'morning all. Radioyada and I are heading out for 9 at some point this morning. Of course, it'll include walking, but that will be the longest distance (other than the pig) that I've ever gone in one session.

Hope the knee does better this week.

Good luck to our weekend racers!

Good morning, ladies! Good luck with the 9, Ailarie! And good luck to our racers, at Surf City and otherwise!

I'll be heading out for an easy 6-7 sooner or later. Looks like a nice day here too. I've taken the last two days off, but my foot still feels a little off. Nothing major, so I'm sure it won't affect my run. At least not too much... I hope...

Good luck Surf City racers today.

I ended up getting out for 6 last night and the stomach cooperated.

Today is yet another funeral, then another nice easy run this afternoon. It's heading up to about 50 so I can finally get the shorts back out.

Good runs today everyone.

Warm? That wind out there is enough to make a tumbleweed outta me.

I have 18 on my schedule but I have to wait for DW to come back from work (Trustees are in town this week...a never ending leg humping session).
I don't feel like 18. Not.one.bit.

Good luck to the Surf City folk. Who else has races going on this weekend?

Cheers

Morning Gang -

Gonna run something longish today and then do a 5k tomorrow (because it sounded better to run a 5k than try to make up the speed workout I couldn't do yesterday).

Good luck Surf City racers, Jill and any other racers! I know there is someone else I'm forgetting. . .

I remembered - Good Luck Bard!!

Some good runs already posted - nice!

All I have to say about my run this morning is Ouch! 10 miles with a group of 12 - I started looking around pretty early in the run figuring out who I might be able to stay in front of! This route was a bruiser - constant hills up & down. We started off with a 7:24 mile up a hill and then got serious shortly thereafter. The best strategic move I made is when I let the 4 guys in front take a wrong turn down a hill so then they had to turn around and go back up, thus giving me some cushion for the NEXT big hill! I figured based on the effort and the hills, my buddy and I would finish around 64 minutes for 10 miles - I was way off! 66:34 and we were a solid 2+ minutes behind the 4 guys ahead (the same ones who took the wrong turn - they finished with a 5:45 downhill mile, I think my buddy and I were around 6:15 or so). It's been a long timne since I got outclassed on a training run like that - I need to run with that crew more often (especially since the girls we ran with are easy on the eyes!)

OK - off to the shower, then shopping for hot water heaters!

I actually ran this morning!!!

Just a few miles to assess the situation; not great, but it's been worse. I can work with that.

Gus about killed me though - WEEEEEEE!!!! Let's go fast!!! He was just a little too geeked about being out.

Probably do arm stuff after I throw for a while.

I started the new month off better yesterday. I noticed it was not getting dark until about 5:40ish so I went to the park for a short run after work. I learned a lesson though. My pace was way too fast and I was spent by the first half mile. I suppose my mind thought that I had not missed most of my runs last month so it thought I should resume the same pace as before I started slacking. So I will go slower until I regain my full conditioning.

Today I am going to get 3 miles in as the afternoon weather is perfect- it's warming up to the low 60s.

ONE WEEK from today is the Birmingham 5k and my first ever race. As I have told several folks, I am going to meet and have fun with the 30s kr folks and not for any race. But it will be good experience for me in case I decide to pursue races in the future. I'm not really going to set any time goals as I have slacked off at the very worst time. I will be at this 5k and not be at my best but that's my fault and I will just have to do the best I can and have a good time.

Man PacerChris - that makes my run look puny! I ran 8 miles with Jaeger Dog in 1:01:41. We just took it easy, then in the last mile, my legs felt nice and springy which is nice. Hopefully they'll stay that way, our group run is for 16 tomorrow, but the girl I usually run with (who is also gunning for a 3:15, wants to put 4 in on top of that), I'm not sure I'm up for 20, but I figure I might run a little more than 16. So maybe 18 tomorrow. If the past weeks are any indication of pace, it should be between a 7:26 and 7:45 average.

Maples I think the best thing you can do is just go out and have fun. It's hard to explain the translation from 'training' to 'races' but I think you'll be pretty amazed what that extra shot of adrenaline does for you. It's something I think pretty much everyone refers to as 'race day magic'. It's good for a few extra seconds or in some cases a minute or more per mile pretty amazing stuff...

Go out there, have fun, meet some cool peeps, and enjoy your first race!

I met up with my group for a run this morning. People were doing all kids of different distances. I ran with a guy who's training to break 3:00 at Boston. We went off the front of the group and added miles. I had to double back to the store and leave after 7 miles because DD had a basketball game at 8:30. So, I got a nice 7 miles in 54:00. That's like 7:45 avg.

It was the back end of a sleep double. I did 12 miles last night right before bed time, then 9 hrs later, back out to run. It's supposed to be nice here today. I've got 15 on the schedule for tomorrow.

Good luck Surfers!!!

Nice runs by all. Looks like plenty of people got the group thang going on. Looks like Pacer is going to have to step up his game. Look at it this way Pacer, at least JenRuns wasnt' there to throw down on you! [ducks]

good morning all

good luck to the racers this weekend!

I did 6 miles last night at the lake. DH and I drove there because the sidewalks around here are full of ice and in the dark, I just knew I would wipe out (which I did walking the dog Thursday night). We took the pup. I was going for 6, Dh 8. The first mile I was pulled by said pup trying to catch said DH. After that she tired out and by mile 3 I was dragging her along. At 4.5 DH caught up to us again and we finished it mostly together if you don't count the extra .2 I had to go at the end. Last mile was the fastest and I finished in just under an hour. Well, that wasn't much of a recovery run I almost bit it as well as someone's dog with a retractable leash jumped in front of me. I had slowed down but I still kneed the dog in the side. Dog was fine but if I were going any faster, dog wouldn't have been fine and I would have toppled over the dog and hit the pavement hard. dumb owner.

At least 10 in on schedule for today. That would put me over 40 for the week and then I would feel like I am getting back on track.
