Probably - they usually just show 1 or 2 cursory barfs.....

The crew of contestants is pretty much white bread this time! The one black pair got sent away. Wonder if that will be a complaint for the masses on this season.

It doesn't appear that there are any crazies yet. I wonder what people who are choosen do with their eating habits RIGHT before they get on the show. Do they just eat normally or do they eat more to have a higher starting weight, do they actually monitor their food before that first weigh in....

I also really wonder why this season doesn`t have the hugely obese 450 and 500 lb contestants. Bob mentioned it a couple of times, how `small`this group is.

Dolvett seemed more mean this episode than in the past. Of course last year he was a mystery trainer for the first 2 or 3 weeks, so we didn`t really see him until he had developed a bond with his team.

I think they get a month to do as much as they can at home, then come back and they have a chance to get back on. DOn't know if that will just be a weigh in and biggest % loss gets it or if they have to do a challenge.

Did you all hear Bob or Dolvett say that they get free memberships to that fitness club that redid the BL gym? With free trainers and everything? That should help the at home people. Granted, they can't spend 8 hours a day working out, but still. Better than doing it completely by themselves.

Yeah, I thought I heard Allie say that if they lost 50 lbs combined they would get a chance to come back. I bet some of the people that get sent home, do work out for a lot of the day. If I had already taken 3 months off of work to be on Biggest Loser, and got sent home early, I sure as heck would try and spend that time in the gym.

Oh, right. She did say somthing about 50lbs.

Do you think they take the entire 3 months off if they get sent home? I guess I was assuming they'd [have to] go back to work (if they had a job) once they got home.

I think with how successful some of the people are between them getting eliminated and their "see me now" segment, they have to be working out a lot more than a normal person can with working, childcare, school etc. Especially since most are starting from absolute zero in how to work out and eat right. I'm sure a lot of them go back to work as well, but some must be working out like it is a job. Especially if their gym membership and trainers are paid for.

They mentioned that they get a free membership at Planet Fitness, which isn't all that much of a big deal.

First off, it's only $10/month. Secondly, they have trainers there, but I doubt that they're all that wonderful. Thirdly, there is a maximum weight limit for free weights at Planet Fitness. There's no basketball courts, swimming pools, or anything else but cardio equipment and weights (oh, also tanning booths). I know all this because I'm a member at a Planet Fitness, and also, I know the manager there very well, and he is constantly stymied by "corporate". he wants to add things, make his own (reasonable) rules, and he's not allowed to.

That having all been said, I'd bet that they are, if still on the show, allowed to go to a "special" Planet Fitness where they will get WAY more.

Second thing...I too wonder about the time between elimination and the "see me now" segment. If the guy eliminated last week has truly only lost 50 lbs between "then" and now, then, well, he didn't do very well at home (as compared to other people on the show, and, of course, people still on the ranch). I suspect the "see me now" clip was also recorded a long time ago.

Either that, or, some of this stuff is airing while the end is still taping, and, although that's certainly possible, I doubt that the "producers" would let that happen, because they like to trump up the drama and make up stories, and to not know all the info about how things play out is a liability when they're creating what we see on TV.

Just a guess, of course.

Well, one season the green team Jay went home and came back, so the "see me now" segment couldn't have been after all that much time. But then, I remember thinking he hadn't lost all that much weight in the "see me now" episode.

I'd really like to know how some of the bigger folks like Arthur and Shay from previous seasons are doing.

I follow Shay on Twitter. I think she may have gained some weight back but is still trying to motivate others.

I have a theory. Bob started doing Crossfit a few months ago at Brick CF in LA. According to him, he's Obsessed with it and tweeted that his team will be all about CF this season. He had lunch with Greg Glassman (the CF founder) the week before BL started.

That said, it makes sense that if he let the show know ahead of time that he was planning to do this, they would give him people that would be able to perform the movements with a lower amount of scaling than the body types they normally show on there. Also, the cardiovascular strength it takes to do a CF workout is much higher than what is required for cardio alone. So, I *think* they looked for overweight people with excuses that would be able to adjust to the intensity of the workouts within the show timeframes WITHOUT putting dangerous amounts of strain on their hearts.

*just a theory of mine.

Interesting theory. I wonder how long the lead time is on contestant selection. because if (and I have no idea) if Bob started his thing only 2 months ago, and the show started taping 3 months ago...who knows.

The contestants are definitely smaller this year...I mean, as compared to what they have had lately. That may also be due to view complaints. As I see it, some 500 pound person can lose some incredible amount of weight in the 18 weeks for the show, maybe even win, and STILL be way overweight.

I haven't watched BL in forever, but somehow got sucked into about 90 minutes of last night.

Bob is a huffy bitch. with fugly hair

That said, I'd heart to be butt-kicked by either trainer....love love love the cross fit type workouts they're doing.

No opinion on this season's fluffies, since I've not watched enough to know who they are.

carry on
