What it do, homies?
first of all...there was just TOO MUCH great running this weekend for me to get everyone. so let me throw out a blanket

YOU FOLKS ARE WONDERFUL

and know that i'm thinking of you each individually. i know the work that goes into running a good run is not just the day you run. you are all just great!
I've switched my run days for the week with the holiday. Took hank for a walk on a pet trail yesterday. Good grief. More fun than a dog should get to have. The metro park sparked a question from me.
Does anyone cross country ski?
yeah. i know i grew up in Ak and should know this. but i down hilled and there was a big difference between the 2. There was a sign at the Metro park about cc trails and i started to wonder if we got enough snow here, how you go about learning etc. etc. etc.
so i thought i'd ask you all.

Hey Roo, I've gone X-country skiing before. It's super easy. I just rented some skis and away I went. It's that easy. You just slide across the snow as if your walking, only you lift your heels and your toes are what's attached to the ski. It's a lot of fun.

Roo I haven't cross country ski'd before, but DW used to, and she loved it. She's not even an active outdoors type person (more of an indoors arts and crafts type), so I'm guessing it must be tons of fun. I would guess that it's excellent cross training though.

I'm taking my run stuff in to work, hopefully I'll get 4 or so in at lunch.

Rest and recovery day for me. Start base building phase for a spring HM tomorrow.

I was as satisfied with my race yesterday as I have been since any race I have run in a while. My 3 M split was a PR for that distance, and I nailed my goal time. Fort hose who picked me in the pool, I had predicted a 43:00. My actual finish was 42:57.

Running date tonight. She emailed me yesterday and said even though it's supposed to be in the 20s and snowing, she was still up for a run!! I think I may have found the ultimate running parter.

Roo - cross country skiing, waxed skis are more work but make for a much better ski experience. Most shops will have clinics for not only waxing but also skiing. There are two basic types of X-countriers: classic and skate. A lot of places will also rent gear - oh! University Outdoor Clubs might be a good place to check out too, I know ours does tons of stuff.

And, if that fails, then I'd recommend snowshoeing.

Recovery 6 today. I am hoping that this week goes a lot better than last...although the Onion horrorscope had a different take on it.

Your marathon run will soon be regarded as a true testament to the futility of the human spirit.

A.w.e.s.o.m.e!!!!! Just awesome.

No running for me today, either. My quads are sore (should have stretched sooner), my left knee hurts, and my left foot is shot to hell. I am teaching my Spinning class tonight and doing some long overdue upper body weights. If my foot is OK, I may try to do the 10K on Thursday, but no running 'til then.

Happy Monday! Thanks again for all the good vibes this weekend!

I'm not posting a race report. I had a great 8k. I took it pretty easy and only "worked" the last mile. So I'm pretty happy at my time for just taking it easy. I've got a 5 mile race coming up in 3 weeks. sauconRunner and eccabex will be running that one as well. We'll see what happens in that one.
