I haven't started a thread here yet and I haven't started one at all in a long long time...

I'm up early and I'm going for my run now. I'm just not getting in my runs and I'm hoping this will work. I've dropped back into week 3 of my training (from what should be the start of week 6--this training takes me past 13 miles well before Philly...so I should be ok), and I'm hoping that a little focus and dedication will get me back to it. I did not run this weekend...I decided to just start fresh on Monday, and here we are.

Also, today's my anniversary. Wedding, not running. 13 years. Good lord, that's a long time. Nothing special planned; I have a tap lesson and a rehearsal tonight, so we'll just have to do something later in the week (if at all, I'm not big on anniversaries.)

I have more to say, but not if I want to get this run now. I'll be back later.

Good morning Moe, and all those who shall follow.

Of course, still no running for me. Worked on a landscaping project at home this weekend, and managed to tweak the ankle a little bit. Oof. Well, the initial "tweak" incident was last Wednesday, but working on the project through yesterday wasn't the most comfy of things. However, it's all done, and I'm happy with it. Radioyada was totally surprised when he came home from his trip and found what I'll call the "porch section" totally redone (Excluding the plant life, of course)...

Okies.. time to get some breakfast, and feed the hounds. Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!

Happy anniversary, Moe.

Sometimes I think I should alter up my schedule a bit so I run on Monday mornings, just to make Mondays a bit less like a Monday.

OK, I'm back! 1.45 in 18 mins or something...I just wore my watch to give me an idea, knowing I'd end up stopping a few times because neighbors with dogs wanted to say hello to me and Miss P (and I was fine with that), and she'd have to stop to do her business. So I was out longer...but roughly 18 mins. No walking either and I could have gone longer. Nothing like a 2 week break to make the legs fresh.

I'll really check in again later...I need to get ready for work. I'm sweating like 2.5 whole men...the run just wasn't long enough for more.

good morning 30-somethings.

I'm up and having a cup of tea.

Later today, I have to grocery shop and I have to cut the lawn. I have laundry to do too.

No run on the schedule for me today. Scheduled day off. That reminds me, I also have to figure out what I'm going to do with the 2 "mulligan" weeks I had built into my training program. For those of you familiar with the Pfitz/Douglas plans, I am on the 18-week/70-mile per week plan. Yesterday's run ended mesocycle #3. This is where the taper would normally start, but I'm still too far out to begin the taper.

Ailaire - Nice landscaping.

Auntie Moe - Happy anniversary!

ScratchType1 - Happy Monday!

Worth being a little tired and late for!

Happy Anniversary, Moe!!!!

Great job on the landscaping, Ailaire. We've been doing a lot of work in our front yard this summer.

G'morning, Equinox, Beth, Scratch and all that follow.

Was supposed to do 10 miles yesterday (longest run ever) and tanked at mile 4.

We had a some what crazy weekend. Began on Friday when we we're having a few rotten clapboards replaced and learned that we had termite damage - thru to the studs and window framing. Of course, nobody stocks the size / shape windows (yes, had to replace 2 windows) we had so we had to get square ones to replace the original-to-the-house octagon ones. So, a $260.00 job turned in to a $2,500.00 job. Ouch.

Happy Monday!

Moe – nice work on the fresh start and Happy Anniversary. And roar (that's for your avatar).

Ailaire – Nice work. I re-did my foundation landscaping in the front of my house this spring, and it worked out so well (looks 1000x neater), I may be redoing the foundation plantings in the back in the fall.

Beth - good luck on day #1.

Sara – sorry about the termite damage. Hopefully you got it all, and will not have to deal with it again.

4.5 miles (with some longer intervals thrown in). Had 6+ on the sched, but could not get out of bed. Very sleepy, weird dreams last night (and I never remember my dreams).

OK, I have whined about some of my running\scheduling woes here before, but here we go again. I have been planning on running a HM on Oct 7th. I had come up with a list of potential races, went over it with Mrs. Tim, and that is the one we choose. Well, now she has a class she wants to take for work (she is an OT, and has to take a certain amount of training every year to maintain her license). It is Oct 4-7 in Massachusetts. It is work related, so I can't bitch about it too much, but…. Time to find another HM.
Bay State half-marathon in Lowell, MA on Sunday, October 14th? Very flat course, and a ballpark stadium finish. Check it out at www.baystatemarathon.com

Good morning 30's!

Happy Anniversary Moe!

I haven't quite caught up on the weekend, but I see that congrats are due to Pacer and Duckie for their PRs. WTG, guys!

The landscaping looks great Ailarie. Take care of that ankle though.

Anyone see the Perseids last night? We tried, but they were pretty disappointing.

I'm about to go out for 8. I don't usually run on Mondays but I needed to add a day this week and next to get my mileage for the week in. I'm still kind of stiff from my Long/tempo run on Saturday (which was Teh Suck btw) so this should be interesting. The humidity has broke a bit, but it's hot out there now (78* at 6am yikes.)

Have a good day everyone! I'll be back later.

