I'll post early too, since I might not make it here later tonight. I haven't run since Saturday, but I do want to try that Virtual Boxing Day 5k after work tonight. If not, I might try a short spin on the bike trainer.

After 4 days of the flu, I've lost weight and can feel it. I need my running mojo back. Stat!

Good morning all. No work for me this week. Decided to take it off and spend it with the family. Much needed time with them as much as I have been gone.

Richard, kfuller, & roots - Hope you all are able to get a run in later. Have a great day.

I put in yesterdays workout today. I just got to caught up in everything yesterday and never really had a chance. More my choice though, because I did lay down for about 30 minutes.

Today I did a short VO2 Max workout on the trainer. 10 min WU - 8 X 20 sec max speed with 10 sec recovery - 10 min CD. Good workout though. Based on an article I read over at CR. I think maybe next time I will increase the length and recover. Maybe by 10 sec each.

Hope everyone has a great workout today.

Plan is 4-5 miles at lunch today. Did 4.15 yesterday which seemed short for what I ran..but ok.

Anyone have any ideas on how to lose water weight quickly? I know all the food & alcohol has added some extra bloat, and I'm in a wedding on Monday and need to flush it out! Any thoughts? Want to keep my running up so can't deprive myself of all too many calories...would love thoughts though!

Good Morning Folks

Looks lonely over at Active this morning! Feeling a bit tired today but will get on the stationary for a 30 minute ride.

Debating whether to try a short run tomorrow. Still slight tightness in the place of the original sin but thinking easy does it should be ok. We'll see.

Check in later.

Hope everyone got what they wanted for Christmas!

Continuing thoughts and prayers for 4boys and Tonya!

Traveling back to Omaha today, and man am I ready...I'm anxious to see Phillip. I told my dad last night that Phillip and I are NEVER spending the holidays apart again. And whose bright idea was it for us to spend Christmas apart for our first year of marriage? Really should have thought that through. My dad said that sometimes it takes doing it to see the right choice.

Okay, so, I arrived in Amarillo on Friday, was actually able to get in a 10 mile run that afternoon, a 16.50 mile run on Saturday, an 8+ mile run on Sunday, a 12 mile run on Monday, and I even beat the odds and ran 8.50 miles yesterday. Today I have a bunch of errands to run before my dad picks me up to go to the airport, and I'm still lying in bed, so it looks like I may not get a run in. I figured it was better that this be my day off this week, considering I'm always late to the airport, and a run would allow me a greater chance of being late.

So anyway, after beating the odds since arriving, I think I deserve a day off today. Tomorrow it's back to work and I can run there during lunch, like normal...

p.s. Thanks Dan. My heart goes out to Mom, as well.

Okay well I finally went ahead and started making my training schedule for the new year. I take a lot of time devising each week based off of training guides from Daniels and Pfitz, along with my personal preferences. Sometimes it can take upwards of 30 minutes just to figure out one week. So although my goal for yesterday was to figure out my training plan from 1/1 - 5/8, I didn't end up finishing. But at least I have a good start as to where my training will begin this year. Hopefully I can get the rest of the training figured out by the end of this week.

Building off of that, I have decided that this year will feature 2 goal races, and I will have to travel to both of them:

5/8 Twin Cities 1 mile (Minneapolis)
Early Sept: Fifth Avenue 1 mile (New York)

There will be plenty of other (longer) Chicago races along the way (mostly 5k's), but I am officially focusing on the mile this year.

....And now I'm getting excited.

Nirvana-- Souds like fun this year. Hope it goes well and you enjoy your races this year.

I will basically run the same races as last year. I am not sure what races are my goal, or maybe just do well on all of them. I am trying to find a 10k to do this year. I may or may not find one that fits into my races schedule. One goal for now is to bump my weekly mileage to 30 and see how that helps. I believe that it will help alot. I have been around 20 miles during December and This week I will get up to 22. I will build from there and see how it goes.

Have a great day everyone.

so, did my 30 minutes on the bike, a few crunches, a couple of lunges, and a sampling of other gentle core exercises.

Good runnin' all. I did 6 slow miles at lunch. Temp was up into the mid-30's, no wind, quite pleasant. Quads sore and tired from 2 days of skiing up at Okemo in Vermont. But it's all good, no complaints.

Hi all. Nice runs so far and hope those who are doing them later have good runs.

I did 9.5 miles on the treadmill in just under 90 minutes and am about ready to go back to bed. I don't know why, but that run really kicked my butt. The last mile my right inner ankle was complaining too, so I'll have to watch that.

flobear -- drink as much water as you can stand and avoid anything salty. Decrease your carbs a little too as carbs cause water retention.

Good running all. Week one of my 18 week Pfitz 18/55 plan for the Flying Pig continues. Just an easy eight miles today. The first four at 8:00 pace and the last four at goal marathon pace (7:15).

I'm feeling stronger than I have in a long time. I'm starting to get excited about my spring marathon.

Arrojo - Nice lunch time run.

Dan - Nice workout.

Nirvana - Nice job working on your schedule for next year. I haven't even really started yet. I know just about everything will be short this year. At least that is the thought for now until I can get confirmation from the ortho on my knee. I don't have any real plans for anything over 10K.

Tonya - Great workouts over the past few days. I hope you have safe travels and no delays so you can get home will Phil.

Dave - I wanted to say thank you for all the kind words. All the support really helps. At the risk of sounding sappy, running with you was one of the highlights of my running year. I do hope that we get the chance to do it again some time.

4boysmom - Whenever you get to the post office is whenever you get there. It's all good! Thanks for your kindness as well.

Me - I did 6 miles today. I just wasn't feelin' it yesterday, so I took Christmas off. Today started rough, so I did (more or less) 1 mile run, 1 min walk. After 3.5 or so, I felt good, so I ran it out, including speeding up gradually over the last half mile. Heh, I love that about treadmills. All that in 1:08:28.

Less than 12 miles to go!
