Helllloooooo everyone!! Posting from Chicago Midway, while on a work conference call, and awaiting my flight to St. Louis. Cannot wait to be around my family for the entire coming week and attending the Cardinals home opener w/them on Thursday. Between this upcoming segment of my trip and the one that just ended (in Cleveland) I feel like one of the luckiest people around. The 50K was an unbelievable, awesome experience! The trails were challenging but fun and the weather could not have been better, high 30s and sunny w/little to no wind (although the volunteers undoubtedly felt different as they had to stand still - sorry but thank you all!). I seriously ran with a smile plastered on my face 90+% of the time or more. It was pure joy and such a different experience than a road race of marathon or other distance. The Northeast Ohio trail running community is amazing and so social and fun and giving. I instantly felt like one of the family and so very welcome. The course itself was gorgeous! A series of about 5 (maybe 6) trails all connected together in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park that made up a loop of 25K and so I ran it twice. The volunteers were superb and the course well marked as well as being an enjoyable mix of cross country trails, grassy trails, big climbs, big downs, and plenty of mud esp. the second time around the loop. My time was the absolute lowest of priorities to me, it meant absolutely nothing but it was 6:52. Despite the long hours on the course and the terrain I feel much less sore today than after a road marathon distance event, a little sore but not hobbling although sporting my compression socks on today's flights. My PF totally behaved as did my hammies, yay! Lloyd has set up a truly premiere race and I'd highly recommend it to anyone! Very organized, very fun and who wouldn't want a finisher mug crafted by our very own Kath!!??

Besides the race itself it was so wonderful to be able to spend time with Lloyd, Andrea, Kath and Kris - thank you all so much!

Lastly, it feels like this race, as I'd hoped it would, had injected some spirit back into my running that I'd love to parlay into a hard working spring and summer. I was looking at this race as a new experience w/out the pressures of past marathons and training cycles and it completely delivered! It didn't hurt that I felt the presence of Voo around me everywhere, I thought of him volunteering this race a few years back and running on the nearby "cushy" towpath.

Thank you all for your encouragement, inspiration and congratulations!!!
