Heme - did you catch the squirrel?

Lab - you sure are running some quick times lately. You're going to do well in that half.

Only 62 degrees this morning but still humid and windy. No complaints. 10 moh with 4 mile tempo imbedded with goal of 5k pace plus 1 min. Accomplished even running all 4 miles into the headwind. Very satisfied this morning.

Restless sleep last night and don't know why. Not election related; just restless.

Anyone hear from Gin or Secondwind lately?

Hi TW and KS

A spectacular day here. 45 and nary a drop of wind. I ran 10 mins longer then the usual and then 15 min weights. Good news, I am not feeling like I have to walk.

Good to get back to real life, yes. No comment on the political squirrels.

KS, I just wrote to SecondWind on FB, hopefully I'll hear back from her. She hasn't been around there in a while either.

Quads are still kinda achy, which I didn't know until my run yesterday. Funny how that happens sometimes. All of a sudden it's gotten cold here, upper 30s into low 40s, and I'm finding I don't know how to dress to run. Amazing how quickly I forget from one season to the next.

We leave tonight for DD's college visit trip, driving to upstate NY, back late Saturday. Five schools over three days. Tis the season!

Good runs to all.

ETA: Good news, indeed Hally!

Good Morning, KickNation.

We're getting some of Tom's rain, which we need.

It may stimulate a nice final flourish from my shiitake patch -which has exceeded expectations this fall.

Yesterday I had a wonderful 6+ shirtless miles in lovely brisk autumn weather.

I'm going to try to squeeze in a final long run tomorrow before start officially shifting down for the Richmond marathon.

Since I've not hit 50 recently and not even a substantial number of 40 mile weeks over the last few months, tapering may be antithetical.

Or, maybe attempting a marathon on minimalist type mileage is antithetical .

WIll RAW 3-4,

Morning, Folks.

That's great news Hally!

There was frost on the pumpkin this morning. 22F, but no wind. 2 mile w/u then 6 miles tempo at 7:50 avg pace. Although I discovered on MacMillan's site that what I call tempo he calls steady-state. Whatever. I don't have a head for all of these training theories. Sometimes I think it would be great to have a coach who would just tell me what to do on a given day so that I wouldn't have to think about it. But for now I'll just alternate between hard effort and EZ.

I'm hoping to run with Erika tomorrow. I think she's traveling now.

J3, you're running really well. Congrats on that half! Good job on your run, too, Hally. Bike workout for me at lunch & yoga after work. Since my bike's at home & I'm up here in the city, I'll do the stationary bike at the Y.

You and me both. Maybe we can get a two-for-one coaching deal somewhere?

8⅓ miles today, overdressed and with trashed quads still from Monday. Though I felt progressively better as the miles went on. Feeling great now. Have a great day all!

Dove, I bet you were about to go crazy waiting to run.

45 minutes cycling with 30 minutes in the middle doing one of those simulated hill programs. I don't have any HR data on cycling & wish I did. My AHR for the workout was 135, max 154. The warmup & cooldown was around 110 and it was in the 140's for much of the "tempo" portion. It seemed hard compared to when I run with my HR in the 140's.

8mi ez 8:15 pace. jumped in for 1/2mi with a guy doing a 2mi time trial before he hit his turnaround point... maybe i talked to him too much, since he had a headwind going back when he turned. oops.

stretching stretching stretching. my hamstrings and legs are still beat from last weekend's race. they've got to recover so i can torture them some more this weekend, sheesh.

oh, did i mention that haile geb is racing in nyc this weekend??? go haile go!
