Good morning all,

Erika had a good race this weekend. Anxious to hear about it.

Had a training partner run 2:56:56 in NYC. It was good for 17th place of 3411 in age 50-54 men and grades out between 81 and 82%.

Hally did you see any of the race live?

48 degrees this morning and no wind. Ran 70 mins with 3 X 1.5 mile repeats with .5 mile recoveries. Goal was 5k plus 45 sec pace. Ran a bit faster than that by feel. Tomorrow and ez 40 mins.

Ek was 2nd AG with an impressive time. Good for her!

I was not at all well-prepared for my Half yesterday what with the sore knee after TCM and all that business travel, so I had no great expectations. In the spring I ran just under 1:50 at this distance, and although I didn't think I could do that again, I went out with the 1:50 pacer yesterday just to see how I felt. When the balloons disappeared on me at about two miles I knew this wasn't going to be the day. I finished in 1:56, 17th out of 62 in my AG, about what I deserved.

The Saint ran a 2:16 and was only a minute off her goal, so I am happy for her.

2 mile recovery run this morning with Lucy von Sheltie, now to pack and head to Cleveland for work. Spareribs

A rare morning run for me due to business meetings. 5.5 miles at 8:26/mi in the 39 degree fog. I was 0:30/mi slower than usual with the same HR. I don't know how you guys can do speed work in the morning!

lab, it gets easier the more you practice in the morning.

7 ez 8:30 pace flat flat flat. wore a completely useless nike top which was too cold into the wind and too hot with the wind... i like the style, but sheesh, it's worse than cotton in terms of performance. oh well.

rip, although haile isn't compared with american football players often, he and brett farve actually do have a lot in common. farve was raised in a single-room, dirt-floored yurt in wisconsin as a child, and haile was rumored to be texting nude photos to some "hostess" in nyc just before his injury. we'll see how their respective retirements announcements pan-out... haile always has struck me as an attention-hungry media whore, and we'll see when 2012 rolls around...

eta: congrats to the saint! my gf ran her first 1/2 yesterday in 2:15, struggling with some knee problems from 7-10... but she said she liked it!

Hi Kicksters.

Trying to catch up a bit after a weekend of being pretty much off line - a few little pop in's here and there but wasn't up to writing or responding. Hoping Econo gets well soon! I was hit with a bug over the wknd too, but fortunately no fever. but no running either and this was supposed to be my last long run before my HM on the 20th. I'm off work on Thursday, so maybe I'll try and get in a longer run then.

Congrats to Opie on your win this weekend! That's awesome and I'm so happy for you!

And a nice grooving 15K PR for Bty!

another congrats to Robin on your 'oh so close' PR 10K. and I love that shirt! maybe that would help me on my upcoming HM?

I'm happy for Bettylou running a strong race in NYC! I hope she finds time to pop in.

speaking of popping in . . . I wonder if Nancy is back from her European Vacation yet? Can't wait to hear some details about her marathon also.

Happy for Erika and her 2nd AG! hmmm, which one was she running? Being the keeper of the race schedule, I should know this stuff!

Congratulations to Ribs and The Saint on their HM's also. I'd be thrilled to run a 1:56 in a couple wks. ain't happening though.

yay McGirlFriend on her 1st HM!! Way to Go!

Busy busy week ahead for me. we are closed on Thursday, so I have 4 days in which to get about 2 wks of work done. Next week I'm called to jury duty and just in the event they even want me on a jury, I need to work ahead on my deadlines and get stuff done.

Wow, Ribs! I love that time! I'm with Tamster. I have a half coming up in December, and I was hoping to be able to run the whole thing. But I think I'm gonna have to stick to the 4:1 run:walk minutes because of the right hip. Dang it.

However, even with hip pain that came on after the first mile, I did a sub-29 5K this morning. WTH? Didn't mean to, it just happened. I did push a little, but it was 46 F, and it's so easy to run faster in 46 F. So, 28:54, for a 9:20 pace. If it wasn't for the hip, I really think I could do a 2:10 Half.

I have now consumed 800mg ibuprofen, and all is well again. Will do some stretching at lunch in a bit.

Lab, I hate running in fog. I don't like wearing my contacts in the dark (I always run before dawn on weekday mornings - am very used to it now) because they are not as clear as my glasses and if it's foggy, my glasses are nearly worthless. Good thing I know my neighborhood and all the low-hanging branches so well. Guess I really should go check on getting a new prescription, since that was 4 years ago. Yes, the contacts are expired, but I still have 3 unused sets. I usually only use them when I'll be outdoors a lot (weekends), so I can wear sunglasses.

Best get-well wishes to Econo. Tamster, I hope you are able to get everything done that you need to do. I hate having to cram more in because of holidays. Makes the holidays more worrisome than relaxing.

How 'bout those AGGIES!? Whooooop!

Had a great run! After the typical warmup mile, fartlek for 3 miles, going fast when I felt like it & recovery jogs also when I felt like it. As you might guess, most of it was in the range I raced in Saturday, 7-8 pace, and looking at the graph in my log, more of it was fast than I thought. Cool! Last mile easy.

Hi all! Quiet here today!

4 ugly miles thru the park after work. Started out fine, but the glute cramped up on me 2 miles and change out. Walked/jogged for half a mile and then managed a slowish run back. Brought out the Stick for a hard massage after dinner then sat on a heating pad for an hour. Spin tomorrow should give it a bit of a rest.

Condolences regarding the crampy glute, Heme.

I spent a quality day on the couch, reading & answering email and burning up with fever. Sorry to give you a day by day flu journal, but without any running to report, what is a drama queen to do?

Not quite 11.8 but I did go 11 miles on the eliptical in a quad searing 51 minutes. Didn't feel the need to do any extra at an easier level.

Many an injured athlete retired only to resume again when they got healthy. Didn't Joan Benoit Samuelson retire retire? She seems to be setting a lot of masters records for being retired.

Hey, I'm home. Will work on a RR soon. This was a great weekend with lots of get togethers and fun times with running friends from the far side of the country. When you look back on the whole weekend, that's almost most prominent in my mind! But the race was good, and given the hills and the wind (Yes, PINK! It was Windy in NH on Sunday!!), I'm really happy with my time of 3:41:51, good for 2nd in my AG. (last year that was 10 minutes better than first in my AG, but oh well) We got home late this afternoon after overnighting in Seattle. From the weather reports, it seems we left NE just in time! Back to work tomorrow...
