We're three weeks out from the 2011 Boston Marathon so I figured it was a good time to start pulling together plans.

I'll be arriving about noon on Saturday, April 16th. I figure it will take me till about 2 pm to get my bags, get downtown via the train and get checked into the Marriott. Is any interested in getting together for a late lunch or just a drink around 2 pm? I'll want to pick up my bib, but I have until 6 pm to do that.

And after the race I will be in my usual place, at MJ O'Connor's, which is the Irish Pub located on the ground floor of the Plaza Hotel. I can provide directions if anyone needs them.

The excitement is starting to build!

I'd be up for a bite to eat and something to drink on Saturday. A couple of years ago, we met at the expo and went to Bukowski's which is right down the street from the convention center.

I'll see you at MJ O'Connor's, too, but I won't be there until a few hours after you arrive.

Excitement! Yes!!!

I won't get in town until late on Sat. So Sat. meetup is out for me. I am up for a branch or lunch on Sun, though. Then after the race, I will swing by MJ, but again I am taking a flight coming home in the evening, so only a short period of time there. I am really REALLY hoping I can enjoy a glass of beer this time. Damn it.

AdCo and I are volunteering at the expo (merch sales) on Saturday AM, so we're probably up for a late lunchy get together.

I'm going to be spectating, probably around the 20 mile mark like last year, although this time without Cake to keep me company.

I will be at MJ O'Connors once AdCo passes me. :)

I will drink beers(plural) at MJs with y'all. It's a tradition now. Invited a few others too. Not sure yet on meeting beforehand. Will be in touch as time nears. No excitement for me just yet. Gotta get my calf healed first. Because if I can't run, I will not take the day off work, and so I would not be at MJs but would try to meet Satirday or Sunday.

You're not gonna wait for me? You're like the only person I know for sure will be out there! And I've been thinking about seeing you at ~20 mile mark every time I pass by it during my runs.

Hmm, Bukowski's was good. Sounding like 2 pm on Saturday may work for most folks.

Yoshiko - if you're interested in getting together on Sunday, I'm game. Got nothing going other than staying in the hotel room and keeping the feet up.

Thor - healing vibes headed your way man. Get well, hope to see you there.

Mike - not sure my plans yet. Bib pickup/expo with friends probably in the Sun morning and dinner with them. Will discuss more details as the race nears. Which hotel are you at? I am at Sheraton.

So, this is good news...

GRENADA, Spain(UPI) -- Researchers at Granada University in Spain said drinking beer after strenuous physical activity can be beneficial for the body.

The scientists said their study found beer can help dehydrated people retain liquid better than water alone, The Telegraph, a Biritsh newspaper, reported Friday.

Professor Manuel Garzon, who led the study, said the bubbles in beer can help quench thirst and the carbohydrates in the beverage can help make up for burned calories.

The study involved a group of students asked to perform strenuous activities at a temperature of about 104 degrees Fahrenheit. Half of the students were given a pint of beer after their exercise and half were given a pint of water. Garzon said the hydration affect on the beer drinkers was "slightly better" than the sober group.

Juan Antonio Corbalan, a cardiologist who has worked with Real Madrid football players and Spain's national basketball team, told The Telegraph he has long recommended beer to professional sportsmen after exhausting activities, as the drink is optimal for rehydrating the body.

Oh... Reggie is cute. 2min/mi, uh...wow.

*I* am not starting the weather forecacst obsession thead. Looking good so far. Can't wait to get to the beer to rehydrate me.

I was looking at how I ran last year. I was totally sucked into the "Wellesley effect", so I have started repeating to myself, 'I am not passing anybody, I am not passing anybody during Mile 10-14'.
