Started my run at the usual 5:30 this morning and noticed it was noticeably more light when I finished 48 mins later.

Nice running Erika and Happyfeat

6 miles this morning and 6 more tonight

Temp 48 degrees and no wind. That's not cold but yesterday at same time we were running in 70 degrees and no wind so it "felt cold" to us S. Texans.

Nice run on dawn patrol, KS!

Erika - I've been noticing how well your running has been this year. You're looking so strong! You're gonna rawk that marathon this Spring. Reminds me of me about 3 yrs ago. Alas, I've lost about 20-30 sec/mile since then.

No, that was either a misprint or misread. I missed the BQ by 5 minutes (4 - if you allow me the 59 second grace period.) I ran the Hyannis Marathon on Cape Cod. Conditions were reasonable for winter, but could have been better (less windage in the 2nd half.) Somehow news about rolling registration for Boston took the pressure off. I knew going into it I wasn't going to beat the qualifying time by much, if at all.

Opie, you are handling this setback so much better than I could. I have to hand it to you. I hate crosstraining, but you with your yoga, biking, lifting, you'll come out of this stronger than before.

Yay, HappyFeat! Good run yesterday.

OM - good for you for listening to your body and taking a rest when it needs it. That's the difference between a newbie and an experienced runnah.

That said, I took a rest from running today and spent over an hour in the gym working my core and lower body. Will go MLR tomorrow.

Hey KS - also noticed the lighter mornings which is excellent as it will soon be warm enough to ride before 6am :¬)

Results from the weekend

19th overall, 3rd in my AG and auto qualification to the European and World duathlon Championships.

Sadly I am still struggling to shift the cold and MrsG is still up and down. I think it is bad for her as when she is fine she can train like normal so we make plans to do things and then at the last minute her body crashes again.

Doing our best.

Was sad to hear about the Elite Runner/Ironwoman who crossed the stop sign and was killed. Always sad when a promising young athlete.

Hello all! Just a quick fly-by to report my run... 10.12 miles which totally felt like a piece of cake! Sometimes those doctors do know what they're talking about, when they say to allow the body to heal from trauma... incision spots weren't sore and all systems were go. Onward and upward, my friends!

Hi K M G OM

My legs were creaking a little so I went easy today. I think it was really humid at the fitness center though as my heartrate spiked up

the last 15 minutes and I could have rung my shirt out. My legs could tell I was going easy though. 8.5 miles 68:54 2% incline

The last 3 or 4 days the treadmill I have been running on suddenly just speeds up between 54 and 56 minutes. At first I wasn't sure since I speed up as I go

but the last couple days I have been running a steady pace and all the sudden I am halfway back the treadmill. Of course I just run the faster pace until the hour ends

since it is so close. When I reset to finish the run it seems back at the proper pace. Really odd.

Nice run Erika. When you run easy, it is easier to run easy faster the next run!!

Gobi, I gave up biking on the roads a few years ago when half the people are on cellphones not paying attention. I read about too many people getting killed.

Stay safe.

Glad the run went well today, OM! Keeping good thoughts here for good news next week.

That is weird, Rip! I've had a TM suddenly turn off on me and plaster me against the control panel, but not speed up. As long as it doesn't slingshot you off the back!!

WTG on the AG hardware, Gobi! And the qualification for the du championships.

It's back raining heavily, so I decided to take it back indoors today. 4 mile on the work TM, with a few 1 minute pickups through miles 2 and 3 thrown in. I hesitate to call them intervals, but it was at least something to jolt me out of poky-slow mode.

Hi all....nice runs yesterday Happy Feat & Erika

Congrats Gobi......hope Mrs G improves

Nice 10 miler this AM OM......fingers crossed for good news next week.

I haven' t had the TM speed up on me either, but it's completely stopped a few times, once when some gym employee accidently pulled the plug.

Tamster....we can meet up sometime and run part of the Lower Rogue trail if you'd like, maybe when the rain stops, ......sometime I'd like to run the Bear Creek bike path from the dog park in Ashland to the fairgrounds. It's around 19 miles or so....when you get a little farther along in your marathon training.

Was going to run this morning, but I did something to my back yesterday working (like a pinched nerve) & it still hurt this AM, so I didn't. I hate not to take advantage of a day off and not get a run in, but there's always tomorrow.

Good running to all

TW, haven't they heard of Spring Break there? I agree with the concern about safety riding on the road. I made sure I had my blinkie on the back of my jacket. Got out my fancy new pump, got the tires up to 100 psi, and had a great ride! http://connect.garmin.com/activity/72340411

...the

problem is

this 2nd RunDay isn't going as easy as it should.

but

it's not hurting enough to stop doing it

I just need to mess around with it (of course MessingAround has a 7-day span)

The Theory

is to get my hips a BaseFitnessLevel to build on

this is

assuming

you can ''build'' on Arthritis
