Utter fail this morning! I got all geared up to head out for a 12-miler. I stepped out onto my front porch and clicked on my Garmin...and then promptly slid down the granite ice-covered steps. I had no idea we had faced our first ice storm of the season! Hands and elbow and behind are all bruised, and I've called off my run for the day, opting for toast and hot chockky this morning instead.

Instead of posting about today's run, I'll post a picture of yesterday's run instead...

Helllllooooo, Robin! That's a nice way to start a daily. perked me right up. I was sitting here feelng miserable with this head/chest cold thing and now I seem better. I hope your bruises heal quickly.

First I want to say congrats to Mrs G, and Paul on their wins yesterday. And Opie, KSr had awesome races!

And mc - you're into Ludicrous Mileage. wtg!

That's terrible news about econo's son. Sending healing vibes their way....

I managed to do my LR yesterday, but very slow. 18 miles, 8:49 pace. I was high on meds for the first half of the run, but my head cleared and I felt fine for the second half. Didn't start hacking until I stopped. But this run did wipe me out for the rest of the day.

I know we all have different abilities here, Mike - but I just gotta say - that would be so stinkin' fast for me! My long runs are more like 11:00 pace and slower, since i do 3:1 run:walk minutes.

Am arguing with myself over whether to go out and try a run, or go to the gym and behave myself with other equipment and pool running (if they'll let noodles in the pool). Right knee is feeling much better this morning. Will let you know which wins out later....

Hey Laura! Always good to see you here. Yeah, I think that Mike is an overachiever. That he ran 18 miles with that head/chest cold is amazing, regardless of pace.

Wow, Robin... fun run you did there. Nice company you keep, too!

I just feel sick about Econo's son. Sending comforting thoughts and healing vibes their way.

No run for me yet. Maybe I will, maybe I won't. If I do, it's a treadmill run so I don't have to venture out in the cold. And it's cold here today! Brrr. Robin's hot chokky sounds like a good plan.

Hi all. Doesn't Robin look festive? I wish my stomach was as flat as those guys running with her.

I lined up this morning at the start of my half marathon thinking about Renee and Ben. The first time I met them both was also at a half marathon in Portland. Ben ran the 5K, and placed in his age group.

Pretty much a workman-like HM for me. With 30 mph winds and gusts to 45 mph, I was more in just-finish-the-damn-thing mode than racing mode. 1:32:09. A tad slower than I wanted, but the wind was just relentless. 26/1122 OA, 2/55 AG. I gave it all I had, and that's all can ask for.

Nice pics Robin. I know why the guy behind you is smiling.

Alright, Robin! You're way braver than I was, but you certainly have the bod for that two piece! I snagged a 2 pc Speedo at sign-in, but quickly rejected it in the bathroom and changed back to my one piece that hides the flab.

Fantastic 1/2 yesterday, speedy KS! Congrats on the AG win! Glad your knee held out so nicely.

WTG on the hardware, Lab!

11.8 nasty, hilly miles in a very cold rain. Had been snowing before I left and I figured the rain would turn back to snow as I climbed the morraine, but no. Was totally soaked when I got back. But at least it's done.

That is a fit picture group indeed Robin, sorry to hear about todays fall.

Irun - no harm in doing an easy long run.

So the rise and rise of MrsG and her recovery from Plantar Facitus continues as today we headed to a local 10km where she set out to run a very controlled 40.XX for a happy day and came back with a 39.XX grinning and looking very chilled out. Oh and she collected a 2nd place trophy as well.

My race was pretty poor as I failed to hit any of my expected targets not even the C option. I know at the end of the day I need to lose some weight and today proved it.

Numbers for the interested

20th overall 4th in my AG time 36.21 with a 17.57 - 18.21 split. Blog has a little more detail but I am not exactly in a good mood about this.

I guess I have had so many good runs lately a bad one was bound to happen at some point.

Labduck, I'm very proud of your race. Sometimes we can be perfectionists, never quite satisfied with our time, when by all appearances it was a great performance.

I can imagine how Mrs. G feels coming back from PF. A crackin' run for her!

I'm doing nothing today but going to BB games. I'm completely grateful for how I raced yesterday and can't believe I felt otherwise.

Festive was not the first word that Robin's photo brought to mind. But, festive is accurate. Be careful out there Robin.

nice SLOW run mike.......hope that cold clears quickly

if I lived in Alaska, I'd have to own a treadmill.....I'm glad I don't own a treadmill...............but, Alaska looks nice......if you do run, have a good one Erika

cold, windy, and snowing here.......went to a local 5k race, very small turnout, and most of those present were dressed like eskimos.....Alaskans would have been dressed like Robin and laughing our sissy crowd

congrats to ms G.......great job...........pf is kickin my butt so I know how tough it can be.....glad somebody is recovering from it

Labduckie!!! what a great HM you had today in such a bad weather. Wow..can't wait to see what you can do in good weather.

My street was well plowed, but the road was a soupy mess only 2 blocks away. The plan was to run 8, but I managed to run only 4 because of the road condition. I added 5x 2 telephone poles at 5k pace. This brings me to another successful 35 mile week with 2 hours of core workout. Oh...DH ran two miles and spent about 1 hour on the elliptical this week, plus some core.

Those speedo races look like more fun to watch than take part in As I was driving in my winter WONDERland this evening, I was WONDERing why I wasn't someplace warm like Miami Beach.

It was warm at the anytime fitness this evening as I ran a little farther up the mountain. I kept the pace at 12 minutes/mile the first four miles and increased it a little the last 2. Elevation gain was a little over 3700 ft.

Well, ok... some people might think so. I prefer to think of it as adding balance to the world.

Pie Jones, yes I do own a treadmill. But I never made it down there today. Spent my time working the vacuum cleaner instead. Holy cow how does one cat shed so much hair??? But thank you, you do say the sweetest things.

Heme, darling, you rocked that swimsuit. And yes, you could've pulled off that 2-piece with no worries. Very nice.

Gobi, well... bad run for you maybe. But I did have to check out local 10k results from last June. Totally flat fast course. You would've taken 12th overall. Not sure of AG, but probably 2nd (I take it you're not over 45). And then again, ours is a very fast course so you could've gone faster, I'm sure.

Never did make it out today. Or should I say downstairs. But I made some serious headway on straightening and rearranging things. We have a small wine cooler that was always in a bad spot, and now it's in the corner behind the couch. But all the boxes of baby pictures (why did we take so many??) are now in the living room. Oops. I'll get there....
