I am totally fine with that, Especially since last night I had pizza and a few stouts. Plus the Chocolate on chocolate on chocolate on chocolate topped with chocolate brownies, Damn my wife for making those. I tried to explain that with that type of food I have no "off switch" until they were gone.

1 1/2 hours of run walking

1 1/2 hours of strength training and core.

This week hopefully brings the same amount of run walking (albeit with a little more running than walking) and about an additional hour of strength and core.

#226 this morning - that sucks

Ran 152 miles last week was expecting a little better Monday morning reward ... still a nice week. 2 moderate speed workouts + 2 nice hill work outs - 1 hill repeats and 1 nice hilly trail run with extra hills on the side.

I will start my taper to the Flying Monkey marathon on Friday. I hope to get 1 speed workout(Tue) and 1 hill workout(TH) and then start my 9 day taper.

I still have not decided if I am going to do a Dark Monkey (Pre-run the course) for a 2x Monkey Marathon or just do it once.

You know I'll be there. Drinking is my specialty!! Leadville tends to become a bit of party weekend for those not running. Last year we rented a house and had over 25 people staying at it... I'm sure we'll do it again in 2011.

Oh, and I'm down to 207 this morning... which is what I weighed before my trip to the midwest. One 10 day trip to Indiana took 30 days to erase. Man, those people can eat, I mean to tell ya.

Oh, don't lie to me it's gonna be a blast and suck all at the same time - o2 is a bit thinner, so I will be sucking wind. But that is OK, I pride myself on being a pretty good masocist.

I may need to find beer @ 3-5am on Sunday morning, so when you get the house - Send me the address

I'll be at the finish line with it. Better finish closer to 3 than 5, or there won't be much left.

Not sure how much earlier I can do it - Too much time between now and then to make any predictions. My biggest worry is how fast I will recover from the 24 hour race end of June. + The elevation comes in a close second.

The elevation (altitude) will be the biggest obstacle, since a)acclimatization has nothing to do with fitness and b)it takes so darn long to fully acclimate. It will be a total crapshoot. Are you planning to come out early? You could always rent a hypoxic chamber for a few months... I've tried to do that before Hardrock but my wife wasn't having any of it. She's not about to let me put a tent over the bed

Either way I am coming out Thursday morning, so I either have to hope to not be totally floored by it - Only time I was subjected to it was skiing @ Copper Mt - It took about 1 minute per mile from me, but I was ok.

I buy a tent - Wife would give it a try, but likely kick me to the basement if she did not like it.

I should think about resetting my starting weight, but posting negative numbers is fun. As expected last week's reading was artificially high.

Ran only 24 miles last week. Chased some short distance PRs. 6:17.6 mile for a 1.6 second alltime PR.

Also did a 10 mile race. The race report is in the main reporting thread. I got there late, didn't fully stretch, started too far back in the pack and lost time weaving around slower runners, and with no marker at mile 1, I went out way way way way too fast. Planned to start at 7:30 for 7 or 8 miles then hang on for the last couple of miles. Instead I went out at 7:00 pace and tried to hang on for 8 miles. Ugh. New PRs for 7 miles and 8 miles, but faded and missed a new 10 mile PR by 9 seconds. Painful. Educational.

I have been thinking about next year. Wondering if I should try to step up to ultras. Breaking PRs at the shorter distances is becoming painful. Found some inspiration on youtube

Plugging Along, if you are looking for somebody to talk you out of Ultras, you are hanging with the wrong crowd.

Funny I watched a Leadville youtube video with my wife last night to get her pumped up + got permission for the Hypoxic tent.

I was exciting then sad at the end ... there were 2 runners within a minute of the finish when the cannon went off ... I did lead to a discussion about what would be better to miss an aide station cut-off and get pulled mid race or miss the official finish by 1 minute. I do not think she ever could understand why I by far would rather miss the official finish time by 1 minute - I would still finish and it would just be a personal victory. I think she is thinking ... but you did all that work for nothing. To me I would have done all that work for 90+% of what I was trying to acheive. The <10% of getting an official finish time ... just chaff.

Your thoughts?
