It's Independence Day, the 4th of July, for us Americans.

The wake up juice is still cooking. Gotta get all psyched up here. My blood sugar is in good shape, my legs are rested and should be stronger and faster than last time, time to lay down some smoking tread on the pavement at a 5K today. This could be interesting, I'm going to try to push myself harder and I also know from looking at the elevation profile there's going to be some uphill after the halfway point.

Those hills can't stop me. Unh unh.

Uuuggghh.. it is way too early in the morning for me to think of anything clever to say.

The ankle is feeling a little better, though I'm icing it now as a precaution.

I figure posting numbers will be low today, but I hope everyone has a happy and SAFE holiday.

Catch ya on the flip side.

That's the way I am right now. I'm getting the first cup of coffee in me, but even then it always takes a while before all the synapses connect and link up.

Why does you ankle continue to nag, Ailarie?

Chowing down on some cereal as I get ready for the race. I have everything laid out so it should just be a bit before I leave. I slept horribly- woke up several times during the night for no other reason than because I did.

I'm ready to run, though. Luckily the weather is wonderful!! I can't believe it- July in GA and we have good weather?!

Good luck to all the other racers this morning! Have a great holiday. I'll be in and out all day.....

Ciao bellas! Be good while I'm gone!

We're running out of months fellas (unless we can guilt T-Rev into sticking with the Boys of Boston layout)! Also, I have been told we must reserve a month for gov.

Morning cats and kittens (yeah, I miss Crane)

Good luck to you 4th of July Racers!
Beth, I feel you on the summer thing - July in NC isn't usually this pleasant, and I loooove it. It makes my puppy much easier to occupy when I'm not sweating like 10 whole women. (HI VJ! )

I'm thinking 'bout a yoga class this morning and a run a little later.
I'm trying to get into Yoga, I've only taken one class and while I wasn't wild about it, I felt 2 inches taller for a full day after. Weird, but kinda nice.

Good races and runs to all of you.

Good morning, and happy Independence Day to all! I have adopted a new avatar just for today...

Good luck to all our holiday racers. Should be fun.

It looks like today might be a great day for a bike ride. It's cloudy, but it's not supposed to rain until tonight. After my eensy weensy bout with skin cancer last year, I'm paranoid about spending too much time in the sun. So I feel much better being out there for multiple hours when it's cloudy. So my plan is to take my bike into Hoboken and then ride to the GWB and into Manhattan, and then just wander off in whatever direction my little heart desires. A few weeks ago I did this and rode 40 miles, which was my longest bike ride ever. I've got all day with nothing better to do, so I may try and top that today. We'll see how I feel.

Anyway, I hope y'all enjoy your holidays...

Happy 4th of July everyone.

I was going to go for a run and saw that it is raining. I'll wait to see if it clears or I may do the treadmill thing.

Good Luck to the racers today. The race I ran on the 4th last year isn't holding one this year, so I'll just bar-b-q with some friends.

Aha! There you are! Let's see if I can get myself aquainted with this new site...

Guess what I did yesterday! I RAN! I decided I felt good enough to give it a go. Started out with a 5 minute warm up walk. Then I alternated a minute of running with a minute of walking. Finished up with a 5 minute cool down walk. I used one of my nice and easy flat 5k routes, it took me 45 minutes (normally that'd take me 30). My tailbone area was sore, but not too bad. I honestly felt like I could have run a bit faster and longer! I'm hoping to get back out later for another one, as long as I'm not feeling too stiff!

Happy July 4 and good luck to all our racers today!

Happy 4th to all (even the non-Americans -- I hope you have a good 4th too!)!

Raining when I got up (late), but stopped and held off for my w7d2 run. 12:27 mm for 2.01 miles. I felt like I was going faster, but I kinda lost it at the end. Maybe it feels more natural and thus faster, even if it isn't.

I stumbled into a 5k (I think) at the end of my run. I caught the group that was walk/running and wasn't happy about it. B/c of the rain, there weren't a lot of supporters, so I lent my voice for a few minutes.

It doesn't look good for fireworks tonight, so maybe just a "picnic" with a bunch of Swedes. Not a bad way to spend the holiday.

Good luck, racers!

It's actually feeling like July up North. Sheeze Louise, I'm a bit pissed off right about now. Let me preface all that by saying I'm actually quite happy with how I ran, I ran faster and harder than ever before and will learn a lot from that, what I am pissed off about is the race organization.

Maybe I should have known things weren't all that well thought out when at registration I was told the only shirt size, for everyone, was extra large. Yeah, good thinking, that.

Later I go to use the park bathroom facilties. There were 2 stand up urinals and 2 sit down stalls. The sit down stalls were devoid of toilet paper. Good job! I don't know what the women's facilities were like, but the race start was delayed about 5 to 10 minutes so women who were registered to race could finish doing their duty.

Aye yi yi.

But the hugest insult was dealt to the mid-pack and later 5K racers. I'm watching my watch and I can tell I'm going to PR big time. Except when I get over the bridge into the park and I start looking for the finish chute, it's off to the left with a huge stacked up line of 5K racers waiting to walk under the finish banner.

I had to wait almost 5 minutes to reach the finish line, in the meantime getting to watch the clock tick past my best of 34:28.

I would have PR'ed today big time. I ran a great race for me, my effort level was much closer to being maxed this time. But the race organization of the finish screwed that up. I am a little bit pissed about that.

OK guys, I created a thread for the calendar: http://kickrunners.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6784

Thanks for changing your avatar to Josh, Trevor!

Have fun at the lake house PT. Where is it again?

Regarding Gov, Sierra, told ya so....and I volunteer to be his photographer for the shoot (I'll need assistants ladies)!

Great pictures of the kids, Flem!

It's overcast out but not raining right now. I'll get in a run at some point. I have to get to the grocery store to get some fruit for my sangria and I need to get some house stuff done before 4 but I'll squeeze some kind of run in.

Good luck to our races again!
