Decided to flip today/tomorrow stuff around when I was awake at 4am and my calf was a little twingey after 2 days of quality running. Got to the pool by 5am, and had an awesome 2000yd, non-stop swim. It was smooth, I was comfortable, and with my new sportcount thingy I could let my mind wander instead of having to pay attention to what lap I was on. Good stuff.

But the pool was loaded with chemicals and my mouth was super dry by 300yds. My silver jewelry even got discolored. Eww.

Good morning!

I have been MIA lately, but mostly because of busy-ness. Today is the quality I should have done yesterday, but didn't realize my inhaler was out.

Beautiful sunrise here this morning - didn't see it on my run but colorful none the less!

6.5 crisp miles this morning with 3x1000m. Hit my pace on all three of them despite the hilly course I chose and how freaking windy it was...oh, and it was a balmy 19F when I left the house. Sofa king ready for spring.

Rest day for me too. I don't know why I bother to come in to work the days before a marathon - I am so distracted and all I do is keep checking the weather, keep adding to my packing list and keep daydreaming about the race!

Good luck to this weekend's racers.

I'm back ya'll. did you miss me? Just kidding. My legs and body are fighting my return to running after a week of skiing and a week of light running prior to that due to Mercedes Marathon recovery. But no rest for the weary. I have a 50K trail race coming up in a few weeks + a half marathon two weeks later + flying pig as my marathon goal race. Gues I should get registered for that one.

anyway, I ran 11 miles after work yesterday and bonked at about mile 8.5. Yuck. Gotta keep pushing the mileage anyway. Another 6 - 7 on tap today.

Morning all! I'm slugging through long work days and runs, just not feeling all that "up" and finding I need to try and snap out of it. I really wish someone would just slap me and tell me to get it together, I hate these blah feelings. Run on tap for this evening, of course I couldn't pull myself out of bed again. I suck.

Lora - great job at the pool!

Kev - nice stuff, wind makes you stronger!

morning

Ran 3 in FL in 75 degrees and then came home and ran 6 in MN at 15 degrees and WINDY. Ew. Got my butt up and did 3 this morning. I am happy to report after 5 days of vacation I was only up 0.1 lbs. :)

The race in FL didn't go all that great. I just suck in humidity and it was 70 at the start and nearly 100% humidity. I felt good through 9 when I turned around in the out and back section and the wind was behind me. I then started to overheat and had to back off the pace. Ended up with 2:03:19. I didn't realize it but I guess (according to tracking), I negatively split it. hmmm. Looking forward to my half this month and next for some sub 2s.

Brandy - sounds like Florida was fun. We definitely want to get down there for Twins spring training one of these years. Which HM are you doing this month? Are you doing Earth Day next month?
Flight leaves at 6:00 a.m. Saturday. I don't mind the early part, cuz then hopefully i'll be so tired that I'll have a decent sleep before the marathon.

Gonna head out for a walk at lunch today. Wish I had a hat and some shorts with me. Gonna be near 80 this afternoon. What we call winter weather out here is slowly going away. Im sure it wont be too long before its in the 90s and 100s :(

My Tour De Cure for Diabetes bike ride is a week from Saturday. Im looking foward to it. Its not too late if any of you want to make a donation to help me reach my goal. Let me know if you wanna help out.

Race Wardrobe question: Getting closer to race day, so weather report may be closer to accurate now. And I have to finish packing tomorrow. SO - I have a dilemma because the temps at start are cold, but warm up to average, so I'm on the fence about what to wear. Right now accuweather says start time will be 36, but with a real feel of 29 (10 mph wind), and by finish at noon it will be 47 with real feel of 51. I'm ok on the top with short sleeve and arm warmers. But on the fence about the bottoms. I'm thinking shorts, simply because I hate my capris - they are too tight - and my tights seem too warm for the predicted temps at end (though they are thin tights). But I'm worried about the legs being too cold and cramping up. Thoughts?? (Other than "Don't Stress", cause I'm not stressing, really, I'm just trying to plan!)

RFTL, I'm pretty sure I'll be wearing shorts. But that's mostly because my legs can always handle the cold better than the rest of me anyway. As you know, you'll feel warmer after you get started and get moving. So I think you really only need to pack something that makes you comfortable while you're standing around for half an hour or so before the start. That's what throwaway clothes are for. So I'd suggest you bring your oldest and rattiest pair of sweatpants, and dump them right before the gun goes off...
