Good morning all. This was one of those mornings that I was so tempted to snooze for that extra hour. But I went to the park and got my run completed. Then I did my ab workout once I got home. I don't feel the knee pain as much anymore. I think it was just my lazy arse body wimping out on me because I had not been physically active for so long.

I'm still adding 1/4 a mile each week until I get back to 3 miles per run. I'm almost there. Then I am going to repeat what worked in the past for me and start the one hour runner program.

Good on ya, Maples!

I did about 4 miles this morning. I wish I had more time to do a longer run but DH gets home from work shortly after 7 AM and I have to be out the door by 8:30 in order to get the girls dropped off and get to work on time. Ah well.

I'm heading into work at the store. Tonight's the group run, but since I'm working, I got 6 miles done early this morning, followed by some solid core work. Must.get.middle.toned.again.

Good Morning,

Spent some time playing with my son and then running around the park last night. Not sure how far. Hopefully I'll get a litte more structured tonight. I have a bet going with a friend of mine to see who can run the fastest 5K & 10K by this time next year. So, I need to formulate a plan for victory. We are both really slow, so this should be fun.

Good job getting out there everyone.

Me too. Uggg. Seems like it should be so easy to add in core work, but by the time I think of it, I'm usually too tired or else drinking beer and eating cookies.

Way to get out there Maples!

I got 8 miles done w/ 10 x 100m strides mixed in. So glad the heat/humidity calmed down a bit over night.

My gym bag is packed. I'm kind of hoping it isn't too gawdawful muggy today so I can run outside. I'm getting bored with running on the indoor track. However, as it was already hazy and foggy this morning, so my hopes may be in vain.

Good job getting those workout in early, folks!

I've had two days of fairly easy runs so far this week, so I want to get something tough in tonight. Either a long hill run or a long tempo run. I think I'm leaning towards the tempo run. We'll see...

Rest day for me - still trying to decide if I want to race this weekend (either 8 miles, or a 5K). At this point, leaning against it, because the races start at 9, and there is also a blood drive in town from 8 - noon. If I run the 8, it would definitely be cutting it close, and I have only donated blood 2 x since I moved to CT. When I loved in NJ, I would donate several times a year, because the donation center was open til 8:30 PM. Here in CT, the donation center is open til 5, and most of the blood drives end at 5 as well.

I got 4 in before work this morning. About 4 degrees cooler this a.m. than yesterday but still 96% humidity. Really liking this getting-the-run-done in the a.m. thing. I don't have to think about when and what I'm going to eat in the afternoon/evening and when/where I'm going to get my run in and the evening is totally free. I could get used to this.

Hm. Core work, eh? Haven't touched that since I was P90Xing. Though the Ab RipperX is only 15 minutes, I should be able to get that squeezed in here or there, right?

I finally got my compression socks. Got em in black because it's slimming. Heh, no, it was either black or white and white socks get gross looking fast, so I went with black. Very Orthopedic Grandpa looking. They're more comfortable and not as squishing as I thought they'd be. How long are you supposed to wear them after a run for recovery purposes? I still cannot imagine running in socks like this. I picture my calves melting like butter and pooling into my shoes.

6x800 Intervals tomorrow. I've been taking it really easy with the speedwork because it triggers that shin thing, but my legs have felt good lately so I'm going to give the intervals a more honest effort tomorrow. I don't think I'll want to jump into it FULL BLAST but I will give it more than I've been giving it.

OK Happy Humpday people! The weekend is just around the corner and I'm going camping - YAHOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

Today was supposed to be a rest day (step-back from not too many miles week), but I wanted to keep running 5 dpw and added a little 2 miler. I ran it on the new TM and it's going to take some getting used to. Even though I calibrated the TM, it's not right in the sense that I'm pushing the pace when I set the machine to a warm-up speed. So, what I concluded is that it will just look like I'm running more glacially than usual, but I really think I'm running further than the machine thinks I'm going so in the end I'll get the benefit of longer runs. Or that's what I'm telling myself. I also desperately need new shoes (ordered yesterday). I guess I just forgot to pay attention, and my knees are a little creaky.

Way to get out there this morning, folks, and good luck to those running later in the day. I would die.

I am incredibly jealous of all the early morning workouts. Both Monday and today, I set my alarm for 5 a.m. but reset it in the middle of the night because my sleep has been so spectacularly craptastic (Sunday night WITH Ambien, last night without). Then both days I've woken up feeling incredibly guilty for not getting to the pool.

However, I did have a great brick workout last night: 17 mile tempo ride followed by 1.35 miles in 10:29.

Morning. Day 2 of doing my RFTL impression. Met people at the lake, you know it's early when you can't park in the lot. There at 5:00, couldn't park till 6:00. Grrr. Did a solid, just under 10 miles. Good times. I just need to find where I misplaced my legs. The last couple runs have been tough.

Skipped the run last night. Way too hot and gross out.

Wow. I haven't been here in a long, long time... but I've been quietly lurking these last few weeks. I'm getting ready for St. George in October and I knew I'd find some inspiration here. It's great to see so many familiar names and faces!

I got in just over 6 miles this morning. A mix of some downhill repeats and 800s on the track. I've been running with a group for two months now and we've only been running 3 days a week. I'm looking for a way to add a 4th day or maybe start running twice one of those days we're already running.

Theia- Sorry to hear about these issues you are having. I had some surgery in February to "correct my female issues" and it did wonders for me. I went through months of what you are experiencing so I feel your pain.

Morning all! Been a crazy one thus far... woke up early enough to get a decent run in but not the one on the schedule so I pushed it to this evening. Will be something in the 10 mi neighborhood including 7 x 800 repeats.

What - isn't everyone on the Pfitzinger 70 (cookies)/18 (beers) plan right now?

Hi all. My ART practitioner really laid a smackdown on me yesterday, with maybe the most fun being the Vulcan neck pinch grip she clamped on my trapezius muscles while I tried to shrug my shoulders straight upward rather than back and up to loosen up that upper back area (I guess I never realized I do that until then.)

Another fun moment was laying on my side with my right leg on top extended as far forward as it could go to stretch out my hammy. She then asked me to lift it upward so so I can activate my TFL for she could work that. I looked at her and said, "Are you kidding?!" I couldn't make that leg budge one bit.

Everything feels better though, so I'll be out for a run today (somewhere between 8-10 mi)

Great runs already folks! Good job getting up and out there