I was outside for about 20 mins, did not see a thing, although it was a spectacular star-gazing night.

EQ - I may look into Bay State. Saturday Oct 13 is a very busy day for us - my DD has a cheerleading competition, and Mrs Tim has a Fall Festival with her women's club, which is why Hartford is out. I am also looking at the Monson Memorial Classic on Nov 12. It is about and hour closer to me, and has a noon start.

Hello! The temps were cool and humidity low. NICE. Did 8 miles general aerobic with 8 x 100 meter strides in 1:11:26. Much faster than I have been running lately. It felt really good.

Got to the gym yesterday for weights and core. Also did 30 minutes (or 9.1 miles I think) on the bike. I was drenched at the end of it although my HR never got above 140. Hmpf

Crane - You will be happy to know that I did my part today on trail maintenance/safety. When coming up to lake harriet, I saw something big in the combined walking/biking path. At first I thought it was a bike helmet but as I got right up to it, I saw it was a big snapping turtle. Very dangerous for him (I assume it was a boy) and anyone else on the trail. So, I tried to move him, he lunged at me. Luckily two other runners were nice enough to help me move him off the path by use of a very large stick. Turtle was pissed off but better off in the long run. A biker could have killed him or been killed running into him. A runner could have not seen him and gotten a piece of his/her calf taken out.

Moe - 13 years? Congrats! DH and I are coming up on our 2nd.

Was still suffering a mac-n-cheese hangover from last night and didn't run this a.m. Planning approx. 10 easy miles tonight + a spin class - will likely make it a DU-type workout.

Happy Anniversary Maureen! And a belated one to T-Rev

EQ - what about repeating the last two weeks? They aren't the highest mileage weeks and they have a good deal of speed workouts too. Are you feeling beat up? If so, maybe a recovery week and then a repeat of one of the last two in meso #3.

Tim - that sux but isn't there something in Hartford the weekend after your planned HM? Also, the Staten Island HM (one of the grand prix series) is one of those weeks in October. I ran it last year and found it a decent course.

Great run Brandy!

Hi folks. Had a so-so weekend. Friday just chilled and cleaned house. Saturday did a 10M LR in 93 deg heat, wasn't that bad due to being breezy and I kept myself wetted down. (30-sumthin Tip of the Day: when running w/ a sports bottle of gatorade and 1 of water, pick the correct one to squirt on your head.) Then went home and continued stripping walllpaper in the kitchen. Sunday DW and I sang a duet at church during the morning service (1st in nearly 15 years of marriage). Then on the way home we stopped at Taco Bell to grab some drivethru for lunch. Our minivan died in the drivethru. So after pushing the mv to a parking spot and dining in w/ our food, I walked 5 blocks in 95 deg heat to a friend's house to get a ride to my car and shuttle the family back home. The rest of the afternoon was spent changing the battery, and now I probably need to take it in and get the alternator replaced (min $300). grr.

Perseids: I missed it. When I lived in MS, the one of the astronomy clubs would hold a star party that weekend. But I have now signed up for Sky and Telescope magazines e-mail alerts so I won't do that (miss a meteor shower) again.

And before you ask McTortle, forget vacuuming too. Vacuuming really sucks (pun intended).

runningInNYC - The legs are a bit tired. I have debated repeating the last two weeks of Mesocycle 3, especially since the VO2max session last week didn't go so hot (actually, it went too hot...about 90 degrees and humid). It's probably not a bad idea.

I'll base it on how I feel when I get up tomorrow and see how the legs feel.

She has a Comfort Food Book? Swoon. . .

Fine. Be that way. I'll just go find me someone else to be a wife.

I suppose we could consider actually hiring someone to clean. . .Do you think any of the housecleaning companies take payment in beer?

I'm back again. Sorry, I didn't post over the weekend and I had stuff to say. Plus, I only skimmed the weekend thread, and for some reason only two thing stuck with me: Beth asked about the concert (s-two actually) and BG had a bad run. So, blanket congrats to all runners and racers, and BG, sorry about your bad one.

About the shows: we went to see Black Crowes on Fri night at the ICON festival. Except for the overwheming scent of patchouli and the contact high, it was pretty good. I'm not a fan (I don't dislike them, I just don't know them), but Chris Robinson is an interesting performer. I liked him.
Sat, we went to see Muse. I'd won the tix on the radio. Again, not a huge fan, only knew (lots) of their music from the radio. Well, turns out I knew about 2/3 of the set (always a nice thing), but it almost didn't matter. The show was freakin' awesome!!!! If you can, go see them. Unbelievable. Best show I've seen in years. And that includes U2. (Sorry, Theia.) They started the show with JFK speaking and the quote displayed on their video display. I know they've done it at all the shows this tour, but that certainly was one way to win the hearts in Boston. I will definitely see them again.

I also got some of the sewing done for the show. I got the cowgirl vest done as well as most of one of the ballerina costumes. I'll post some pics when I take them.

I've been typing this for a half hour, so I don't know who's posted since then....
