Please, if you are eligible, donate a pint of blood and report here, date and type (platelets or whole blood).<br><br>
If you are not eligible, please consider getting a proxy donor. Just ask a spouse, parent, friend, etc. to donate blood, if they do... you get the credit here!<br><br>

I last donated on December 15, so I won't be eligible until February 14. My next targetted donation date is early February, which is the 10th annual National Donor Day.

mustang, i donate platelets anytime; haven't felt any effects in my running. i have done interval sessions the day after platelet donation and ran normal speeds.<br><br>
when i donate red blood cells, my interval times take 6-8 weeks to recover back to the predonation speeds. long and easy runs feel normal after a couple of days. i don't donate whole blood 12 weeks (or sometimes even more) prior to a goal race.<br><br>
makes you appreciate what blood doping and epo would do to you, and what a huge benefit the cheaters get when they do it.

Donated whole blood today. O-, by the way.<br><br>
Feel great, since I did 3 miles this morning, and won't go out again until Friday. I'm so dang slow, I'll never know the difference. Heck, it might make me lighter, so I can go a tad faster - ha! Oh, yeah - all that food I ate since then probably negated that.<br><br>
I sure wasn't the first to post, BUT I'm the first to post a donation - woo hooooo! Maybe I'll even get 2 donations in this drive, since I'll be eligible to donate again on March 5!

Just checked with Canadian Blood Services: The Scot, being, well, a Scot, and all, is ineligible. He lived in the UK until '83, and is therefore theoretically subject to Mad Cow issues. Le Rats. Will continue to hunt.

My wife and I would like to thank all you blood donors. She has a defective immune system and gets weekly infusions of human gammaglobin(sp?) which comes from blood donations.<br>

Donating always knocks the carp out of my training for a couple weeks, but I can't imagine comparing the importance of maximizing my very limited abilities on the road vs the good my 4-5 pints/yr probably do. If I were a compatitive runner - maybe I could justify a more selfish outlook on this, but my pathetic times don't offer much cover on that score.

I used to donate 5 times a year, for about 15 years. Then I moved and there's no where local to donate. Finally I saw a van doing it at the nearby Home Depot place, and when I went in to donate, they rejected me because I had been in the Dominican Republic on vacation about 8 months previously.<br><br>
If I could find a place nearby to donate, I'd happily do it. The local hospital in the town where I work actually doesn't have a blood donation facility. Isn't that strange?<br><br>
