Good Morning Opie - you serving hot chocolate? mmmmmm!

Rainy morning here and had a hard time getting motivated to jump on the TM. Once on, I was fine. I haven't done 1/2m intervals in a while so I did 4 and then 2 1/4m intervals. My recoveries between were slower and slower 1/4m. Followed up by .5m bf. I don't really like running bf on the tm as the deck is too warm and I feel like I'm going to blister. It's much nicer on the cold asphalt...

Enjoy your day - I can't believe it's already Thursday!

ETA: Glad MB popped in the other day - hope he returns soon! Did I miss an injury of his?

Opie started a daily? I'll take some of that hot chocky. low 40's are great for racing and I think that's what we will have Sat for an out of town 5k.

5.75 miles this morning in brisk winds. Temp was 55 and the wind was cool. Will run the same course again tonight.

Halloween candy about gone; thank goodness. Darn tootsie rolls. You know they come in different flavors. It's a conspiracy I tell ya.

Our son, dil, and gd have announced they will spend Christmas with us this year. Cool. They are only 7 hrs away by car but it's hard to get together because of schedules and responsibilities.

Have a friend running NYC marathon this weekend. Should be close to 2:55-3:05. He ran 2:42 in his late mid 40's.

Rainy here too, Pink.

Good news on your Christmas guests, KS

My 3+ miler went great yesterday, crammed 5x30" pretty much at all-out pace with long recoveries and felt super at the end of the run.

I'm hoping to do my last loooong run until Richmond on the 13th this PM.

Hey gang!

My return to running is going pretty smoothly! I'm pretty happy about finally getting some miles in! 4 miles this morning. Brrrr... those morning temps are a bit wicked! Gloves a must. Hot chocolate is good too! Thanks for ordering up the cocoa Opie!

KS - I thought we agree to put the tootsie rolls down. Save them for the Christmas guests.

any hot chocolate left? mmmm, that would hit the spot right now. Although I did stop for a latte this a.m. and tried the Pumpkin Pie latte with some cinnamon/nutmeg sprinkles on top. that was very tasty!

KS, great news on spending the holidays with family! Except for my parents and my MIL, all the rest of our family lives back in MN, so holidays here are pretty small and with David being an only, there are no other kids around either.

Dove, nice to hear you are back out running again.

Wonderful to see Seemom getting back in the swing of things too!

Got too busy yesterday and had no time to post.

My RMT went medaeival on my butt Tuesday nite with the elbow, the accupuncture and the electrostimulation, and I left his clinic feeling a bit like one of those dissected frogs that you apply an electrical current to to see the muscles twitch, but definitely better.

After work yesterday, I headed out for 4, with a bit of a side jaunt into a wooded area of the park for some variety. Side jaunt just felt WAY too good, so kept going and ended up with 6 total. Glute not very happy, but the rest of me was!

Will run again after work.

Have a good one everybody!

listening to dean karnazes book on my mp3 player... better than i thought it would be. the "soiling the lexus" chapter today was a riot, in ways only a runner can appreciate.

Wickit mileage, mc. I'm reading "Enduring Patagonia." Haven't hit the part about how they "release the bivy" on the north face of Aguja Poincenot yet. I guess maybe it is only runners' talk.

Hee, Heme. From squirrels to frog twitching.

Nice work, JJJ. Turning on the jets lately.

Pink, get off the asphalt! Yikes, esp barefoot. I try to have at least two runs a week on grass or trail.

Finally sorta getting back into things after marathon, running in the UT canyons and mts, and a pretty good hike on Sunday. I had this weird shoulder/bicep thing going on, which I've had in the past. The only thing that fixes it is yoga. Was doing sort of one-armed chaturangas yesterday, but it's much better today. Sometimes more is, well, more.

Apparently we missed Sandwich Day yesterday. I'm wondering whether Gobi's had a Chip Butty with his Crunchie.

SS, that looks disgusting!....pass the napkins please.

Rainy here all day too. Erika and I didn't meet after all. I did some high level math and figured out that since she arrived just yesterday, my plan to start at 7:30am would seem to her bod to be 3:30 am. Not a good preparation for her marathon this w/e. So we bagged it. I went out around 6am to avoid the rain and got in a recovery 5 miler instead. Two ships in the night.... Anyway she's in good hands, hanging out with Marj and Henry and LaT, and Pro, and all her other Boston-based fans. And I've been in meetings all day.

Hot chocolate weather is here too. Had to wear big mittens part of the day at work as my hands were freezing

Super soaker at the fitness center this evening on the eliptical. 60 minutes at level 13 for 11.75 miles followed by another 10 minutes at level 10.

Puddles of sweat all over the place. I never want to work out that hard but I can't help myself and have to do every mile faster than the previous one!!

What's great is that I never get injured on the xtrainers. If I ever tried to train that hard running I would surely be injured.

Hot chocolate and Pie. That's a good combo!

5 mile progression run to 5K pace (6:20/mi). Finished overall at 7:13/mi. Plus one barefoot mile cool down at 9:00/mi. My weight afterwards was one I have not seen since 8th grade. I should probably double my donut intake tomorrow.

I received a memorial service announcement today for a guy who was my high school quarterback. He's a year younger than me. I don't think I had seen him in over 20 years, so it wasn't like we were close. Since I was a wide receiver, we spent a lot of time practicing together, and he made me an all-conference selection. He was good enough to play Division II college ball. We shared a lot of youthful dreams and hopes together. I've had other former teammates of mine pass away, but this one hurts a little more. He was a good man.
