Gobi - hope mrs G is doing better today and got some answers

Johnny - that trail run sounds fun.

OM - welcome home

19 miles getting 'er done in the hills. 70 degrees at the start and 60 at the finish. Started raining just as I finished and the lovely and gracious mrs ccrunner still was out for another 40 mins off/on rain and some gusty winds. 2:42:15 just running.

Shout outs to the rest of you. Have a good day.

Opie - look after yourself

MrsG is being referred to have her liver looked at amongst other things.

I got up at 3am to go to my race and then came straight home

Race went well, 1.58.35 ish 4 minutes better than last year. No idea on finish position .

So no sleep, bad food and a cold are perfect for racing :¬)

Ditto to everything KS said. I've got no mental energy for much more thinking. Relapse of the virus - feeling faint, queasy, weak in the knees this morning. Hope I feel better as the day goes on since I would still like to run if possible. Though it may be on the TM for safety again despite a gorgeous day outside. I'm in the added sitch of having my thyroid go hyper, so fatigue is NOT one of my symptoms.

Nice race Gobi. Hope they find what is ailing Mrs G.

You can have some of our rain John. We are looking at more flooding in our area.

I just got back from a great workout. It was my first speedwork since last weeks race and everything went as planned.

16 minute warmup followed by 2 minutes at 6:31 pace and 2 minutes recovery. I then did 8 X 3 minutes with 2 minute recovery at 8:00 pace. The fast parts started at 6:31 pace and worked down to 6:15 pace the last one. Since the workout was done at 2% incline, I basically avg 8 half mile repeats in 3:00. The last couple, when the pace got in the middle 2:50s, got pretty hard and I was just about all out the last one. I even had to take an extra 30 seconds recovery before starting it. I don't think I could have done another at that pace.

I ended up with 8.5 miles in 62 minutes to complete a 60 mile week.

The best part was no tightness in the hammie. My legs felt great the whole run.

Thanks for the well wishes and I should know something Monday but Mrs. G's liver problem sounds much more serious. Hope she's okay, Gobi and good racing as always, by the way.

Went with DW to the Y for cardio. Brutal wind out there and Paul was racing a 10k.

Anyways, after a high mileage week, the plan for this race was to run hard, not race it. The race was very crowded at the start, so it took until we turned directly into a strong North wind to get going. After turning North, my pace was higher than planned just to stay warm. We turned out of the wind around 3K and the course martial said I was in 25th place. With the wind no longer in my face (at my side now), I decided to go ahead and race. I spotted a runner in my AG about 100 meters ahead. We generally compete for 2nd or 3rd in our age group. I started to reel him in. At 7K, we turned South and had the wind at our backs, I passed him just before the 8K mark. The last 2K were sideways to the wind.

Got up at 6 to decide on today's activities. While torrential rains were predicted through the night and well into the morning, it was barely raining when I looked out into the backyard, so I figured "What the hay, lets go for it" During the 1.5hr drive to the trailhead, the rain steadily got worse...... pulled into the parking lot 15 minutes ahead of the assigned time for the 20K runners, and there were only two cars already there (the 40K run was scheduled to go out at 6am). Just when I was thinking that everyone had bailed, one car pulled in, shortly followed by another which had the group leader..... ultrarunner Monica Scholz, the current world record holder for the most 100 mile races in one year (25). Apparently the trail was so icy that the park staff asked the 40K group to go elsewhere, concerned that someone was going to break a leg and trigger a major rescue. Monica had moved the group to a nearby rail trail, so we followed her to join the rest of the gang. Despite the conditions (steady rain, wind and ice), I enjoyed every minute, as I wound up getting to run the first 7 miles with several of the top women in Canadian ultrarunning.... what a total thrill!! After that, the 40K group decided they'd all had enough, as did the only other 20K participant, so I ran the last 7 miles solo, soaked to the skin, but totally pumped by the company I had for the first bit. 14 slow, icy and soggy miles...... an epic run for sure!!!!

Oh yea, and I got my tomato seeds!!

Have a wonderful day, everyone!!

Hope MrsG finds the answers she needs to get well and stay welll.

You too Opie. and really hoping it's not a stress fx.

Nice hardware Paul! Sounds like some brutal weather out there today.

Just popping in to say hi and see what everyone is up to.

today was a non running day for me. Had my son's basketball playoffs, which they won both games today, so off to the championship game next Saturday. Coincides with a 5 mi race I have that morning, but obviously, being at my sons game is priority. So this will be my first DNS.

Been getting in some interval workouts this week that went well for me. Hoping the rain subsides a bit tomorrow so I can get in a long run.

have a good rest of the weekend everyone!

Nice long run KS.

congrats on the race effort Gobi......no sleep, bad food, & a cold just brings you down to the elite level...(((Mrs. G)))

Happy Feet...Where in the PNW did you find a "gorgeous day" today?? Been raining all day long here.

Great workout Rip....congrats on the 60 mile week.

Heme.......awesome run.....& with elites as well. Not to mention the seeds...... There was a little article on Monica Scholz in the new RW...mostly about how she duplicated her record of 25 100 mile ultras in a year.....says she tries to run 'em in 20 hours.

Congrats on the AG award Paul

I predict, you'll be feeling decent all month Baba

Hopin for good news Monday Opie.

Great rest day Mike

TW as the Easter Bunny....only thing better than finding 2 pair of running shoes would be finding the money you spent on them.

Aw suck it up Tamster & go run anyway....it's like 50°F out.

No running today...had to xtrain by working all day. As much as I enjoy running in the rain (as long as it's not freezing), I don't much like working in it. You can't see at all & you have to take all kinds of extra precautions to keep the electronic equipment from getting too wet. It's water resistant, not water proof...a fine line. Tomorrow I'll get up before dawn and try to get in a short 4 miler before going to work again. Next time I hope & hope for a big project, I'll add the qualifier "without an unrealistic deadline"

Good running to all
