No runs for me today -- I'm doing ambulance duty this morning and then working from 1-9pm. Aftre that, I'm ready just to crawl into bed with hubby. Wednesdays are always long, tough days for me.

Tomorrow morning I have PT and then after work I'll take a quick (well, short is more accurate I guess) run.

Re. my hair, I had them color it very light brown with some blond & lots of grey highlights. This way my original color will eventually blend in OK and I won't have to keep coloring it. Yes, I am embracing the grey. DH likes it a lot but my kids may be in shock when they see it on Thanksgiving. I think they haven't seen my real hair color since the late 80s, when I found my first couple of greys.

I saw a thread about a weight maintenace group - can someone email me offlist ([email protected]) and tell me about this? I'd be interested. Weight loss may be impossible right now, as a WONDERFUL new bakery opened up right nearby, but hopefully I can maintain over the holidays. As soon as I'm done with PT, I'll be able to hit the gym much more frequently, so that's very helpful. With PT 3 times a week, it's pretty hard for me to hit the gym more than 3 times also, and even those workouts are of short duration.

Thanks for reading and happy hump day!
That reminds me:

In my early 20s we were living on one income with 2 young boys and the money was pretty tight. I decided to learn to cut everyone's hair to save money. Now that we can afford for them to get professional haircuts, they still want me to cut it for them. When the eldest was in college, I'd cut his hair and then do his 3 roommates. Maybe I missed my calling and should've been a hair stylist? hehe.

I have a new alarm clock and didn't get it figured out last night so overslept. Maybe Millbot or Rose could start giving me wake up calls.

Will run later.... Good day all!

[ETA: Don't wanna think about mcsolar's movements.. lalalalalala <plugging ears>]

Movements, eh.... glad it's not a discussion of what I thought it was going to be.

I don't feel like running this AM, as a matter of fact I don't feel like doing a thing. I'm supposed to do 4 miles, but my legs are tired, I've got no energy, and I have a lot of work related stuff to get done. Note to self, slow the long runs down a little.

Mrs Johnny colors her hair too and has for the last 5 years or so. This pisses her off greatly, as she is 10 yrs younger than me and the only grey I have is in my beard. I've gone about 10 years twice without getting a haircut at all, now I just go to supercuts or my SIL (a pro) does it for me.

I don't know how some of you people even get out of bed at the ungodly hours you do, millbot 0448, RSG 0529. This time of year I don't hit the floor until 7AM at best.

I had lots of movement at yoga this morning. I have had a Revelation and realize, all of a sudden, that my hip flexors are very, very, very tight. For Choovie: I just cannot get into Supta Virasana to save my life... I had to lean back with my elbows on a bolster. Any further than that, and my lumbar vertebrae jammed while the hip flexors stuck.

I'm swimming tonight and will try to apply Coach's corrections. She says that I swim in an "s" down the pool and need to straighten out my line of pull. So:

* Nice straight entry from the shoulders, no angle into the centreline
* Nice straight pull through to the hip, no diving into the centreline; and
* Keep that head tucked in.

My lats are unhappy about the corrections we made on Monday. I figure that if I feel 'em with each stroke tonight, I'll be doing something right.

Hey MS, I can do that move BUT I can't tuck my feet under (top of foot down). My feet angle out like a duck, which isn't good in that pose.

It helps to practice pigeon pose a lot, or at least I think it's called pigeon, where you lie on your back and kind of tuck your ams and shoulders underneath you and puff up your chest. Good luck.... I have tight hips too and the yoga helps me a lot but doesn't completely alleviate the problem.

Susan, the old grey mare. I'll have to post a new pic soon.

Pro, those are your hip flexors. Your hip adductors are the muscles that let you move your leg sideways across your body toward your other leg. Hip abductors let you move it the opposite way. I don't know the scientific names for any of these muscles.

Incidentally, running doesn't do much for your adductors, and I have to do exercises for mine periodically or I get groin pain. I use a resistance band around my ankle.

Ooh, I have a good hip flexor stretch too, if anyone is interested.

Regarding getting up early, it does not come naturally to me, but I like how the rest of my day goes if I get a run in first thing.

No hair coloring for me. And my mom is a hairdresser, so I don't pay for haircuts either, although this last one she gave me a week ago, I'm not too happy with. I don't think we did a good job of communicating what I wanted and it's shorter than I wanted. I figure in about 2 wks it'll look the way I want though.

what is the hip flexor stretch you are referring to Mill?

no running for me today. Homework night with DS, practice spelling words and work on multiplication tables. He has a test on Friday.
