Are you?

10 moh this morning at ez pace with training partner. Started at 5 this morning instead of 5:30 as he got off work at 3:30 and wanted to start as early as possible. Hope to run 4 more tonight.

RIP - it's frustrating when the courses are not marked well or someone cuts it short. You've had several of those this summer. It happens in road races too but fortunately not as often.

((injured)) seems like quite a few right now. Take care of those problems before they get out of hand.

Hi Euphie and KS

That's part of the experience behind trail races. Just like you can train to get faster, it also takes practice to learn how to follow trail markings better. When I was led off course, I knew right away I wasn't going in the right direction. If you read TrailRunner magazine, it is pretty common even for the biggest races and best runners to go off course quite often. I would run these races even if they didn't have any awards because of the fun and challenge, especially on trails I have never seen before. Next week I am driving to the Kanahwa State Forest outside of Charleston WV to do a group run of about 15.5 miles with the West Virginia Mountain Runners. I ran a 50k race there a few years ago and mountain biked a couple times when I wasn't able to run.

My legs were a little sore when I first got up, but feel pretty good now. I'll do a good workout on the eliptical this evening.

I'm very happy to be a fossil, especially in such good company. I feel great today. Ride yesterday and no run this morning did the trick. I'll try 3 later with a friend who is getting ready for her first Turkey Trot. Tomwhite, isn't it great to have an alternate plan? I find riding the bike to be a serious addiction for me and this area has lots of great routes and plenty of folks to ride with. I've even started commuting to work on two wheels.

Hope all your weeks are off to a great start! KS, your 2 a days amaze me.

Fossil?.... well maybe here at work... after 32 years at one place it's a title to wear proudly.

In the running world, I'll go with "old broad".

3 mile easy on the TM after work. A wee bit of excitement at the work gym.... we had an itty bitty (6") Northern brown snake try to come in from the cold and take up residence. I was about to pick it up and toss it in a coffee cup when the maintenance guy showed up with a broom and dust pan to shoo it back outdoors. Poor little thing!

Hi Ks, rip, TW, Euphie, & old broad

Not a chance, FO, at the rate I plan on increasing milage, I'll be buying you beer for quite some time. I have nothing scheduled and my short & medium term goals are, first, getting used to the new orthodics (if possible), and then trying to better some senior PR's (5K, 10K, 10m) while I'm still a lad in my early 60's. GL on the half this weekend.

No running today, had to work, hope to squeeze in a couple of miles before tomorrows dentist appt.

Johnny, I'm holding high hopes that your bought-and-paid-for orthotics are the answer to your foot woes.

Good luck with the dentist tomorrow....that's never a pleasant experience.

Heading out for 6 miles tonight - starting to hate "dark and cold" - thinking treadmill twinges might be worth putting up with for a couple months.

I'll have to add another closet for race shirts first.

I got a nice Marshal Mangler glass that has a picture of something resembling an algae covered Bigfoot.

45 minutes on the eliptical tonight still at a lower resistence. My cold came back a little stronger after yesterday so it's back to

easier workouts for a couple days.

Isn't that the truth! (about the extra closet) Could we get a photo of that glass? i can't begin to picture it. Nice to have the momento, isn't it?

Get a good night's sleep. Hope you can knock out this cold. Do you every have any trouble sleeping after your harder workouts? I've heard that elevated cortisol at such times can cause insomnia - wonder if that's my deal sometimes. After Saturdays run, didn't sleep well at all. Tonight's 6 miles went okay - took me 64 minutes.

No way I can catch up, I'll just say hi to all of you folks and give a high 5 to those running well (RIP!!) and a gentle hug to those working their way back {{FO and Johnny... others?}}

In Juneau for conference this week, lots of wet heavy snow here. Ran 3.3 miles this morning and hope to get 5 in tomorrow... 6-10" forecast for tonight but it's not snowing yet!

HF, Sometimes after a hard workout, I'll wake up a couple times during the night but don't have trouble going right

back to sleep. That is one way I can tell I need an easy day of day off.
