmins...and I plan to attend all the festivities! Plus, if anyone is interested, my show closes that Sat night. I know the ladies are coming (whether they want to or not) and it should be fun.<br><br>
I live at one end of the Orange Line, which will deposit us right at Back Bay Station. Jen, you are in a great location like Heater said, plus Pacer is staying just a few blocks from you as well.<br><br>
Let me know if any of you need help with plans in Boston. Like I said, I live in town, and have for almost 20 years. I can usually figure out where to get what you need.
